In today’s society, it has been estimated that 40 million men and women 18 years and above deal with anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks are commonly attributed to feelings of worry and fear over certain situations and events, which they view that they have no control over it. Although these are emotions that are felt by everyone at certain points in their lives, anxiety attacks are more than just another one of those emotions.

Anxiety attacks is one of the most common mental health conditions that affects men and women of all ages. The different symptoms of anxiety attacks vary depending on the severity of the condition. If left untreated, anxiety attacks can greatly affect the ability of a person to function normally at work, at home and in society.

People struggling with anxiety attacks experience a number of different physical sensations. Some of the common symptoms of anxiety attacks include the tightening of the chest, difficulty in breathing, profuse sweating, heart palpitations, tremors, having a tingling sensation on different parts of the body, feeling of numbness and being nauseated.

Because the symptoms of anxiety attacks happen suddenly, one of the questions that people struggling with anxiety attacks is what causes anxiety attacks. One of the most common causes of anxiety attacks is a development of a perception – whether consciously or unconsciously – about a particular situation or event. Individuals that deal with anxiety attacks have developed a perception of dread and helplessness towards a particular situation or event whether or not there is actually a reason to fear or not.

Another cause of anxiety attacks, according to many psychologists is genetics. Studies have shown that people who have relatives struggling with anxiety attacks are more likely to experience the symptoms of anxiety attacks later on in their life.

Past traumatic experiences are yet another cause of anxiety attacks. War veterans and survivors of violent crimes experience the different symptoms of anxiety attacks when faced with a situation or event that brings back the memories of these horrendous events.

Just because you are struggling with anxiety attacks means that you will need to suffer for the rest of your life. The truth is, there are ways on how to deal with anxiety attacks. Apart from the usual anti-anxiety medications prescribed by psychiatrists, there are also alternative methods of treatment that you can use, including group therapy treatments and herbal remedies, to address the symptoms of anxiety attacks so that you can live a relatively normal life.

Social phobia disorder, you seem to hear those words constantly these days? I will make a short list of symptoms that go in conjunction with this disorder, Then you judge whether you are suffering from this illness or not. If you do answer yes to the list below, this article is the best thing you could read all day. After i go through a couple of the symptoms,i will then brief you on the technique to control this condition.

Symptoms of social phobia disorder!

*Afraid to leave the house.*Uncomfortable in crowded places.*Problems speaking in public.*Dislike being around other people at social events.*Turn down social events.*Afraid of confined areas.*Restricting in breathing in public.*Panic attacks.

The list goes on, and on!

Every where you tend to go now days there seems to be old therapies that claim to treat social phobia disorder. I can not understand how any one is suppose to treat this illness, when all that is given is purely something to cover the anxious feelings.

The minute we tell the Dr about how we feel they tell us your stressed, your having anxious thoughts, you need to slow down. Then they start writing out scripts for prescription drugs. And last but not least, they then send you to a local shrink that has not solved a case in 20 years.

Why do i know his? i suffered from social phobia disorder for 13 years.I lived the night mare, and might i add not one thing helped me. Infact in the end i was worse off, as the shrink brought up all my past. I think it created more then social phobia disorder for me from that day on.

Social phobia disorder is created from fear, fear of being in public. Now the main reason we get anxious is because we don’t trust our selves to be safe. We start to imagine all sorts of crazy what ifs.

Thought pattern of a sufferer from social phobia disorder!

*I can not go out to day i may have an anxiety attack.*If i get on the train i will feel trapped and i may need to use the bathroom, oh no then i will have a panic attack.*I can not que up as i will get anxious and i may pass out.*I can not control a panic attack.

All of this words should sound very familiar to a social phobia disorder victim!

Ok this is the solution.Panic is only in our minds, we create it, and the more we fear it, the more it controls our thoughts. From this day forward you need to do 3 things.

