People in this world are equal, there is no one better than the other, I am like you and you are like me, that’s what you have to know before asking about this case…!!!

What is social phobia!!!!

It is the fear of people for unjustified reasons and it is a cursed case which affects the human being negatively and accompanies him since the childhood specially in the early ages starts from the age of 12 till 19 years of old which we usually call it (Adolescence) this stage which is considered the character building stage for humans.

It is a case before other conditions like the depression, anxiety, panic, fear of the unknown and that is to know that those cases are connected to each other, it can affect the person if he couldn’t find the appropriate treatment for it, we can’t deny that there are some cases affect the person after that age but in the end it is just one case called the social phobia

The signs of this case are many and it is different from one person to the other but there are major signs in which the affected guy can find it himself and it can be noticed from the people around him and we can mention one like: the inability to talk with others and the fear of criticism and mocking ,Fear of reading in front of people or even just few of them, avoidance of attending wedding ceremonies and birthdays because of the fear of the people ‘s looks towards him or talking to him, avoidance of talking in the cellular phone in front of others and putting the phone mode on silet or even shutting it off completely to avoid the embarrassing situations, not to practive in social activities whether in the university or work or even in the house too, fear of asking about something so as not to get embarresed , avoid eating or drinking in restaurants or might go to a restaurant but sit in one of the corners to avoids people’s eyes on him while eating, sitting in the back seats in the meetings , lectures or theatres to avoid feeling that people are looking at him.

Do you know that 70% of the people are having this infirmity but with a varying proportions, and it might just be very low proportion in which it might not be felt, unlike some people who can get effected significantly , and do you know that the people who are suffering from the social phobia around 80% of them are suffering from other mental illness as we stated before?

What are the symptoms of the social phobia?

Social phobia symptoms are classified to psychiatric and physical symptoms. The psychiatric symptoms: they are the symptoms that accompanies this case and increases till it turns to be diseases and mental disorders like: feeling insecurity, tension and worry, losing self confidence, shaking and panic, hesitating in taking decisions, the social isolation, getting tired from work and lower productivity. The physical symptoms: increase in heart palpitations , feeling tired and fatigue quickly, feeling pain in some parts of the body, lack of concentration, weakness of memory, dizziness, dyspnea and increase in the blood pressure. Those are some symptoms which accompanies the person who is suffering from the social phobia and those reasons can vary from a person to the other depends on the strength of the case, its degree and the age of the person..

What are the reasons of the social phobia!!!

Some scientists and doctors mentioned that this case has particular reasons experienced by the patient himself in an earlier age and it accompanies him till the age of the puberty and some of them has faced situations in his life which can’t be forgotten and it has a negative impact on him specially in the childhood in which we can mention that this is the difficult start to build the person and promote his self confidence in the adulthood, the kid who can’t read infornt of others will face a real difficulties to read in front of others also when he gets older and it will become a fear by age , and who ever didn’t sit and talk in front of his friends it will be difficult for him for sure in the subsequent years-old , and here comes the role of the family in building this small kid and removing all the small fears from him so it doesn’t get bigger in the subsequent years.Yes..The family rule is really big in the education because of its positive and negative impact for the baby’s ages,..violence, flogging and mockery put fear ,reduction and poor self confidence in the child and this is the most negative reason in building the personality. On the contrary the feeling of the peace of mind and the over tenderness gives the kid his self confidence, opinion and self-assertion and talking like his friends because there is always who is giving him the absolute protection and comfort so you can see the child in the beginning doesn’t care about anything because there Is always who can take care better than him..Those are some reasons which accompanies the child from his childhood till his youth and which affects the build and the refine of his personality, but the surprise is in another reason which is (the failure)Failure also is one of the most important reasons for the fear because of its negative impact on the future of the individual life , because the human by his nature can think, make and create but in the end sometimes he collides with the failure , some talented people has this capacity, he fears of failing in his work, study ,creations, inventions and everything, failure creates in him the worry , tension and hesitation so he can’t move a step forward till it becomes his capacity and his disease can increase and develops till it becomes mental illness and the reason for that is fear of other people.Who do you fear?!! Who is waiting for your failure?!! Aren’t you like them?!!Yes..These are the reasons which destroys our life early and destroys our happiness if we didn’t find the solution or the appropriate treatment till we get rid of that disease which is the key of mental illness..

The social fear and its treatment

We already found that for each case of the previous cases there is a reason and if the reasons is reversed this will be the treatment, briefly if your fear people so you have to face them and if you are suffering from a specific problem so you have to set yourself free from that problem as soon as you can and you must break this psychological barrier. The psychiatrist in that case will not treat you and I will tell you honestly he will not give you except some medicine and sedatives which will let you feel lazy and sleepy and will give you some instructions which will help you to change the course of your life and beat this problem, just be confident that the treatment will not be except from yourself and here are some tips for you and it is from a real experiments of people who changed their cases because of their strength and continuation only:1-Be sure that other people are not looking at you in the negative way that you think and make sure that you are the only one who is thinking in that way.2-try when you speak just think only about the subject which you are talking about and try to concentrate in it as much as you can , think even in a moment that these people around you are not existing and they have no value and plant the confidence in yourself in that time and take courage3-try to begin your talk with a smile and joke and make people smile for you and that will reduce the tension and remove the barrier of fear from the beginning..4-inhale the fresh air and take a deep breath if you felt any tension or confusion5-you have to always feel self confident and tell yourself that you are strong enough to beat any problem in the most difficult times6-try to have a plan always in which you can go hiking in the gardens and walk at night during the week and daily for at least 2 hours.7-try not to spend all the time in your house and don’t be isolated alone in it specially in your void time8-don’t convince yourself to failure but just say I didn’t succeed yet, I am telling you honestly if you fear from failure so you are talented more than some other people and you have to continue till you reach your goal9-begin with drawing your future and plan for it even for years…Because in the end you will succeed and the people will say that you succeeded.10-learn from your mistakes and don’t blame yourself and don’t give up till you do what you want, just have self confidence in yourself

in the end you don’t need to waste other years of your life because you choose the isolation from people and you don’t want to waste the happy moments in your life while you are with your family or your kids or even yourself..Put a limit to that and from here you have to know that you are your own doctor, just have confidence in yourself..

