Anyone who has ever experienced panic attacks shudders at the thought of it. It is such an intense feeling that you may sometimes compound it as a heart attack. Even though medical practitioners refer to panic attacks as nothing more than sudden adrenalin rush through your body, you can only feel the symptoms that prevail like dizziness, racing heart, illusory feelings, feeling uncontainable, hyperventilation to name a few. It is very important to seek help for panic attacks at the very initial stage.

In most cases it happens that a person, who has had the first bout of panic attack, is so terrified, that the inherent fear may trigger the probabilities of subsequent panic attacks. Although it is important to evaluate the causes that led to panic attacks before dealing with panic attacks, patients sometime complain that they aren’t too sure why they felt that way. Some even make a particular place or the situation responsible for their anxiety. Seeking help for panic attacks .

Panic attack is a result of anxiety disorder or the effect of prolonged stress and worrying about a certain situation. Studies have shown that panic attack grips only when the level of stress and anxiety overflows the brim of sustenance. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to seek help for dealing with panic attacks at the very onset. While medication is possibly the most practiced way by doctors, it has its share of side-effects and preferably should be considered as the last option.

Other popular treatments followed by people for dealing with panic attacks is cognitive and behavioral therapy, exercise and various relaxation techniques like Yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, etc. However, most of these techniques offer no more than temporary relief. You should rather opt for anxiety release methods and other self help for panic attacks that can help uproot your fears and give you the right support.

One of the foremost techniques to keep panic away is to find the root cause of your anxiety that is responsible for blooming into panic attacks in later stages. Try to reason your anxiety – Is the basis behind your inherent fears and worries so huge, or is it your constant worry that is building up your fears? Finding an answer to these questions can definitely help you a lot in dealing with panic attacks.

Anxiety Release Methods for Dealing with Panic Attacks

There may be several reasons that can trigger panic attacks. Some of you may be scare of public speaking, while another may panic while driving; however, you must remember that it is not always being in the situate that leads to panic attacks. Studies have shown that most cases of panic attacks are due to secondary reasons; i.e. people suffering from anxiety disorder constantly create a world of nervousness – ‘what if I fail’, ‘what if I faint’, ‘will people laugh at me’, ‘will I be able to live up to the expectations’ etc.

However, once you learn self-help methods to keep panic away, dealing with panic attacks will be a lot easier; and you can easily divert from all the situations that may bring on panic attack. You must build the confidence within yourself that you are no longer worried or anxious about getting on to a certain situation – it might not be as easier said than done. Still self-belief and an attitude to care less for instances that build anxiety, can matter a lot while you seek help for panic attacks.

Self-help anxiety release methods help you in dealing with panic attacks not by running away from situations, but teach you to move towards your fears – break the jinx and come out a winner.

The experience of panic attack is so terrible that it jolts not only the physical existence of a person, but also proves to be destructive as it drains you psychologically. Several techniques are being used over the world as cure for panic attacks; however, studies reveal that it is very important to know and understand the reasons behind your inherent fear that triggers panic attacks.

The reasons for panic attacks may vary from person to person and so also the treatment required for panic attack cure. Some of you might be afraid of public speaking, while some might fear driving; however in almost all cases it happens that the person suffering from anxiety disorder is aloof from the idea of being struck by a bout of panic attack.

Cure for panic attacks is not an impossible proposition if you start worrying less for your inherent fears and get mentally prepared to overcome anxiety that triggers such attacks. Research have shown that anxiety explodes into full blown panic attacks when a person is constantly worrying about certain happenings in life and at the same time lives in fear of suffering another anxiety or panic attack.

Anxiety Release Methods for Panic Attack Cure

There are several proven methods to cure panic attacks; the most practiced by doctors being prescription medicines. Even though medications offer immediate relief from anxiety and panic attacks, they cannot be considered as panic attack cure taking into account possibility of side-effects on long-term treatment.