*Except panic attack in your life.*Become familiar with it’s side effect.*Request it to give all it has got, bye this i mean bring on the full attack.*Then invite it back.At this point your probably thinking I’m crazy.First thing you should never do is push anxiety away, you need to deal with the emotional side of it’s effects. Think about this, what has actually happened to you when you have had an attack. You are still here right? it did not kill you, and i WILL reassure you panic will not harm you physically. It gets it’s strength only from the way you react to it.

Retrain your thought pattern to control and cure this disorder!

Are panic attacks affecting you or someone you know? The odds are yes, and there’s probably a lot you don’t know about the incidence and seriousness of panic attacks. They are not just annoying and transient events, but a serious illness that affects millions of people and costs millions of dollars in medical treatment and lost productivity.

Did you know:

* Panic attacks strike approximately 10 percent of the population, or 2.4 million Americans each year.

* Panic attacks affect twice as many women as men. Low estrogen levels have been linked to panic attacks in women.

* Lack of assertiveness is common personality trait in people who suffer panic attacks. A passive style of communicating and interacting with others is often noted in panic attack sufferers and may even contribute to the development or onset of the disorder.

* Panic attacks can run in families, indicating that there may be a hereditary factor involved in susceptibility to this disorder. Studies of identical twins show a wide variance, however. If one twin has an anxiety disorder, the incidence of occurrence in the other twin was found to vary from 31 percent to 88 percent in different studies.

* Brain chemistry imbalances are also believed to cause panic attacks. Research studies have shown that some panic disorder patients lack an emotion-regulating protein in the brain.

* Panic attacks and panic disorder often start to occur in the late teens or early adult years.

* Panic attacks can be triggered major life stresses, such as the loss of a spouse or loved one or other significant life changes.

* Coffee, exercise, and medications can sometimes trigger panic attacks. A diet too high in refined sugar can also induce panic attacks in people with a tendency to them.

* Panic attacks are one of the most treatable mental disorders, but as many as 75 percent of panic attack sufferers are not properly diagnosed and fail to receive appropriate treatment, according to one research study.

* Untreated panic disorder can lead to other serious problems, including other anxiety illnesses such as phobias, alcohol and drug dependency, depression and suicide. It can interfere with the ability to carry out normal daily functions and lead to loss of employment, financial losses, and increased medical costs.

* Panic attacks are not fatal. However, the fear that they are experiencing a heart attack is one of the most commonly cited symptoms among panic attack victims. The racing pulse and smothering, choking feeling cause by shortness of breath lead many first-time sufferers to the emergency room and their doctors. This can be a wise precaution, in fact, because there are some underlying cardiac conditions that can trigger panic attacks.

* Panic attacks can also be caused or triggered by a number of other illnesses. Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis and mitral valve prolapse can cause panic attack. Nocturnal panic attacks can be a symptom of sleep apnea.

* Agoraphobia is actually an offshoot or consequence of panic attacks. If a person has experienced panic attacks in public places, he or she may develop a fear of going out into public.

* Although breathing into a paper bag to regain control and stop hyperventilation is frequently recommended as a strategy for derailing an active panic attack, it can actually be dangerous and make the attack worse.

* Most medical insurance plans will pay for the cost of treatment for panic attacks and other anxiety disorders.

