Social phobia is the third mental illness after depression and alcoholism; meanwhile because people are now facing increasing pressure, so the number of people suffering from social phobia is increasing day by day. As to doctors, the difficulty to treat these patients does not lie in the increasing number of the patients suffering from social phobia but in the fact that people often are reluctant to see the doctor because they are afraid of contacting with strangers or being posted as “mental illness” patients. Social phobia is caused primarily by a “fear” psychology, such as being afraid of meeting strangers, fearing of embarrassment, fearing of self-expression and so on. Such disease is caused gradually and therefore the patients should gradually develop the ability to adapt to the outside world and more consciously contact with the people around them. Although at first they would not be in the habit, and sometimes even gaffe scene and thus feeling embarrassed, they should be aware that people are not born with any kind of good social and psychological means and therefore, most of them need to participate in social activities to cultivate such ability in order to become comfortable with it. To prevent social phobia, one should psychologically remove from sense of inferiority when participating in the social life. With a negative psychological, one may not either want to talk too much nor to participate into more activities. In fact, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. If one is not as good as others at participating into the social life, this does not mean that he is not as good as others in any aspect. One needs to ponder his own strengths. As to those who are not used to socializing, they especially need to remove the inferiority complex, and establish a self-improvement, self-confidence, self-reliance spirit. Only in this way can he overcome the negative psychology and become active and graceful in his manners. To prevent social phobia, one should also overcome the “fear” of participating in social activities. The normal social activities are not with any mystery, and it is only the social interaction between people. Therefore, too much attention to one’s social conversation is in excess and one only needs to be easy-going, generous, and natural and just do as he usually behaves. To prevent social phobia, one should also pay attention to social forms, such as one can bear in mind a clear social content before taking part in the social activities. With the specific social psychological content, the attention can be shift away from oneself to items, and not be overly nervous. If one participates in social activities for the first time, he can be accompanied by a more experienced one, who sings the “leading role” and he sings, “supporting role”, so that one will not long learn other people’s social manner, but also train his own social skills to prevent the emergence of social embarrassment.

Agoraphobia is an abnormal and persistent fear of public places or open areas, especially those from which escape could be difficult or help not immediately accessible. The very word agoraphobia itself lets us know the nature of this debilitating condition. ‘Agora’ comes from the Greek language and it means places where people meet, or a marketplace. ‘Phobia’ is a fear of something. Thus we can understand that people who suffer from agoraphobia have a fear of being in crowded places.
Social Phobia is an interpersonal pattern of behavior which is most likely to appear and cause distress when a person feels that their social goals of asserting their wishes or gaining approval from others are dangerously unattainable or likely to fail. It is a form of self-overprotection from perceived social threats.

This article aims at inspiring both therapists and people “suffering” from a phobia or any other issue for that matter. I believe that people cannot have depression, people can behave depressingly; people cannot have anorexia, people can eat disorderly; people cannot have a phobia, people can behave fearfully etc. These behaviours cannot be purchased at a shop; they cannot be picked up by others. We choose (whether that’s consciously or unconsciously) to be depressed, to eat disorderly, to have that phobia and only when we can accept this do we realise that as we have chosen to have the problem we can now choose to change.
For some individuals phobias of any kind have a constant and limiting effect on their life. No matter how irrational they may appear they are a serious issue for the sufferer.

Are You Afraid Of Being Judged By Others?
Scientists have found that people who suffer from social phobia respond in a different way to negative comments about themselves, than other people do.
What characterizes this phobia is fearing and avoiding social situations, and fearing being judged negatively by other people, the authors say. It is without a doubt the most frequent anxiety disorder among the general population.

Introduction
Arachnophobia is the scientific name for the fear of spiders. It is a very specific phobia; i.e. an abnormal fear of spiders and sometimes other arachnids, too, such as scorpions and harvestmen. Many people are afraid of spiders and most of us get shivers down our spine just thinking about those pointy little eight legs crawling on our skin. However, a serious case of arachnophobia is much different than someone who just doesn’t like spiders.
Those who suffer from the phobia are not only afraid of spiders, but they also fear places where spiders might be, and since that’s pretty much everywhere, this can lead to a very limited lifestyle. People with arachnophobia tend to feel uneasy in any area they believe could harbour spiders or that has visible signs of their presence, such as webs. There are people whose arachnophobia is so severe that they will not go outside during the summer months for fear of encountering a spider. But even that doesn’t solve the problem because a big issue for those with arachnophobia is that spiders commonly live in houses, too.

Although it is typical for everyone to experience fears, having a phobia is a more serious matter. A phobia is an extreme fear that is seemingly beyond one’s control. Phobias are considered to be a type of anxiety disorder, and often trigger nervousness and anxiety attacks in an individual. When a person has a phobia, they become so determined to avoid their fear that it interferes with their daily lives and their ability to live life.
Some of the most common phobias are acrophobia, the fear of heights, claustrophobia, a fear of enclosed spaces, and arachnophobia, the fear of spiders. Arachnophobia is the most common phobia. Although lots of people are afraid of spiders, those with arachnophobia possess an unusual amount of fear. Even a photograph or realistic rendering of an arachnid can make some people uneasy. Some arachnophobes have panic attacks or panic at the sight of an arachnid. They are often willing to do anything in order to get away from a spider; for example, people with extreme arachnophobia might attempt to get out of a moving car if they see a spider in the car.