Other methods offering notable cure for panic attacks are cognitive behavioral techniques other than following strict dietary regime and exercises including yoga and aerobics as well. Apart from that there are holistic treatments like meditation and aromatherapy that can provide soothing effect and calm your senses. However, most of these forms of treatment cannot assure permanent cure for panic attacks and can only be effective as temporary and short term relief.

Self-help techniques is possibly the most realistic cure for panic attacks, with several proven anxiety release methods paving the way for an anxiety free and stress free life. The basic concept of these self-help methods is to drive panic away by preparing your body and mind to get over these anxiety and fears. It is very important for you to make yourself believe that the situations or the conditions that scare you are momentous and should not overpower you on any counts.

Simple Effective Techniques and Cure for Panic Attacks

Most people after each passing panic attack feels as if they have survived a heart attack. The feeling is so intense that it mostly develops into a phobia leading to fear psychosis for forthcoming panic attacks. One of the foremost things you need to realize is ‘what triggered panic attacks’. Once that is known, you have to uproot your fears about the condition and make yourself understand that what you have been experiencing during panic attacks is just a condition which will eventually pass and you are not going to die. This is one of the primary stages you need to follow for possible panic attack cure.

Studies have shown that many people, who suffer from social anxiety or frequent panic attacks, retract into self-imposed solitary confinement fearing public humiliation. However, that cannot be the solution or will not lead to cure for panic attacks. It is very important to distract yourself from the anxiety situation or even move away from it, until the attack disperses.

Panic attacks are a result of consistent stress and anxiety. Therefore self-help anxiety release methods like controlled breathing exercises, meditation and even music can play an important role in panic attack cure.

Social anxiety is hard to overcome and most of the suggestions you get just does not function. But you’ll be able to eliminate social anxiety completely and it is not tough to do. You just need to know the trigger and then alter it.

If you’re searching for information about anxiety disorders symptoms, you will find the below related article extremely helpful. It offers a refreshing perspective that is very related to anxiety disorders symptoms and in some manner related to anxiety disorders symptoms, anxieties, anxieties or extreme anxiety disorder. It isn’t the same old kind of information which you will find elsewhere online relating to anxiety disorders symptoms.

Talking to someone is one of the best approaches to overcome your anxiety. Getting together with your family and pals, even your fellow patrons at Starbucks, and talking about what you might be feeling can be helpful. Should you can’t talk to an individual, attempt writing a letter or visiting an proper Web chat room.

I’ve just read your 9 suggestions about dealing with anxiety. I’ve found since I’ve been going by means of early menopause that I get very anxious and have had a few panic attacks when my heart has been pounding, I’ve been sweating and believed that some thing awful was going to happen. I get very anxious of folks. I was abused as a child by someone who ought to have been setting me an example and because of that, I begin feeling anxious when I’m in a crowd. Trust is something alien and I’m cautious of everyone.

BREATHER — As you pause on reading this write-up I hope it has so far provided you with insightful information related to anxiety disorders symptoms. Even if it hasn’t so far, the remainder will, whether your interest is anxiety disorders symptoms directly or other related angle like anxiety disorders symptoms, anxieties, anxieties or extreme anxiety disorder.

Along those exact same lines, many individuals battling depression or anxiety have the added complication of stomach or intestinal problems as a result of the anxiety. Our brains and gastrointestinal tracts are connected far beyond what a lot of people would imagine and one profoundly effects the other (which is why the GAPS Diet is so successful in battling emotional difficulties!) Be additional kind to your digestive system and consider adding probiotics (especially if you have frequent diarrhea) or digestive enzymes. Food preparation can make a large difference too. I wish I knew at the time how soothing bone broths could be to your stomach and how simply the nutrients from it are absorbed.

You need to have a safe place to go whenever you have to if your Anxiety is severe, particularly for those who have Panic Disorder and Social Phobia. If your host understands, your safe location may be a bedroom or home office. Failing that, you may retreat to a bathroom or even your car. Do not be embarrassed to obtain away from the party to pull oneself together! Realizing that you simply have a secure place might mean that you simply never need to use it.