Panic attacks are not a trivial disorder, nor are they hopeless. If you or someone you know is experiencing panic attacks, reach out for assistance. Learn as much as you can, and don’t be afraid to seek the help you need.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder affecting those who have experienced very traumatic events. People with PTSD suffer high levels of anxiety and bouts of depression. Normal day to day life for people with PTSD also gets disrupted by panic episodes or “flashbacks,” where they remember and relive the emotions and thoughts they had during the original trauma.Signs of PTSDThe most common signs of PTSD, according to the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs, include:· Chronic anxiety, where victims experience periods of depression and acute panic attacks;· Flashbacks, where victims recall snippets of the traumatic event;· Sleep disturbances, where victims experience disruptive nightmares and difficulty sleeping;· Avoidance, where victims avoid certain people, places, and situations that they associate with the traumatic event;· Dissociation/Derealization, where victims feel disconnected from other people and from the latest happenings around them, and where they also feel that past or present events didn’t actually happen; and· Hyper-vigilance, where victims feel the need to be constantly on their guard.A few people also suffer from amnesia or memory loss after the trauma. The more persistent and the more serious the PTSD signs and symptoms means the longer one has been exposed to trauma. The National Center for PTSD relates that an estimated 8% of the population will experience Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder at some point in their lives. However, it says, females are twice more likely to seek professional intervention for PTSD than boys afflicted with the disorder. History of PTSD and Risk FactorsThe American Psychiatric Association says that PTSD was first considered as a legitimate psychiatric problem and listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual in 1980. However, the APA notes, doctors and people in the military have long been aware of the condition. The National Institute of Mental Health says that 19% of soldiers who have fought in a war come home with PTSD. The statistic gets higher with repeated tours of duty, like the ones served by American military men in Afghanistan and Iraq.According to the NIMH, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is also seen in people who have survived accidents or major catastrophic events, like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. PTSD is also common among people who have been victims of or have witnessed murder, criminal or domestic violence, and sexual abuse.Treatment and PrognosisA form of PTSD known as Complex PTSD is unique to people who have experienced prolonged and severe trauma. C-PTSD often comes with other psychological problems, making treatment more difficult. If PTSD is identified and treated immediately after the traumatic event, then it usually gets resolved within 3 months. However, signs of PTSD usually do not appear until up to 6 months post-trauma. In some instances, as in the case of long-lasting trauma and C-PTSD, the first signs do not manifest until some years after. In such delayed cases, recovery relies on the individual, as well as on the length of the trauma and the severity of the symptoms. C-PTSD may become a chronic problem and will necessitate long-term care, but most cases resolve in due course with the right kind of intervention.Prognosis for total recovery from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after treatment is excellent.

True fear can only be experienced if there is something truly present, of which you should be frightened. But if there is nothing substantial to be afraid of and you still have a sense of fear accompanied by physical symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, visible shivering and sweating; you may be having anxiety attack symptoms. Inappropriate anxiety creates a sensation of fear but not true fear itself. Dreadful thoughts often come in our minds depicting the worst case scenarios. These symptoms of anxiety are sometimes very disturbing and seem realistic resulting in anxiety attacks. This anxiety can fade away quickly if the person knows how to control the symptoms, but if a person does not know what is happening worry can build on the initial anxiety multiplyingandincapacitating the person completely.

Anxiety attack symptoms occasionally become so bad that many sufferers feel like they are going crazy. Below you will find helpful information about the symptoms of an anxiety attack and how to deal with them for good.

The affect of panic attacks varies from person to person; however, the symptoms of an anxiety attack faced by the anxiety sufferer can include: apprehensive feelings, edginess, profuse sweating, difficulty in breathing, rapid heartbeat and lack of concentration. The shortness of breath is something that makes the situation grimmer for the sufferer. Once you start having trouble in breathing, you start getting more panicky, and it makes breathing even more troubled than before.

People sometimes consider anxiety attacks as something trivial not requiring their attention. Although most people experience a certain level of anxiety at some point in their lives, a student before a difficult exam, a business man while making a crucial deal, a speaker before reaching the podium, this sort of anxiety is quick lived. However, there is a different kind of anxiety which persists for a longer period of time, and failure to eliminate it can result in tremendous disturbance, leading to illness. studies have shown that having consistent episodes of anxiety attacks can increase the risk of a heart attack.

There are a number of methods that can be used to relieve the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack. If you are having constant bouts of anxiety attacks you should consult your medical doctor as medicines can help as a short term solution. However, if you suffer with them occasionally other methods to cope with them are preferable.