Agoraphobia is an abnormal and persistent fear of public places or open areas, especially those from which escape could be difficult or help not immediately accessible. The very word agoraphobia itself lets us know the nature of this debilitating condition. ‘Agora’ comes from the Greek language and it means places where people meet, or a marketplace. ‘Phobia’ is a fear of something. Thus we can understand that people who suffer from agoraphobia have a fear of being in crowded places.

Social Phobia is an interpersonal pattern of behavior which is most likely to appear and cause distress when a person feels that their social goals of asserting their wishes or gaining approval from others are dangerously unattainable or likely to fail. It is a form of self-overprotection from perceived social threats.

Agoraphobia and social phobia have some similarities that make hard to distinguish from one another. Both of them are afraid to be in public settings. And since both are classified as phobias, both conditions can be successfully treated with a program of cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Also there are differences between agoraphobia and social phobia. The main difference between them can be found in the nature of the fear causing the avoidance behavior. People with social phobia are afraid of social settings that involve groups of people or crowds. Agoraphobia, on the other hand, is the fear of open and public spaces, in the presence or absence of other people.

And people with agoraphobia would also be afraid to walk alone in a forest or on a secluded beach because no one would be around to help if they had a panic attack or medical emergency.

Luckily, both agoraphobia and social phobia can be cured.

Article by Luca Senatore – Weight Loss and Phobia expert in Cambridge

This article aims at inspiring both therapists and people “suffering” from a phobia or any other issue for that matter. I believe that people cannot have depression, people can behave depressingly; people cannot have anorexia, people can eat disorderly; people cannot have a phobia, people can behave fearfully etc. These behaviours cannot be purchased at a shop; they cannot be picked up by others. We choose (whether that’s consciously or unconsciously) to be depressed, to eat disorderly, to have that phobia and only when we can accept this do we realise that as we have chosen to have the problem we can now choose to change.

For some individuals phobias of any kind have a constant and limiting effect on their life. No matter how irrational they may appear they are a serious issue for the sufferer.

Freda from Cambridge (UK) was a prime example. An intelligent woman in her 40′s she has suffered from a lifelong phobia of dogs and, with the dog population in this country now standing at more than 7 million, her every day was effected.

Freda was forced to live only where dogs are not allowed and could never enter any of the Cambridge parks or common areas. Her physical reaction to even the thought of a dog was severe. Physical symptoms included palpitations, sweating and hyperventilation. Whilst no actual allergy existed the physical effects on her body were widespread and destructive.

During the last 20 years she has sought help from a range of professionals including Psychologists, CBT therapists and Doctors. All forms of therapy including medication failed. She had seen 5 hypnotherapists and the last one she had been to in 2002 “sold” her 28 sessions, charged her ?1,500.00 and then told her that she was one of the 4 people in the UK who could not be helped! This person should not be practicing, not because of the lack of results but for the number of sessions and for the limiting belief which his diagnosis “installed” in Freda’s mind.

Freda asked me to help her only because her best friend, who was one of my clients, convinced her to “give me a chance”. Due to the facts described above, when Freda asked me to help her she held out little hope that the treatment would have worked and therefore we started with some limiting beliefs to resolve before we could proactively do any “change work”.

The outcome of less than 90 minutes in the therapy room was that Freda was not only able to walk through parks and watching dogs, but she touched a couple of dogs.

After a second reinforcing session, she touched a larger size dog and arranged with friends to walk their dogs and stated that she was now completely in control and over her phobia.

Freda also used to be very fearful of lifts and resolving the dogs phobia also enabled her to take the lift comfortably.

So what have I done? What was so special about the model of therapy I adopted? Well, although I would like to tell you that I have magic powers and a magic wand in my pocket, the reality is that the combination of traditional psychology, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and hypnosis was all that was needed.

I have started by analysing the issue and finding out whether the resolution of the root cause of the same would have been sufficient to let go of the phobia. Freda did not have a conscious memory of any event that might have caused the issue and therefore I decided to work with some NLP “techniques” before using hypnosis per se. And again, the “techniques” adopted are simply the NLP concepts adapted to the subjects specific personality and requirements. It is important for therapist to understand that there are no such things as scripts; the scripts are created by you by using your knowledge and expertise in your discipline and adapt them to the specific client as to create the most beneficial change. Everyone is different and a script stays the same and it cannot consequently work on everybody.

After establishing some basis for change which included Freda taking responsibility for her behaviour and therefore realising that she had the power to change, I have used association techniques and lot of “anchoring” on the first session (which enabled Freda to touch a couple of dogs) and a quick hypnosis session a few days later to empower Freda’s self belief and control over her thoughts. This enabled Freda not only to be comfortable around dogs, but to proactively look for opportunities (intelligently without putting herself at risk by approaching random dogs) to be near dogs and interact with them. Freda is now free, she walks her friend’s dog, she walks through parks and she is in charge of her life.

So, if you are engaged in a behaviour which you feel you have no control over and wish to change, believe that you can change. Believe that you can become the person you want to become because you really can. Seek professional advice and take responsibility and you WILL change.

9 out of 10 therapists would not have taken on a client like Freda, probably thinking that they would have been just another failure on Freda’s book. If you believe that you can help your clients to change that you really can; by strongly believing in your own ability, experience and desire you will make massive changes in people; changes that scripts cannot make. These are changes that only your passion, knowledge, experience and beliefs can help you make. Of course studies and experience are very important, essential in fact; however once you have those, rely on your skills not on scripts or statistics.

Are You Afraid Of Being Judged By Others?