It was intriguing to find that lots of people, oblivious of their background, found this write-up regarding anxiety disorders symptoms and other anxiety disorders symptoms, anxieties, anxieties, and even extreme anxiety disorder helpful.

However, when we pay an excessive amount of attention to our tension, we compound our be concerned and misery and this causes us to attempt harder to avoid stress. This, in turn, brings with it much more secondary anxiety. As this takes place, we are developing a panic attack. The bottom line is, a panic attack will by no means get off the ground with out secondary anxiety and whether or not or not secondary anxiety occurs is up to us.

Article by Tony Trussol

There are very few things in life that are worse than seeing a loved one suffer and live in pain. Even though most people would be desperate to help their friend, family member or lover to get better, it can be a very difficult process. There are so many issues and incidents that can impact on a person’s life and it is true to say that instances of post-traumatic stress disorder are on the increase. More and more people are suffering stress from something which has happened in their life but it is important that the people around give them as much support and assistance as they possibly can. This is not always easy but it is a very important to do as much as possible to support the sufferer.

One of the most important things when looking to help a sufferer of post-traumatic stress is to be patient and understanding. It can be very difficult to provide the support to someone who is shutting themselves away from the world or lashing out at people around them but this is often the time they need support the most. Anyone who has suffered from post-traumatic stress will understand the difficulties in communicating with the people around them which is why patience is an extremely important asset for friends and family members to have.

When trying to give support to someone suffering from post-traumatic stress, it can be helpful to understand and then possibly anticipate the triggers that cause the disorder to kick in. Some people may experience the stress at certain points of the year, if they have to go to certain locations or when incidents occur. It may be that news stories will act as triggers so being extra supportive when these stories are aired can be a good way to provide a high level of assistance for a friend that is suffering from this form of condition. It can be difficult to anticipate the triggers for people but over time, most people can develop a feeling or intuition for the things that set their friend or loved one off.

It is also important that those around the person suffering from post-traumatic stress don’t take the behaviour personally. It can be easy to feel hurt and let down by a person who has lashed out at you when you are trying to support them, but victims of post-traumatic stress often have little control over their actions when they are pressurised or stressed.

Article by Alan Wortman

A sense of lowered self-esteem affects many people in our society. One school of psychology that has been found to help people with this problem is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of therapy which focuses on and has the goal of helping people overcome emotional problems.

What characterizes CBT as a therapeutic approach? “Cognitive” applies to our mental processes such as memory, perception, and motivation. Behavior of course refers to our actions and conduct. Therapy has been described as a thorough and systematic way of approaching a life problem, usually in the area of emotions. One main strength of CBT is that it is based upon scientific studies. Not only have scientists been able to test and develop practical approaches to life problems, patients in this form of therapy frequently develop a somewhat scientific attitude toward themselves. As scientists will test a theory, individuals may test a perception or memory of a person or event in their life. They may ask, “is this reality or am I distorting my memories or perceptions”?

In CBT, the answer to this question is of great importance. If someone experiences negative emotions toward another, frequently that person is taught to ask themselves “what evidence do I have that this other person is trying to make me angry”? And further, “is it possible that I might be reading into the situation and attributing thoughts and motives to others when in fact these beliefs may more reflect my own concerns”?

CBT also recognizes a certain philosophical approach to life. CPT addresses beliefs that people hold about themselves and others. An important part of this therapy is to examine the reality of these beliefs. CBT is directed toward helping people be flexible and self-helping rather then self-defeating. This form of therapy also ultimately involves behavior. The theoretical underpinning is that thinking leads to feelings which then lead to behavior. If someone’s thought patterns can be changed, it follows then that their feelings and behavior can be changed also. The goal of the therapy is to bring about changes in thought patterns in such a way that feelings become more positive, and behavior becomes beneficial toward oneself rather than harmful as when negative feelings are acted upon.