Regardless of how severe they are try controlling the symptoms by breathing deep and slow. This will relieve the anxiety attack symptoms and will calm you and bring you back in control. This method has been practiced and shown effective by many anxiety attack sufferers.

Physical exercise helps eliminate symptoms of an anxiety attack. Mental therapeutic exercises as well as alternative medicine such as acupuncture, aroma therapy and yoga can help eliminate anxiety attack symptoms.

Even though symptoms of anxiety attack seem life threatening, they aren’t. Understanding and believing is the first step towards recovery. By taking special time out to sort and learn about what clicks anxiety in you, will help you overcome the anxiety disorder.

Panic attacks symptoms can be very confusing. They include weird feelings, you have no idea what’s going on, where they come from and why this is happening to you. Panic attacks can be confused with a nervous breakdown, heart attack, general anxiety and more. This guide will help you find out if you suffer from panic disorder or is it actually something else.

Hyperventilation

Do you feel that you breathe faster than you need? Short of breath? This is called hyperventilation. When this happens, the brain gets less oxygen than needed. The result: your vision blurs, you can feel dizzy, anxious, nervous and tense. You may also feel like crying and worst of all – suffocating. Than you get the need to breathe more deeply, which makes the condition worse. This causes feelings of numbness or cold feet, chest pain and trembling and tingling in your fingers and feet. It’s very frightening. Many people get so freaked out, they run to the emergency room immediately.

Dizziness

Do you feel suddenly light-headed or dizzy? Many times you may also feel unable to balance, like you’re sea sick. You may also feel like you are going to faint right now and that the world is spinning. This is usually caused by the hyperventilation but not always. When you think you will faint you get even more afraid which elevates the panic. This can continue for hours or just minutes.

Chest pain, Palpitations, Irregular Heart Beats

Chest pain is probably the most frightening one of the panic attacks symptoms. Most people that experience this are sure they are going through a heart attack. Your heart beats real fast and the chest muscles feel very tight. The added fear causes more false heart attack symptoms like sweating, numbness in the arms and palpitations. Sometimes you can feel irregular heart beats, or skipped beats. The chest pain you feel is caused by the tensed muscles in your chest and not by a heart attack.

Other Panic Attacks Symptoms Are:
· Throat thickening, choking feeling
· Blurred vision, sensitivity to light, itchy eyes
· Ringing in your ears
· Digestive system/Nausea
· Nausea and digestion problems
· Metallic taste in the mouth or ammonia taste or smell
· Sudden urge to go to the toilet, frequent urination
· Stiffness in the muscles, muscle twitching
· Shaking or trembling
· Feeling chilled, cold sweating
· Tingling in hands and feet, numbness
· Headaches
· Depersonalization, Derealization, Feeling of unreality
· Fear of losing your mind, fear you are going to die, losing control
· Chronic fatigue
· Being afraid to get out of the house, seeing people
· Dry mouth
· Mood swings
· Panic in the middle of the night, bad dreams
· Obsessive thoughts, trouble concentrating
· Sugar cravings constantly
· Weak legs
What Causes Panic Attacks Symptoms?

The reasons for panic attacks are not yet fully known. Some studies found that a combination of reasons are involved, some of them are: abnormalities in the brain (Chemical problems in some parts of the brain), family genetics (it’s known to run in families) and constant major stress or post traumatic syndrome (major life transitions, death of spouse or family member).

What Can You Do About It?

If the symptoms listed above apply to you, you may be suffering from panic attacks. There are many different ways to treat panic disorder: medication, herbal remedies, breathing techniques, counseling and supplements are some of them.

The best way to treat panic attacks symptoms is to achieve a real cure by treating the root and causes of the problem. This can be achieved by cognitive behavioral therapy.

Panic attacks can be quite scary and the panic disorder symptoms may vary from person to person but generally involved an overwhelming feeling of horror and anxiety. The severity of symptoms may also vary from one person to another with some sufferers only experiencing mild attacks, while others suffer such severe attacks that they become too afraid to leave their own home.

