Question by ellagirl: What is the best way to support someone with panic disorder?
What would be an example of a supportive person or friend to someone who has panic disorder? I have panic disorder, and sometimes it feels like I have lost those who were the most important to me. What are ways people can support those with panic disorder? I am just so scared all the time, and it is also a load to have to take care of others (not children, mind you, but other people’s problems).

I have been living with my boyfriend for the last four months and he is agoraphobic. I am about to go crazy myself. We have been dealing with this for two years now. What would happen if I took him an hour away to a mental hospital to get some help? He will drive with me some places but he can only go so far and we have to turn around and go home.
Would taking him to a mental hospital even help?

I have read plenty about how to deal with post traumatic stress. But how about the people who live with these folks? I am so exhausted, so confused, my self esteem is zero living and trying to cope with this person.
Pls, can I hear from someone else tonite for some support or guidance on how to take all this? The silence, the emotional abandonment, the lonliness, the depression. I feel like I have no life anymore but taking care of him.

If I get very stressed out, which is fairly often, I have trouble taking full breaths. Unfortunately, I’m stressed out the most when doing something I’m not doing, like running, and I just joined the cross-country team…
I’m planning on doing some research on anxiety disorders before I talk to my doctor and anything you can tell me would be great.

they arent actually obsessive compulsive disorder but has to do things on a schedule at the same time everyday.

My friend has had social anxiety since I can remember, but shows signs of panic disorder and agoraphobia from what I’ve read online. Can someone have all three? Over the years I’ve become drained and just can’t deal with her avoidance, fear, and compulsive questions for reassurance about how she looks, sounds, walks, etc. It’s driving me nuts!!!!!!

I don’t want to stop being her friend, but if she does not get help, I risk losing my own peace of mind by allowing her to constantly pull me into her world of fear. Also, I just can’t stand seeing her this way. Unless myself and another friend visits her she is always alone in that small apartment with nothing but her computer, tv, and radio. I know she is “not” psychotic, dangerous, or anyting like that. But this is nuts!!!