Scientists have found that people who suffer from social phobia respond in a different way to negative comments about themselves, than other people do.

What characterizes this phobia is fearing and avoiding social situations, and fearing being judged negatively by other people, the authors say. It is without a doubt the most frequent anxiety disorder among the general population.

If you have social phobia there’s also a higher risk for depression and other forms of self-destructive behaviors. We need other people in order to feel good. We need a social network to function properly as human beings.

Studies have shown that persons with the phobia tend to have an increased emotional responsiveness to social interactions.

This research published in the Archives of General Psychiatry (Oct 2008) was done using brain imaging technology, also known as MRI.

How This Study Was Made

This study was carried out by doing fMRI-brain scans.

First they scanned the brains of 17 individuals who were socially phobic but wasn’t taking any medication. And then they compared those to an equal number of control subjects who were of the same age, sex and IQ, but who did not have any social phobia.

The brain scans were taken while the test subject read various statements – positive, negative or neutral. “You are lovely”, could be an example of positive statement. “You look awful” – negative. “You are human” – neutral. The statements could refer either to themselves or someone else, for example “She is beautiful”.

What Did The Results Show?

When people with social anxiety disorder (phobia) read negative comments about themselves you could see the blood flow to the amygdala and prefrontal cortex increase. These are parts of the brain that are associated with a person’s self-concept but also fear, fight-or-flight emotions and stress.

The authors’ conclusion was that the medial prefrontal cortex and amgydala, in connection with each other, might play a crucial role in the development of generalized social phobia.

So having a negative attitude toward yourself can contribute to social phobia.

Start living anxiety-free today,

Article by Mark Horner

Introduction

Arachnophobia is the scientific name for the fear of spiders. It is a very specific phobia; i.e. an abnormal fear of spiders and sometimes other arachnids, too, such as scorpions and harvestmen. Many people are afraid of spiders and most of us get shivers down our spine just thinking about those pointy little eight legs crawling on our skin. However, a serious case of arachnophobia is much different than someone who just doesn’t like spiders.

Those who suffer from the phobia are not only afraid of spiders, but they also fear places where spiders might be, and since that’s pretty much everywhere, this can lead to a very limited lifestyle. People with arachnophobia tend to feel uneasy in any area they believe could harbour spiders or that has visible signs of their presence, such as webs. There are people whose arachnophobia is so severe that they will not go outside during the summer months for fear of encountering a spider. But even that doesn’t solve the problem because a big issue for those with arachnophobia is that spiders commonly live in houses, too.

There are some that think that arachnophobia is a rampant deep primeval repulsion of spiders, despite spiders offering tremendous benefits to humans such as eliminating harmful insects from our environment. Arachnophobia is in fact a kind of fear of something that causes negligible or no actual danger. But try telling a sufferer that!

Arachnophobia can be so infectious that there have even been cases where the dogs of spider-phobic families become start running for cover at the first sign of an eight-legged beastie!

At the end of the day, people usually don’t fear spiders because they are poisonous; they fear them because they are just afraid of them. One way to prevent the development of arachnophobia at an early stage is to teach your child to recognise the difference between the nature of spiders and his or her beliefs and imaginings.

Causes

The causes of phobias in general often are not known, but they may begin with a traumatic event in which a person is severely frightened by a particular object, in this case, a spider.

Arachnophobia is, in many cases, the result of a traumatising encounter with spiders in one’s early childhood, though the experience may not be remembered. This is called a repressed memory. Therefore, most people consider arachnophobia to be a learned experience, the result of a trauma (remembered or not), or because of a series of negative images or events. It is known that children up to the age of two or three are not normally scared of spiders, so it’s unlikely arachnophobia is inherited.

From a general population point of view, arachnophobia is considered to be a cultural fear that has been passed down to us for centuries because spiders were once believed to be the cause of the bubonic plague. In many areas of Europe, the spider appears to have been a suitable target for the displaced anxieties caused by these constant epidemics; in other cases, its proximity to the real causes of the epidemics may have fostered opportunistic associations between spiders and disease. These misplaced cultural fears have done little to ease human relationships with our eight-legged friends.

Symptoms

The common and regular symptoms of arachnophobia are: breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak, unable to think clearly, fear of dying, losing psychological control, an enormous detachment from reality. These are classic panic/anxiety attack symptoms and are common to a wide variety of phobias.

Treatment

One-to-one treatment of arachnophobia usually consists of some sort of desensitising (gradually increasing exposure to spiders) therapy along with cognitive therapy (learning spider facts). Apparently when arachnophobia is extreme, other types of desensitisation (liking frequently dealing with real life spiders) is enough to keep many arachnophobes out of treatment.

Knowing something about your phobia, especially if it’s directed at some other thing or place, is going to be an important part of overcoming your phobia and arachnophobia is a good example.

Hypnotherapy helps by creating a relaxing and safe environment for the sufferer to explore and resolve the cause of the problem while enjoying a highly relaxed and comfortable state called hypnosis. This can be done in the physical presence of a hypnotherapist or by using the many excellent spider phobia hypnosis recordings available. The latter is a cheap and easy solution and saves the time and cost of finding and visiting your local hypnotherapist. The best recordings even offer a comprehensive money-back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose and your peace of mind to gain.

Conclusion

Spiders are virtually everywhere. They have been for millions of years and will be so for millions more. They are even known to survive in areas of nuclear fall-out! But we don’t have to fear them. Trust me, getting over arachnophobia is one of the easiest things to do. There are plenty of avenues open to us to rid ourselves of any irrational fear, and arachnophobia is no exception.

You owe it to yourself to relax that grip that your mind has over you when you see or imagine a spider. Then you can get on with enjoying your life without that creepy feeling of looking over your shoulder all the time…

Article by Alan Densky

Although it is typical for everyone to experience fears, having a phobia is a more serious matter. A phobia is an extreme fear that is seemingly beyond one’s control. Phobias are considered to be a type of anxiety disorder, and often trigger nervousness and anxiety attacks in an individual. When a person has a phobia, they become so determined to avoid their fear that it interferes with their daily lives and their ability to live life.