Panic Disorder Symptoms can include:
• Dizziness
• Racing heart
• Chest pain
• Feeling light headed
• Sweating
• Extreme fear
• Breathing difficulty
• Feeling hot or cold
• Shivering or shakiness
• Overwhelming sense of dread

Often when a person experiences a panic attack for the first time they have no idea what is happening to them and many will actually believe that they are having a heart attack. The feelings are very scary and the fear of it happening again is often enough to bring on more attacks.

This can lead to a viscious cycle of fearing another attack and that fear then brings on another attack, which then leads to more fear of attacks. This cycle can be extremely difficult to break and then leads to full panic disorder.

To be able to break free from this cycle you must be able to face that fear and control your fear of having a panic attack. Many people will relate their attack to the situation or circumstance that they were in at the time of the attack. Because they relate their attack to that situation then they become fearful of it happening again in that same situation and therefore will avoid that situation.

You can imagine if your panic attack happened while you were shopping at the supermarket, this can be a very difficult situation to avoid. To overcome this fear of the situation you need to learn to handle your fear differently and learn to face that situation without fear.

The mind is a very powerful thing and unfortunately it is very powerful in a negative way in many cases. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying ‘mind over matter’ well it is quite true and it is a matter of learning to change the way that your mind perceives fear and perceives particular situations so that you can live with them without having a panic attack.

If you have had enough of suffering from panic disorder it is time to take back control of your life. To find out more about overcoming this illness visit Panic”>http://panicattackscure.info/panic-disorder-symptoms/”>Panic Disorder Symptoms

Usually, the first person that most people would call if they were looking for a treatment plan for panic disorder would be their family doctor. I certainly did after encountering my first panic attack. However, back in the far distant days of 1986, a lot less was known about panic than is known today and there were far fewer medications available. Today, there are several for your physician to choose from and finding the right one for the individual usually comes down to a little trial and error.

An anxiety disorder is a recurring and excessive anxiety and worry about events or activities without logical reasons at all lasting for more than six moths and it is interfering with everyday activities, such as going to work, and socializing. A person experiencing anxiety condition finds it difficult to control the feelings of worry and fear. The thing about people with anxiety disorder is that they actually know that what they think of feel is not real and that they are just made-up.

Anxiety Attack Disorder is also quite often coupled with additional serious problems, such as depression, and perhaps intoxication. The disorder affects approximately three to six million US citizens, and is twice as likely to be affect women as opposed to men. For an effective treatment plan for panic disorder please click here

Social anxiety disorders arise in the childhood and early adulthood but these disorders are rare after the age of 25 years. Women are affected 2 times more than men and as we go further, we must differentiate between shyness and social anxiety disorders. Shy people do not feel as much anxiety as experienced by persons suffering from social anxiety disorders and people suffering from social anxiety disorders tend to avoid visiting public places.

Obsessive compulsive disorder therapy is sought out by millions of sufferers of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; however, they wait a while before they actually look for help. How long did you wait before you started looking online for information on it? I was the same way. Most of us at least had it for over a year before we did anything about it. You first go through the stage where you don’t know what’s going on and no one else around you knows what it is so you just think nothing of it and try to let it pass all the while perpetuating it with your actions. One thing that you should know about your brain is that you teach it in the same way that you teach a child. We all know that our children do what we do and not what we say most of the time. In the same way, our brains actually watch what we do and it will continue to do those things. You can tell yourself all day long not to do rituals but if you do them, then that is what your brain sees and that is what your brain learns. If you truly want to teach your brain a new way to do things, you actually have to do the things you want your brain to do first to train your brain to do those things.

