What are the pros and cons to using cognitive behavioral therapy?

I’ve used it quite a bit, and I’ve found some of it quite helpful. However, I was wondering if there were any downsides to it. Does anyone here know?

If you have a competent therapist, there shouldn’t be any down side. It supposed to be one of the most effective forms of therapy. There also are different types of therapy. If you feel that you are not progressing and your therapist agrees, then look at a different form. (I said ‘and your therapist agrees’ because sometimes therapy is difficult and sometimes it goes for a bit w/o anything obvious happening. Those aren’t the times to bail.)
I’m not sure why you would be concerned about a “down side”?
The CBT I have been involved with has been helpful. It requires a lot of work and I think sometimes I might be over analyzing things but for the most part, I don’t think I have ever felt there was a downside to it.
It is a very popular tool in “recovery oriented” therapies.
Keep at it and I wish you well.
I like it but I don’t always feel like filling out my thought sheets most of the time. I do though because it helps.