Some of the most common phobias are acrophobia, the fear of heights, claustrophobia, a fear of enclosed spaces, and arachnophobia, the fear of spiders. Arachnophobia is the most common phobia. Although lots of people are afraid of spiders, those with arachnophobia possess an unusual amount of fear. Even a photograph or realistic rendering of an arachnid can make some people uneasy. Some arachnophobes have panic attacks or panic at the sight of an arachnid. They are often willing to do anything in order to get away from a spider; for example, people with extreme arachnophobia might attempt to get out of a moving car if they see a spider in the car.

Sufferers often feel humiliated by their uncontrollable responses. Other people and even the sufferers themselves often see their behavior as irrational. Their anxiety over spiders and their reaction to arachnids may cause other problems as well. Arachnophobia and other phobias may lead to another phobia known as agoraphobia.

Agoraphobia may arise when a person fears being in any potentially stressful area or situation. For a person with arachnophobia, this can mean avoiding any area a spider may be hiding, unfamiliar places, and even avoiding leaving the house or going outdoors altogether. This can negatively interfere with a person’s quality of life. A person may be worried about having anxiety attacks or humiliating him or herself by losing control. Many people find themselves chronically stressed out over these fears.

People with phobias frequently struggle with the inability to control their fears. This is due to the fact that the root of the problem lies in the unconscious mind; so conscious effort or willpower can’t work to control an intense phobia. A phobia is best treated at the unconscious level, which is why Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the best phobia treatments.

There are many different hypnotherapy programs available for treating phobias. Most use older forms of hypnosis that rely on the use of post-hypnotic suggestions with very specific wording to combat fears. These days, post-hypnotic suggestions often do not work because most people have a tendency to question and analyze everything. And since today’s population tends to do the exact opposite of what they are told, post-hypnotic suggestions don’t work and they experience an entirely conflicting response.

Ericksonian hypnosis therapy is different from traditional hypnotherapy because it uses indirect suggestions that are hidden in conversation. This makes them hard for the conscious mind to pick out and reject, so they are more likely to make it through to the unconscious mind and be adopted.

The procedure typically begins by using relaxation hypnosis to make you feel completely calm and receptive. Then, instead of simply “telling” your unconscious what to do, Ericksonian techniques use metaphors and stories to steer your mind into a fear-free thought process.

NLP treatments work by honing in on the particular thought process that creates an extreme phobia and using it to eliminate the fear. Because of this, NLP can be used on any phobia.

People respond much better to the combination of NLP and Ericksonian techniques than to traditional hypnosis because instead of receiving direct commands, the unconscious mind is persuaded to follow a new, more logical thought process. These hypnosis programs are especially effective for people who are analytical, critical thinkers and people who think independently.

You don’t need a different hypnosis program for each different phobia. A single program that includes numerous sessions with the perfect combination of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can treat any phobia. Furthermore, a good program will work for every user. The variety of separate techniques in several different sessions ensures success for everyone who uses them. By going through each step of the process, people are often amazed at how easily they beat their fears.

Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP focus on changing irrational behaviors and fears into rational, calm responses. For many people fighting crippling fears such as an irrational fear of spiders, this is a life-changing therapy. Hypnosis therapy is a powerful tool for beating anxieties and fears to live a better life.

Article by Ari Saario

“Torture” is the word Alan uses to describe it. “Every time I walked into an office,” he says, “I would start sweating profusely, and I didn’t think I would be able to talk -even if my life depended on it. Then I would start to feel this intense heat rise and I would turn bright red. I feel like running away but of course I can’t. And it’s getting worse every time. I sometimes feel I can’t leave my home at all”Alan suffers from social phobia, a condition characterized by an intense fear of being scrutinized by others and of being publicly humiliated. The person with social phobia believes that all eyes are on him… And that he will embarrass himself. The anxiety can lead to panic-like attacks including such

symptoms as heart palpitations, faintness, shortness of breath, and profuse sweating.

One thing is sure: Alan is not alone. Studies suggest that the lives of millions of people are impaired by social phobia. Consider just some fears that are associated with this debilitating condition.

Eating in the presence of others:

Since people suffering from social phobia believe that they are being scrutinized, even a simple meal can become a nightmare. They worry that their hands will shake, that they will spill their food or miss their mouths,or even that they will get sick.

These fears can become self-fulfilling prophecies because the more you worry about the possibility of doing something embarrassing, the more anxious you become. The more anxious you become, the more likely you are to actually begin trembling and spilling that food.

Public speaking:

Granted, almost everyone gets jittery when standing before an audience. But the social phobic experiences a wave of terror that is intense and unremitting, and it does not diminish with practice. The sufferer is certain that he will humiliate himself, and of course the more he thinks of the prospect of embarrassment, the more anxious he gets.

Writing in the presence of others:

Fearing that their hand will shake, many panic when they have to sign a check or perform any other writing task while being watched. This too can become a self-fulfilling prophecy about all the embarrassing prospects.

Interacting with people:

Some fear virtually any situation that involves mingling with others. Often, they are particularly terrified of making eye contact. People with social phobias often feel anxious as they are uncertain where to direct they eyes and they imagine others will misinterpreted their gaze.Hence, with their body language, they reveal their anxiety – and yes: it is bound to become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

So, how do people cope?

Perhaps the most common coping strategy is avoidance. Many simply stay away from the situations that they dread. In time, however, many sufferers find that avoidance imprisons them rather than protects them and consequently breaking the social phobia becomes even more difficult. Every act of avoidance makes that trap easier to fall into the next time-until avoidance becomes an almost automatic response.

Some sufferers routinely decline all invitations or turn down job opportunities that involve interacting with people. As a result, they never learn to confront their fears and conquer them.