I know that the above paragraph got a little hairy but let’s deconstruct it and break it down a bit so we all can enjoy the knowledge contained in it. Now we know that obsessive compulsive disorder therapy, at least to be effective needs to teach the individual sufferer how to teach their brain. Think about when you were in elementary school or kindergarten and the teacher would teach you the letters of the alphabet. Do you remember that special paper they used with the big lines that would show you how to write each individual letter and then you would have to write the letter over and over again? Then your teacher would put a sticker on it and you went home and gave it to your mommy and daddy to put on the fridge because you knew that is what was missing from their fridge. You see that we learned to write by repeating writing the letter over and over again. We learned to talk by trying to speak the same words over and over again until you learned them.

In the same way, effective obsessive compulsive disorder therapy will teach the person correct actions, have them repeat these actions until they are mastered. This person will then learn a new habit by showing their own brain what they want it to do under certain circumstances. Just like learning how to drive, once you learn how to drive, you don’t have to think about it anymore, it just becomes automatic! If you achieve this same effect with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, then you will become like me, OCD free. It’s not really rocket science, but it is tedious, but oh so worth it!

Obsessive compulsive disorder cure is searched by those who believe that it’s possible or are open to the possibility. This is something that you should be proud of, the fact that you searched for it tells me that you are someone that can actually receive the information that I can give you, so here it is. I want you to know that there are a lot of negative, limited minded people out there who refuse to even try to find a cure because they simply don’t believe it’s possible. I know that it’s a stretch for some people, but I can tell you from personal experience that there is a cure and that I know this because I had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and beat it. I know that you may have even heard this before but was skeptical because it goes against everything that you were taught but I can assure you it is as real as the air you breathe or the computer screen that you are looking at right now.

So if there is a obsessive compulsive disorder cure, why is it not all over the media? The same reason that the cure for most anything else is not, it’s money. You know as well as I do that if you put on the TV, you are going to spend almost as much time on commercials as you are on the program you are watching! This is no accident; it’s all about the ad revenue from these companies that suck us in with their mesmerizing ads. Have you noticed recently that some companies started playing two commercials back to back to utilize the repetition principle? What this principle is that our brains learn by repetition, we remember something more easily if it is repeated back to back! So it’s driven by money, there is simply much more money in “treatments” then there are “cures!” This makes sense to you I’m sure.

However, I am not one of those companies who could care less what happens to you so long as you give me your money, no, the obsessive compulsive disorder cure is something that you need to learn, you can’t take it in pill form, you can’t learn it in a few articles, there just isn’t enough room in an article to train you. Plus, no matter how much reading you do about OCD, it won’t help you get rid of OCD, it just doesn’t work that way. There are action steps that you must take. Who do you think is a better guitarist, someone who reads about how to play guitars all day or someone who reads about how to play guitars and then goes and practices more than he reads? I think you know the answer to this!

What is it that you can do to get the obsessive compulsive disorder cure? You can learn about OCD, but not just learn how horrible it can make you feel but rather what you can do so that you can stop it. Make sure that you don’t just ask what you can do to stop it, but what can you do to stop it for good? Enjoy the cutting edge OCD information I have for you below!

If you’ve been to the doctor lately about panic disorder medications were probably discussed. Panic disorder medications are often prescribed as an easy answer for the problem of panic attacks. While panic disorder medications to help quell some of the symptoms of anxiety… they really do nothing in actually treating the problem. Panic disorder medications should be used as a last resort not as a first line of defense.

Most doctors will fail to mention that panic disorder medications really are a last resort in curing your panic disorder. Doctors get money to prescribe these medications… so they often will recommend medications as a first line of defense against panic attacks… when they really should be the last line. Doctors like to take your money and send you on your way.

Here are three reasons you should avoid panic disorder medications:

1) Panic disorder medications don’t really fight the cause of your panic attacks. When you take these medications you are just covering your symptoms. Masking your symptoms may be great for a bit… but you eventually have to deal with your problems. The longer you let your problems worsen… the harder they are to deal with.

