Question by LILi Rodri: How to do CBT during social interaction?
I have a form of social anxiety disorder. I’m trying to do Cognitive behavioral therapy, but I find it hard to do it while I’m interacting with someone.
When you’re talking to someone, you have to listen, and say something back!
How can I think and rationalize what I’m feeling when at the same time I have to pay attention to what the person is saying, and thinking about what I’m going to respond to the person?? It’s overwhelming!
Can anyone help me with some pratical tips? Thanks!!

Question by Desielle: What happens when you have aspergers, bipolar disorder, anxiety, social phobia, and ADD and you get pregnant?
I have aspergers, bipolar disorder, anxiety, social phobia, and ADD. I am on a lot of meds for my mental illnesses. My boyfriend and I have been talking about kids, way down the road though. I was just wondering what it’s like for women with mental disorders like mine to get pregnant and have babies. Is it worth it to be off your meds for 9 months or is it too hard? Would I have to bottle feed or could I breast feed? How much stress did it put on your relationship with your husband or boyfriend? Was it hard to get pregnant and carry a healthy baby to term?

I read a phrase the other day about your effort being a portrait of yourself. Sometimes, however, your portrait is hidden from view like an unseen masterpiece. This is often true of those who silently suffer from social phobia.

Sometimes there are hidden factors which prevent you from putting the effort into things which you would like. Anyone who is shy will identify with the feeling of being held back. You can put a fa?ade upon your shyness and appear quite confident to the majority of people, most of the time, but you will tend to stay within your known limits. Your shyness can become an enormous barrier which prevents you from testing your limits and expanding.

Currently 5.3 million adult Americans let social phobia get in the way of living happily. Will you be one of them?
I used to have a small case of social phobia. I never seemed to fit in. I became less and less social and began to think I was boring or awkward because I couldn’t seem to meet anyone. I eventually stopped socializing because I was too afraid. When I realized I’d become the opposite of who I wanted to be, I started forcing myself to socialize.