In effect people then let their fears and imagined rejections choose for them even their careers. They don’t even try a career they would love to because they have decided in advance that they would be a failure.

Good news:

There is, however, good news about social phobia: It is treatable. As examples above show, we actually learn (often subconsciously) to react in certain ways in anxiety-causing situations. And we learn the ways of coping with those situations. Like when we automatically avoid situations and thus make it even more difficult for us on future situations. Or when we fear something -which then becomes a nasty self-fulfilling prophesy.

In effect, we have ‘conditioned our mind’ to become anxious! The secret is: We can also learn to condition our mind to react in a non anxious way.

What happens when you learn this? Instead of suffering from those humiliating self-fulfilling prophesies in (previously) anxiety-causing situations; A POSITIVE, DESIRED RESULT WILL BECOME THE SELF-FULFILLING PROPHESY!

Automatically.

Instead of fearing that you will fail you know that you will succeed…and you know that even if not…you will not embarrass yourself! You will not get anxious! And this WILL increase your self confidence!

And you will speak with confidence in public…

Would that be good?

Article by Alan Densky

Consider a life limited by fear and anxiety, in which every feat is examined and even the least decision is angst-ridden. Hours are expended scrutinizing daily tasks or circumstances that many people carry out easily. According to the National Institute of Health, more than 40 million adults in the United States who endure anxiety disorders have this type of life.

Concordantly, about 18 percent of those living in the United States endure a kind of a panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, general anxiety disorder or phobias, such as a social phobia, agoraphobia, or a specific phobia, which embody common fears of items such as germs, heights or elevators.

Are you like those people? Many people aren’t sure how to tell if their natural concerns have transformed into a phobia. A phobia is classified as an irrational fear or dread. If someone comes upon a phobia trigger, they might become panicked with increased heart rate and respiration. Commonly, he or she might feel a choking sensation or their hands get sweaty. They may also have ringing in their ears and recognize they are unable to concentrate on the environs.

Like any unpleasant consciousness, people will try great lengths to elude the happenings, places or things that produce them. If someone has a social phobia, they may evade social settings, or if it is a common phobia, including coffins or spiders, people who possess a phobia will seek to elude those triggers.

The anxiety disorder phobia could be one of the most difficult to unravel because subsequent problems often result from the anxiety / phobia relationship, such as despair or substance abuse. In fact, many people who suffer from one anxiety disorder often cultivate more anxiety disorders.

Though it may be useful to meet with a mental health professional to analyze your phobia and inspect the origin of it, the essential action is beginning treatment for the anxiety and phobia. Several therapeutic approaches exist for successfully eliminating a phobia, including talk therapy, drugs, systematic desensitization, hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Typically, drug treatments for anxiety and phobia treatment can include sedatives, which actually worsen the difficulty because they don’t focus on the underlying reason for the phobia. Other mental health professionals prefer to use talk therapy; however, talking about or even thinking about the condition or environment of the principal anxiety phobia can cause a panic attack.

Traditional hypnosis – which simply assists the subject to accomplish a relaxed hypnotic state and then offering post-hypnotic suggestions or commands can be very successful if the person is open to it. However, a lot of people with phobias discard the idea that they will be more comfortable and at ease when they are challenged with the environment or situation that prompts anxiety from the associated phobia.

Knowing the challenges and even impediments of other forms of treatment for phobias, systematic desensitization can be a helpful treatment. It is the course of gradually desensitizing a person to the trigger that sets off the anxiety disorder phobia and ensuing panic attacks.

For instance, if a subject aims to conquer a phobia of dogs, she is asked to first sit down and envision a dog until she is secure with the image. Then, she is given a photograph of a dog to view. Perhaps she moves forward to embracing a toy dog and so on until she is able to remain in the presence of a canine without the panic symptoms – possibly even pet it.

The main point is that, following each progression, the subject acknowledges that nothing bad occurred and that she is protected. If at any time she feels panic or fear, the therapist asks the client to revert to the preceding step until she has gotten back a sense of security.

Thankfully, there is a tactic to make this process less painful and frightening: Systematic desensitization can be carried out as the subject is in a relaxed hypnosis state. While in a relaxed hypnotic trance, the client would be asked to execute the same actions, but she would actually feel very peaceful as she visualized herself feeling relaxed and comfortable in the situation that provokes anxiety.

Just as in the live systematic desensitization that happens without the benefit of hypnosis, if she feels any anxiety concerning her phobia, she is directed to step back to the previous action. The only disadvantage is that this method can necessitate a fair amount of time to beget release from a phobia.

The fastest and most effective technique to get rid of a phobia is a Neuro-Linguistic Programming practice called a Visual/Kinesthetic Disassociation. It often cures the subject of a chronic phobia in just one session. The method actually programs clients to disassociate, or mentally step outside of themselves at the time that they would typically begin their anxiety attack. The process literally splits the subjective emotions from the mental images that produce the panic attack in the first place.

CONCLUSION: While any phobia treatment that someone undertakes will necessitate work and commitment, systematic desensitization coupled with hypnosis can offer an effective cure. But the NLP Visual/Kinesthetic Disassociation can offer an answer that almost seems magical by allowing the subject to triumph over the phobia quickly with significantly less – perhaps even no discomfort or panic.

Social Anxiety Disorder, also known simply as Social Phobia or Social Anxiety is perhaps the most commone form of anxiety disorder known.

In fact, it’s so common that it is believed to affect somewhere around 10% of the entire population in one degree or another.

What’s more, it can affect absolutely anyone – from housewife to movie star.

Renowned entertainers who have spent years in the public eye — from Barbara Streisland to Kim Basinger — have spoken publicly of their experience and recovery from social phobia and anxiety.

And the effects of Social Anxiety Disorder and social phobia can be truly debilitating, if not devastating.