CBT emphasizes a focused approach. A person utilizing CBT therapy is encouraged to move from self-defeating emotional and behavioral problems toward the direction of setting goals involving more satisfying feelings and behavior. Thus CBT is a systematic, problem-solving approach to the emotional problems that accompany life for all of us.

Many people believe that they feel a certain way, for example, angry, because of something that someone else has done to them. After some exploration they can see that they have attributed meaning to what the other person has done, and they have allowed themselves to become angry in reaction to the other person. They could have also chosen some other way to react. An alternative reaction may be healthier and involve thinking that produces feelings and behavior that are much more satisfying than prior self-defeating behaviors.

In fact, self-defeating behavior has frequently been the basis for the initiation of CBT. CBT has been shown to produce quite good results with removing self-defeating behaviors and is therefore undergoing increasing acceptance in the psychological community.

www.GuideForDummy.com — Self Help for Panic Attacks When you have a sudden feeling of fear or terror, you most likely will have a panic attack that occurs suddenly without warning. Coping with panic attacks can be very difficult. But you will be able to control the attacks by recognizing the symptoms and learning how to control them. Profuse sweating, difficulty breathing, dizziness, nausea, a choking sensation, heart palpitation and trembling are some of the symptoms from panic attacks. Controlled breathing is one of the most effective methods that can be used during a panic attack. Slowly take a deep breath, hold your breath for at least 5 seconds, exhale slowly through your mouth. You have to stay calm when you feel like going to have a panic attack or you even can calm yourself by telling yourself that everything is going to be alright. By facing your fears, you can help to control your panic attack like when you are afraid of elevators. Another effective method is muscle relaxation. Find a quiet place to exercise this, tighten the muscles in your forehead and hold it for 4-5 seconds and slowly relax the muscles when you done you also can try your other muscle too. If these techniques are not working for you, you have to consult your physician for treatment. To learn more about Self Help for Panic Attacks, please visit: www.GuideForDummy.com

Tired of hiding from people? Sick of becoming home bound? annoyed by your uncontrolled fear? No need to be in such misery, get agoraphobia help and end agoraphobia now!

For those of you who are already suffering from agoraphobia, do not just tolerate this condition. You may think it’s nothing serious but the truth is, it’s slowly killing you inside. True that agoraphobia is not a chronic disorder, but for someone who lives in fear, that’s more than killing yourself already. And literally speaking, some severe cases of agoraphobia lead to suicide. Of course you don’t want things to reach this far. But that’s a reality. As time goes by, an untreated agoraphobia condition can develop into something more serious such as insanity and suicide.

Of course you don’t want to live in fear, so why neglect what you are going through? Despite the alarming continuous increase in number of agoraphobia case, it should be made clear that Psychologists and experts are doing continuous research and studies to come up with the best agoraphobia help they can provide to agoraphobia patients. Not only that, they have already extended their services online.

One great advantage of online agoraphobia help is it’s flexibility. Some agoraphobia cases are associated to social anxiety disorder or the condition characterized by the fear of being in a crowd, talking in front of somebody, doing anything in front of another person, or even using the public toilet. So these type of patients fear of facing anybody so a one on one session with a Psychologist may not apply to them. But if the program is online, these type of patients can still take advantage of what’s in the program without having to fear of facing other people.

Whether it’s available offline or online, having agoraphobia help is necessary for someone who goes through the suffering of this condition. And the best time to get agoraphobia help is right by the time you experience any symptoms of it. So while it’s early, act now, get agoraphobia help, and free yourself from fear.

Looking for the best agoraphobia help online?