2) Panic disorder medications are exceedingly addictive. Do you want to suffer through a long, drawn out, and painful withdraw? If you take these panic attack medications for an extended amount of time… that’s exactly what you have to look forward too! Panic disorder medications are so addictive that you HAVE to be under a doctor’s care when you stop taking them. Your body gets so addicted that you run the risk of seizure or even death when you stop taking them.

3) You will have to keep upping your dose… that is if your panic disorder medications actually do work… and you don’t mind being addicted to them… bear in mind that you are going to have to keep increasing your dosage. Much like an alcoholic that can drink 20 beers and be sober, you also are going to build up a tolerance to your medication. You are going to have to keep increasing your dose just to feel “normal.” Eventually you will be taking tons of medication… a lot more than when you started.

Make sure you do your research before you start taking Annie panic disorder medications. There are many other viable options that can help you with panic and anxiety. Panic disorder medications may be the easy way out… but they are in no way shape or form your best option. Panic attacks are easily curable with all-natural solutions. It is by far better to look into these natural solutions as they are usually more effective and 100% safer.

Social phobia can develop for a variety of reasons. The disorder starts in childhood or young adulthood and may grow by slow degrees as time passes. While this phobia often presents itself at a young age, it can stay with a person for years or decades and can snowball into an even greater problem.

Some of the reasons that the phobia occurs include:

1. In some people, the phobia develops from a long-term history of shyness or social inhibition.

2. In other young people, it crops up after a change in situation, such as a move to a new school. For adults, this change in circumstances could be a change of jobs, a promotion, a public speaking job or even a new relationship.

3. A lot of people experience a sudden onset of social phobia following a particularly humiliating or frightening experience.

Social phobia is caused by a combination of environmental and physical factors. As with panic disorder, a person´s natural temperament may be an important factor in determining why they develop panic attacks and phobia when others do not.

If as a child, you were behaviorally inhibited, you are more likely to develop an anxiety disorder in adulthood. You can recognize behavioral inhibition by reflecting on your experiences as a child or asking people who knew you as a child.

The behaviors you are looking for include nervous moving around, crying, and general irritability, followed by withdrawing and seeking comfort from familiar people when confronted with a new person or situation.

Also stopping what you are doing when noticing a new person or situation is another indication. While these manifestations are important determinants, it is also important not to obsess over every little indication. Factors should be taken as a whole and examined in terms of frequency and severity.

The sufferers should also examine their interactions with their parents. If your parent struggled with major depression, panic attacks, or other anxiety problems, you are at an increased risk of developing social phobia. This family pattern of phobia is more likely in cases of generalized, not specific phobia.

For children of parents who struggled with depression, it is more likely that they acquired certain attitudes and behaviors from their parents that make them more susceptible to developing the phobia.

People with parents who suffered from depression often see the negative in any given situation. They overestimate the threats and dangers in life and underestimate their strength, intelligence, and other resources for coping with these situations. The social modeling they are taking from their parent´s influence how they react and interact with the world and thus, may make people with these types of parental relationships more susceptible to social phobia than those that do not.

Another reason for the development of this phobia in children and adolescents is the deterioration of the social network of family and friends that surrounds young people. We live in a culture where the nuclear family has become the norm, social gatherings limited and general interaction with the television set more common than friends.

Children are exposed to more adult situations, more aggressive behavior, more foul language and more unpleasant situations whether through real life or television than ever before. The world is rougher and people meaner and many people that may have made it in a kinder, gentler world have been overwhelmed with the requirements of modern society and have developed phobias such as social phobia to cope.

She started having panic attacks in the mourning and blackouts. She went to the Doctor and he perscribed anti-depressants for her and told her she had a chemical inbalance. The Doctor didn’t test her or anything he just asked her question for about ten minutes then perscribed anti-depressants. He later then got his license to practice medicine taken away. Her panic attacks went away but eventually she will have to go off the medication. I have been reading about panic attacks and I am psych major so I understand a little bit about the brain and disorders can anyone help shed more light on the subject of panic attacks and black outs?