Actual physical symptoms often accompany this particular disorder and these can include increased heart rate and palpitations, sweating and blushing, shaking and trembling, stammering and nausea. In acute cases, the person may feel dizzy and as if he or she is about to pass out.

All this, of course, simply serves to intensify the fear.

The true fear underpinning this disorder is very often the fear of being negatively judged and evaluated by others. This fear can force the individual to become fearful and terrified of doing anything that has the potential to prove embarrassing to them in public.

Amongst the most common forms are fear of social interaction, fear of dealing with authority figures, fear of public speaking or performing, fear of exams and fear in connection with sexual performance.

Very often this disorder has its origins in childhood and infancy.

Indeed, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) estimates that somewhere around 40% of all such phobias begin before the age of 10, and a gigantic 95% before the age of 20. This is usually the case, even when the actual symptoms do not become painfully apparent until later in life.

Left unresolved and untreated, depression can develop and some may turn to alcohol and drugs in order to cope.

All too frequently the medical response to social phobia and Social Anxiety Disorder is to simply drug it, often with anti-anxiety medication – selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSIRs) such as Paxil or Seroxat (paroxetine) being particularly favored.

When psychotherapy is offered, it is usually in the form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

While both these approaches may provide a degree of relief to some sufferers, the emphasis of both is on managing the symptoms rather than actually treating and removing the underlying cause and drivers.

And, in the experience of this therapist, as long as the drivers remain intact then, sooner or later, the anxiety will return – and, all too regularly, with a real vengeance.

There is another way.

You see, the subconscious mind – that repository of beliefs – is merely attempting to protect the person from what it perceives to be danger, and so is manufacturing intense feelings of anxiey or fear so that he or she will be kept safe from harm. But the subconscious has got it wrong. It’s basing its response upon prior conditioning which is simply no longer appropriate.

With the techniques and strategies of modern advanced hypnotherapy, we can reach into the subconscious, to where the negative feelings are generated, and realign the faulty beliefs that are responsible for keeping the ‘program’ running.

Once this is accomplished, the symptoms – social phobia and social anxiety – just become extinct because there is nothing there to drive them anymore.

If you have been struggling with the really debilitating effects of social phobia or social anxiety disorder, do not give up — effective help is available.

With modern and advanced hypnotherapy techniques, you can be returned to your true nature and be released from that old anxiety and fear for good.

Social phobia disorder, you seem to hear those words constantly these days? I will make a short list of symptoms that go in conjunction with this disorder, Then you judge whether you are suffering from this illness or not. If you do answer yes to the list below, this article is the best thing you could read all day. After i go through a couple of the symptoms,i will then brief you on the technique to control this condition.

Symptoms of social phobia disorder!

*Afraid to leave the house.*Uncomfortable in crowded places.*Problems speaking in public.*Dislike being around other people at social events.*Turn down social events.*Afraid of confined areas.*Restricting in breathing in public.*Panic attacks.

The list goes on, and on!

Every where you tend to go now days there seems to be old therapies that claim to treat social phobia disorder. I can not understand how any one is suppose to treat this illness, when all that is given is purely something to cover the anxious feelings.

The minute we tell the Dr about how we feel they tell us your stressed, your having anxious thoughts, you need to slow down. Then they start writing out scripts for prescription drugs. And last but not least, they then send you to a local shrink that has not solved a case in 20 years.

Why do i know his? i suffered from social phobia disorder for 13 years.I lived the night mare, and might i add not one thing helped me. Infact in the end i was worse off, as the shrink brought up all my past. I think it created more then social phobia disorder for me from that day on.

Social phobia disorder is created from fear, fear of being in public. Now the main reason we get anxious is because we don’t trust our selves to be safe. We start to imagine all sorts of crazy what ifs.

Thought pattern of a sufferer from social phobia disorder!

*I can not go out to day i may have an anxiety attack.*If i get on the train i will feel trapped and i may need to use the bathroom, oh no then i will have a panic attack.*I can not que up as i will get anxious and i may pass out.*I can not control a panic attack.

All of this words should sound very familiar to a social phobia disorder victim!

Ok this is the solution.Panic is only in our minds, we create it, and the more we fear it, the more it controls our thoughts. From this day forward you need to do 3 things.

*Except panic attack in your life.*Become familiar with it’s side effect.*Request it to give all it has got, bye this i mean bring on the full attack.*Then invite it back.At this point your probably thinking I’m crazy.First thing you should never do is push anxiety away, you need to deal with the emotional side of it’s effects. Think about this, what has actually happened to you when you have had an attack. You are still here right? it did not kill you, and i WILL reassure you panic will not harm you physically. It gets it’s strength only from the way you react to it.

Retrain your thought pattern to control and cure this disorder!

We all have a degree of fear of something or a number of things. A great fear is referred to as a phobia; your body has an inbuilt mechanism of fight-or-flight when confronted with the threatening stimulus.

One such stimulus is the fear of dental care and fear of pain associated with it, otherwise called dental phobia.

Dental phobia refers to the general fear of dentistry and of receiving dental care. A pathological form of specific phobia is variously called dental fear, dentophobia, dentist phobia, or dental anxiety. It is a very common anxiety, that often involves other fears that are more defined, specific, and individual. One of these fears is the fear of pain and research suggests that about 20% of dental phobics have a concurrent psychiatric disorder, notably Generalized Anxiety Disorder, agoraphobia, depression, and emetophobia. According to this research, women tend to experience more degree of dental fear than men, and younger people report being more dental phobic than older people. Sufferers from this phobia explain this behavior on a prior painful memory when they were young.