        <!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>
Introduction

In this article you will learn how to help a friend or loved one cope and recover from panic attacks, by using a method called self exposure. A way for them to slowly become accustomed to the things and situations that make them uncomfortable. You will also learn how to avoid mistakes that would do more harm than good. Mistakes family and friends make with good intentions, but may only serve to have them avoid the things and situations that cause them anxiety

Learning the techniques of Exposure Therapy

You will need to learn about anxiety disorders and exposure treatment. If your friend or loved one has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, focus on that particular disorder. There are many good online works on exposure therapy you can read to prepare yourself to help them. I have included a brief description of Four different anxiety disorders.

Don’t feel that you can’t possibly help without being a qualified behavioral therapist. The main influences in our lives are the people around us, not the experts or professionally trained.

Is the person you want to help ready?

After learning the techniques of exposure therapy, discussing them with the person you wish to help may get them to give the techniques a try. Help cannot be forced on anybody. They must make a conscious decision of their own to accept your help and work at confronting their fears. He or she may not know the rewards of trying hard and might, consciously or unconsciously, believe that the techniques won’t work and would not be worth the effort.

The importance of trust

People don’t accept help from someone they can’t trust. If you’ve promised to help, stick to your word and take it seriously. You must prove to them that you can be trusted and relied on. Your actions are more important than what you say. If you don’t do the things you said you would, they will lose their trust in you. The person you want to help should not have to feel grateful that you actually kept your promise(this time). They may get discouraged and loose interest in trying to confront their fears.

You will need to be unobtrusive, fully attentive and supportive. Always be exactly where they need you to be. You should never act board or complain. Remember that you’re there to help them overcome something that makes them very uncomfortable. Pushing them to hard, nagging or threatening, will more likely discourage them than increase their efforts.

Brief descriptions of some Anxiety Disorders

Social Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia. A person with social phobia may feel moderate to extreme anxiety in certain situations. They may be self-conscious at social events. Some of the physical symptoms of social anxiety disorder are difficulties talking, blushing, sweating, and nausea. They often feel they are being watched and judged. Somebody with social phobia may also fear embarrassing themselves in front of others. For more information on social anxiety disorder, symptoms and treatments.

Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Anxiety disorder is sometimes called panic disorder. Someone with anxiety disorder may have moderate to severe panic attacks. They may or may not know what triggers their fears. Some of the physical symptoms of panic disorder are heart palpitations, chest pains, dizziness, shortness of breath and stomach pains. These symptoms can be severe enough to make them think they are having a heart attack or may die.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and its symptoms

Obsessive compulsive disorder is another form of anxiety disorder. A person with OCD has re-occurring unwanted thoughts that caused them to feel anxious. They perform rituals in an attempt to distract themselves from their obsessive thoughts and relief the anxiety they feel. The physical symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder are similar to other anxiety disorders. Some of the rituals they may perform are listed below.

checking repeatedly if the doors locked
rearranging things after somebody has disturbed them
repeatedly combing their hair or checking their make up
cleaning something multiple times
counting
repeatedly washing hands

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and its symptoms

Somebody with generalized anxiety disorder spends most or all of their time worrying excessively. People with GAD are extremely concerned about things some people would feel are trivial or of little consequence. Unlike with some other anxiety disorders, a person with generalized anxiety disorder don’t usually avoid situations that cause them anxiety. Some of the concerns they may have are health conditions, difficulties at work or money. The physical symptoms of GAD are similar to other anxiety disorders.

For more information on generalized anxiety disorder, symptoms and treatments.

Some of them professionally diagnosed with mental disorders including, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

In considering self help treatment for anxiety attacks, the first thing you need to do is get a proper diagnosis from a healthcare professional. Once diagnosed, you can then decide on your treatment. And more and more people are turning to self help treatment for anxiety attacks, rather than using mind-numbing drugs. Here are 5 things to help you treat your condition without drugs.

1 – Understand What Causes Anxiety Attacks

Anxiety attacks are triggered when someone with already higher-than-normal levels of anxiety suffers a peak of additional stress. This can be something as simple as driving in heavy traffic, shopping in a crowded environment, being in a crowded lift, preparing for an exam, etc. What happens is that this additional ‘spike’ of stress adds to your overall anxiety levels and pushes you ‘over the top’.

Your unconscious mind wrongly perceives this as a life threatening situation and, as it is primed to do, sets in motion a serious of chemical and other physical changes to your mind and body to help you either fight the ‘danger’ or run away to safety. This is called your body’s ‘fight or flight’ response and has been with us since primeval times.

But of course there is no external threat, all you’ve had is a rise in anxiety. But your unconscious mind doesn’t have time to check out the reality, it just assumes the worse case scenario (which it’s programmed to do) and triggers it’s fight or flight response. The chemical and physical changes result in the symptoms you experience during an anxiety (panic) attack.

2 – Get To Know the Symptoms Of An Anxiety Attack

The following are typical symptoms to be aware of:- tight chest / throat, dizziness, nausea, hyperventilation, rapid heart beat, difficulty breathing, tingling fingers, sweating, trembling, feeling of being detached from surroundings, feeling of impending doom.

It is important to remember that these are just the symptoms associated with your body’s flight or fight response to a ‘percieved’ dangerous situation that doesn’t in fact exist. So you aren’t having a heart attack or about to die. Try to remember this if you begin to feel the onset of symptoms. Even repeat it to yourself. It will help to reduce the intensity and length of the symptoms.

3 – Always Avoid Stress Where Possible

There are certain things in life which you can’t avoid, but you must avoid unnecessary stress. Stress occurs through people, relationships, situations, etc. There are some you can’t control, so don’t try. But there others you can control and so you need to get rid of these stressful situations.

For example, if certain people not important to you are stressing you out, stay right away from them. If there is a relationship that causes you anxiety and stress almost daily then you need to seriously consider if it’s worth continuing. If there are situations like driving to work that constantly stress you out, can you use public transport? can someone drive you? etc.

The workplace is a great source of stress. Are you working hard rather than working smart? Do you continually take on more than you can reasonably handle? Do you work voluntary overtime in order to pay for things that really aren’t that important in the scheme of things? Try to reduce you hours and don’t take on more work than you can handle.

4 – Be Positive During An Anxiety Attack

A positive attitude is just so important when you have anxiety and suffer anxiety attacks. Especially during an attack, a positive reaction to the onset of an attack can seriously limit its length and intensity. Anybody who has suffered an attack knows that it isn’t easy to do this, but those that have managed know that it is true.

You now know that an anxiety attack cannot harm you. You now know what the symptoms are and what causes them. In other words you have all the information you need to meet your next attack head-on with a positive attitude.

5 – Eliminate Your Fear Of Another Anxiety Attack

This is the most important thing you’ll learn in coping with anxiety attacks. Remember above you learned how a rise in stress on top of your already high anxiety can trigger a ‘fight or flight’ response which causes you to experience the symptoms as an anxiety attack? Well your ‘fear’ of having another attack acts in the same way…

Everyone who has suffered an anxiety attack has a conscious or subconscious fear of another. And no wonder the symptoms are terrifying! But this fear builds on your already higher-than-normal anxiety levels, so raising your overall anxiety even higher. By itself, or in conjunction with an everyday stressful event, this fear can trigger your body’s fight or flight response, so producing an anxiety attack.

This vicious cycle of; anxiety > anxiety attack > fear > more anxiety > anxiety attack > more fear > even more anxiety > anxiety attack > and so on, must be broken to prevent further anxiety attacks and cure your general anxiety.

To discover the simple ‘ONE MOVE’ technique that will eliminate your fear factor and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety, go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and prepare to get your old self back again.

Article that discusses what causes panic attacks and the potential underlying reasons for panic attacks

Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks and are looking for a natural cure?