They remember the visit as particularly traumatic, difficult, and/or painful one. However, painful or traumatic the dental visit experience, it is not enough to cause dental phobia. Below is a list of other indirect experiences that may result to dental phobia:Indirect Causes Of Dental Phobia

Explicit learning: Extreme degree of dental fear may develop, as people hear about other’s traumatic experiences or negative views of dentistry through vicarious learning. Mass media: The negative reporting of dentistry in mass media and cartoons in printed medias may also contribute to the development of dental phobia.Stimulus Generalization: A previous traumatic experience in a non-dental context may also cause one to develop fear towards dental procedure. A bad experience with a clinician for example, or unpleasant hospital physical environment, may lead people to fear of white coats and antiseptic smells. This is one reason why dentists nowadays often choose to wear less “threatening” apparel. Helplessness and Perceived Lack of Control: Most of the people love to have control over circumstances in their life and if a person believes that they have no means of influencing a negative event, they will experience helplessness. This lack of control is reported to be the lead cause of fear and the perception that the dentist will stop when the patient gives a stop signal lessens fear.

How Is Dental Phobia Measured?

There are various instruments used to diagnose phobia of dental care and they include such fear instrument as Corah’s Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and a shorter version, the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS). However, if you suffer from Dental Phobia, you won’t find it too hard to beat the high score; the symptoms will be a good indicator. Your body will response with such symptoms as shortness of breath, breathing difficulties, and anxiety at the mere thought of visiting the dentist.

Last Call!

Whatever the cause of this situation, you don’t have to be scared to visit the dentist. Stop by great websites such as http://www.preemtivehealing.com for outstanding anesthesia practices and techniques that are designed to free your mind of dental phobia.

Question by JarJar Binks: How do you manage extreme social phobia?
I have such extreme social phobia that i work graveyard shifts. I have panic attacks if I have to go to a gathering and I have some symptoms of schizoid personalty disorder and have all the symptoms of avoidant personality disorder. I feel trapped in a chronic state of fear. I suffer from panic attacks all the time and I don’t have any friends because I’m afraid of people so it’s too hard to make new friends. Should I get on medication?

Best answer:

Answer by Willa
YES! i have been on meds for my social phobia for the past 6 months and it has really helped.

I’m on klonopin and it is a LIFESAVER(although some doctors are not so into prescribing it because it is potentially addictive)

You NEED to see a doctor and explore different alternatives, you don’t deserve to live that way.

Social anxiety or social phobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by severe and persistent anxiety when in social situations, be it when interacting with others, or even only being observed.

People suffering from social phobia fear of being amongst (unfamiliar) people, because they will feel under scrutiny and anxious of behaving in a way that might humiliate or embarrass them.

People with social phobia are aware their fears are irrational and their anxiety over exaggerated, but apprehension will make them do whatever it takes to evade facing the feared situation.

This greatly interferes with normal life activities of people suffering from social phobia. They will start avoiding all sorts of social situations – and when that proves inevitable, they will be extremely worried – sometimes for weeks in advance. This is called “anticipatory anxiety”.

When the dreaded event is over, they will continue worrying how they’ve appeared to others. Did they found them anxious, or strange, or…?

This only increases the level of anticipatory anxiety they will feel the next time, and the vicious circle of social phobia continues…

It is natural to feel some degree of anxiety and self-consciences in certain social situations, like speaking in public or attending a job interview.

What’s different with social phobics is that their fear is continually present and their anxiety out of proportions to the actual situation.

Social anxiety disorder is not just shyness or nervousness.

Social anxiety is a medical condition that can lead to a number of emotional and physical symptoms.

People who suffer from social anxiety find everyday tasks, like going grocery shopping or answering the phone, overwhelmingly stressful or even downright impossible to handle. That can cost them not only their social life, but even a job, and can leave them on the margins of society.

Because some level of social fear is perfectly normal and expected in some situations, social anxiety disorder is often left undiagnosed and untreated. It is estimated that about 3 – 13 % of population suffers from social anxiety in some form or way.

According to Social Anxiety Institute, social phobia is the largest anxiety disorder, and the third largest mental health care problem in the world today.

It is estimated that about one quarter of all people with social anxiety disorder use alcohol to self-medicate in order to appear more social.

Other comorbid disorders commonly occurring with social phobia are agoraphobia and major depression.

Social phobia affects men and women equally.

It usually appears before the age of 25.

Studies suggest that there’s no one single cause of social anxiety disorder, but rather an unfortunate combination of different biological and psychological factors. An imbalance of brain chemicals – serotonin neurotransmitters, some scientists noted, may be linked with this disorder.

Social phobia, however, can be “cured”!

Social anxiety treatment usually includes medication and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Social anxiety disorder can be disabling if left untreated. If you suspect that you, or someone you know, may have symptoms of social anxiety disorder, don’t hesitate to seek help from a qualified medical professional!

Being afraid of meeting new people, or worried for days or weeks before an event that involves socializing with people.
Feeling terrible playing games or speaking before audience, worried that you might do something embarrassing.
Having symptoms like blushing, trembling, heart beat accelerating before a public activity that involves lots of strangers.

These are so called social phobia, which is the third largest mental health problem in the world. Social phobia can cause difficulty when you do something within your power, or keep you from function normally on your every day life. You should get rid of social phobia. There are lots of ways there claim that they are the best social phobia treatment which I can not guarantee, but here are three basic social phobia treatment.

First one is medication. You can get medication from your doctor or social phobia expert. Most of them contain depressant, which can keep you calm, thus helping you be more natural before audience. But this is not recommend, as drugs can only take effect a long time after its taken, and can cause you be drug-addicted or medicine-depended, which is not a good idea. Because what really make you calm or not social phobia is the medicine that you take, which means, the depressant, not that you have actually become not “social phobia”.

Second treatment is the psychotherapy method. You may consult to a certified psychiatrist for advice. The therapist may teaches you some techniques to control your mind and your behavior before you become social phobia. Exposure-based behavioral method, which exposes the sick to the situation where they encounter when feel uncomfortable, but without the urge to get anxious, thus making them become familiar with such situation without getting phobia.

The last social phobia treatment is natural treatment, which involves food and some others ways that does not bother to consult to a doctor or a psychiatrist, which might take a little longer time.