Click here now to see what worked for me >> Natural cure for panic attacks >>

The great debate is over should panic attack sufferers take medication or a natural cure for panic attacks. Here my reasons about why I personally believe that it is more effective to go with a natural holistic approach instead of taking medication for anxiety panic attack symptoms and the reasons why it is better for anxiety attack panic treatment

Every person at one point in his life can have panic attacks for different reasons. You felt this when you were called by your teacher in lower grade to recite a poem which you failed to memorize a week before. You had a panic attack when you noticed the girl you admired coming your way. There are different panic attacks causes and most of them can be very simple and fleeting

It can range from shortness of breath to sweating and nausea. The whole world becomes detached. Have you experienced any of these anxiety panic attack symptoms before? Learn how to recognize anxiety panic attack symptoms and tips for what to do when panic attacks

Panic attacks are sudden feelings of terror that strike without warning. These episodes can occur at any time even during sleep. A person experiencing a panic attack may believe that he or she is having a heart attack or that death is imminent

If you have been familiar with the difficulties related with panic attacks you might be interested in knowing how to stop panic attacks. Most of the therapies that we know related with stopping panic attacks most likely look into the main causes of panic attacks. This is important since it will lead a way in further understanding when and how panic attacks happen and to avoid those situations that can trigger it

Panic attacks are experienced by millions of Americans each year and that number is growing. Here are some of the things you can do to cure your panic attacks

Panic attacks are the initial steps leading up to panic disorder and a good number of people are affected by this problem. It is estimated that 2% of all American adults will experience at least one panic attack.

Panic attacks are extremely disruptive and painful. Repeated attacks of panic can lead to aggravation of anxiety disorders, which would then require long-term medication and therapy. You need to beat it before it snowballs into a bigger problem. Here are a few steps that would help you do so:

1. Recognize it coming – When it comes to panic disorder, the most important aspect in the plan for defense against it is recognizing that it is coming, or rather anticipating its onset. Here are a few signs that should warn you about an imminent panic attack:

a. Tingling sensation – there is that funny feeling that your whole body is tingling; this is not a pleasant feeling; rather it is something that fills you with dread and apprehension.

b. Shortness of breath – you will experience a feeling of suffocation whereby you start breathing fast as if to get in as much oxygen as you could because you cannot seem to get enough. You would feel as if your lungs are unable to fill with the much craved-for air, and you are dying for the want of oxygen.

c. Disconnection from realty – gradually you will find that you are unable to grasp what is going on around you. Everything would look so detached from you, so remote. Often you would be tempted to reach out and touch an object in front of you, just to check whether it is real or you are imagining it. This is a feeling that many compare with a drug scene gone wrong; you are there and at the same time you are not – this is a terribly uncomfortable feeling.

2. Focus on the present – most panic attacks are caused by a fixation on the past or future. Either you are thinking of some horribly upsetting things from your past, or you are assuming that something horrible is going to happen in the future. Internalize that you cannot influence either. You cannot change what transpired in the past nor can you ensure that the future would take the path you prefer. So, why should you burn your heart for things that cannot be helped? Focus on the present. What are you doing now? What do you smell? What do you hear? What do you see? What do you want to do – NOW? When you look at the present and concentrate on it, the anxiety that would have lead to the panic attack would automatically decrease and disappear.

3. Use the ‘five-sense’ approach – this technique is applicable for all the anxiety problems not only panic disorder. Involve all your five senses to become calm and relaxed. See something beautiful that touches your heart (for the better), hear something soothing, smell something you like best, touch something soft and pleasant, and taste something that overwhelms you with pleasure. Do not worry if you cannot involve all the senses; just try to use as many as you can.

4. Get ready to fight with yourself – panic attacks are the direct results of over-inflated worries. Learn to be your most powerful critic. Make a list of all the fears that plague you and punch holes into each one of them, citing at least three reasons why such a fear would never be realized. Make a habit of this and after a while, you will find that you have conquered a good majority of these fears.