So if you are unfortunately being one of the social phobia member, do not lose hope, there are lots of treatment that may help you to get out of such situations.

I myself is a social phobia man, having realising that this will cause great difficulties in my future life, I decide to start my own website (whose address is in my signature) to share my feelings about social phobia and my methods to overcome this mental illness. Hope that I can help more people like me.

        <!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>
Introduction

In this article you will learn how to help a friend or loved one cope and recover from panic attacks, by using a method called self exposure. A way for them to slowly become accustomed to the things and situations that make them uncomfortable. You will also learn how to avoid mistakes that would do more harm than good. Mistakes family and friends make with good intentions, but may only serve to have them avoid the things and situations that cause them anxiety

Learning the techniques of Exposure Therapy

You will need to learn about anxiety disorders and exposure treatment. If your friend or loved one has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, focus on that particular disorder. There are many good online works on exposure therapy you can read to prepare yourself to help them. I have included a brief description of Four different anxiety disorders.

Don’t feel that you can’t possibly help without being a qualified behavioral therapist. The main influences in our lives are the people around us, not the experts or professionally trained.

Is the person you want to help ready?

After learning the techniques of exposure therapy, discussing them with the person you wish to help may get them to give the techniques a try. Help cannot be forced on anybody. They must make a conscious decision of their own to accept your help and work at confronting their fears. He or she may not know the rewards of trying hard and might, consciously or unconsciously, believe that the techniques won’t work and would not be worth the effort.

The importance of trust

People don’t accept help from someone they can’t trust. If you’ve promised to help, stick to your word and take it seriously. You must prove to them that you can be trusted and relied on. Your actions are more important than what you say. If you don’t do the things you said you would, they will lose their trust in you. The person you want to help should not have to feel grateful that you actually kept your promise(this time). They may get discouraged and loose interest in trying to confront their fears.

You will need to be unobtrusive, fully attentive and supportive. Always be exactly where they need you to be. You should never act board or complain. Remember that you’re there to help them overcome something that makes them very uncomfortable. Pushing them to hard, nagging or threatening, will more likely discourage them than increase their efforts.

Brief descriptions of some Anxiety Disorders

Social Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia. A person with social phobia may feel moderate to extreme anxiety in certain situations. They may be self-conscious at social events. Some of the physical symptoms of social anxiety disorder are difficulties talking, blushing, sweating, and nausea. They often feel they are being watched and judged. Somebody with social phobia may also fear embarrassing themselves in front of others. For more information on social anxiety disorder, symptoms and treatments.

Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Anxiety disorder is sometimes called panic disorder. Someone with anxiety disorder may have moderate to severe panic attacks. They may or may not know what triggers their fears. Some of the physical symptoms of panic disorder are heart palpitations, chest pains, dizziness, shortness of breath and stomach pains. These symptoms can be severe enough to make them think they are having a heart attack or may die.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and its symptoms

Obsessive compulsive disorder is another form of anxiety disorder. A person with OCD has re-occurring unwanted thoughts that caused them to feel anxious. They perform rituals in an attempt to distract themselves from their obsessive thoughts and relief the anxiety they feel. The physical symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder are similar to other anxiety disorders. Some of the rituals they may perform are listed below.

checking repeatedly if the doors locked
rearranging things after somebody has disturbed them
repeatedly combing their hair or checking their make up
cleaning something multiple times
counting
repeatedly washing hands

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and its symptoms

Somebody with generalized anxiety disorder spends most or all of their time worrying excessively. People with GAD are extremely concerned about things some people would feel are trivial or of little consequence. Unlike with some other anxiety disorders, a person with generalized anxiety disorder don’t usually avoid situations that cause them anxiety. Some of the concerns they may have are health conditions, difficulties at work or money. The physical symptoms of GAD are similar to other anxiety disorders.

Mel Wilson is part of what today would be considered a large family. He believes that most of his immediate family is suffering from mental disorders. Some of them professionally diagnosed with mental disorders including, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In an attempt to understand and help, he has read everything he could find about mental disorders and their treatments. He has learned that you can’t help somebody that won’t admit they have a problem.
There are many causes of panic attacks and there are cases that even prove that panic attacks might be an inherited problem. Whether inherited or not it is an established fact that panic attacks can affect anyone

Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks and are looking for a natural cure?

Click here now to see what worked for me >> Natural cure for panic attacks >>

Is it possible that self hypnosis recordings can help you to stop panic attacks? The answer is yes especially when combined with NLP techniques. Wherever and whenever you started having panic attacks and for whatever reason you can be cured

During and after your first attack you will often find that family members and friends may be worried for you at first but then being ignorant on the subject they become frustrated and blame you for the condition. Once you yourself understand panic attacks better you can help others learn what is happening to you

Panic attacks are never pleasant and the first one is enough to make everyone wish they never have another for as long as they live. However there is a problem when you try to stop panic attacks through mere thought because that is impossible. People dwell so much on them that they might as well be worrying themselves into another attack. In fact too much thinking about panic attacks can establish a permanent trigger that will set an attack off just by concentrating too much on the fear of having it. People often tend to get needlessly worked up and heighten their anxiety by worrying about how to stop panic attacks. All this makes it only makes it worse because after the first people are laying the foundation of what they think will stop panic attacks instead of encouraging that bad experience

There are many common symptoms of panic attacks. When an individual experiences a panic attack various symptoms occur that can leave that person in a state of devastation. Generally these attacks last as little as five minutes and can be as long as a half an hour

It is easy to cure panic attacks fast without any medication when you understand the causes and triggers of your panic attacks. Establishing control over these panic attacks sensations will help you move away from them in as fast as 4 weeks. Here are some panic attacks self help tips

Are you or any of your loved ones or neighbor suffering from frequent panic attacks? If so do not despair. It may surprise you to know that tens of millions of Americans currently suffer from panic attacks and anxiety disorder