5. Reach out – panic builds up like the steam in a pressure cooker. As long as the lid is firmly in place, the steam would increase until the point where it explodes; if the lid is removed before, and cooker is left open, the steam would loose its strength. In the same way, the moment you reach out and share your feelings with someone, your mind would start relaxing; it would also start analyzing whether what you feel is really warranted or not and the intensity of the anxiety would decrease considerably.

The above techniques are extremely effective for controlling and reversing panic attacks. However, in case you still find yourself in the midst of anxiety attacks, seek medical help. The SOS measures are meant to keep you forewarned and forearmed against a very painful affliction.

Panic disorder support can be extremely helpful to those of us that deals with panic attacks on a regular basis. It should be noted that it goes both ways. Providing support to those that experience it as well can help quite a bit. Let us discuss support and how this can help both us and others.

When battling against panic disorder, it can be a lonely road. Most of us will tend to remain silent about the issues that plague us, whether or not the people around and close to us already know. Having a helping hand or someone we can rely on at times of need can help out considerably. Banishing the feeling of isolation can go a long way towards a happier lifestyle.

Isolation and loneliness can lead to depression, which in turn will produce more daily anxiety. This then leads back to worsening the panic disorder and possibly increasing the frequency of the attacks. With those near you that you trust and feel comfortable talking to, really do consider to open up and talk about the issues.

If it is another person that suffers from panic disorder, support offered in this form and encouraging them to openly talk about it can help them more than we might think. As mentioned, it goes both ways and providing this support to another person can do the same.

Knowing how to deal with panic attacks can be helpful for providing support to others as well. Remind them to control the breathing and take deep breaths. Tell them to focus their attention on relaxing every fiber in their body as much as possible. During an attack, we may not have the luxury of remembering to focus on calming down and preventing it from being a full blown attack.

You are in a crowded store with a basket full of shopping. Suddenly you become aware of a slight dizzy feeling and your heart starts beating a bit harder and faster. You realise you are sweating slightly and your breathing has become a bit faster. There is a knot in your stomach and a strong feeling that lots of other shoppers are looking at you. Your heart gets even faster and the breathing does too until you feel lightheaded. It feels like the walls are closing in and you really have to get out of there fast. Sound familiar? If so it may be that you have had panic attacks. When panic attacks become frequent and the worry or anxiety of about having them starts to interfere with normal life, then you may have panic disorder. Here are three trusted methods of self help for panic disorder.

*Avoid caffeine and smoking

Caffeine, which is found in coffee, tea, cola drinks and dark chocolate, among other things, is a stimulant, as is nicotine. They can interfere with the brain’s natural tranquilizers and cause insomnia, and can also makes the heart beat faster. As increased heart rate and palpitations are symptoms of a panic attack, it is easy to see that avoidance of these products could be a very simple but effective form of self help for panic disorders.

*Breathing exercises

During a panic attack the breathing becomes fast and shallow, and this is called hyperventilation. This leads to some of the other symptoms that are experienced such as tingling and lightheadedness. If you can teach yourself deep breathing and try to force yourself to do it during an attack, it will reduce the severity of the panic attack. Breathing into a paper bag can help too (yes, really!)

*Relaxation techniques

Meditation and yoga help the sufferer to envisage stressful situations in the mind’s eye under controlled conditions and imagine a relaxed and happy outcome. This sort of technique can improve self-awareness and self-confidence.

We all come face to face with situations in life that are scary and may cause us to panic. This is a perfectly normal response and the difference between this normality and a panic disorder is that those who have a disorder panic at times when it really isn’t called for and this is when [...]

We all come face to face with situations in life that are scary and may cause us to panic. This is a perfectly normal response and the difference between this normality and a panic disorder is that those who have a disorder panic at times when it really isn’t called for and this is when you need to start searching for a panic attacks cure.

Some people may just be casually driving along in their car and then suffer an attack, some may be doing the grocery shopping and have an attack in the middle of the supermarket, there are many situations and their panic is not rational.

If you suffer from irrational panic then you might want to sit down and analyse your situation. Where were you and what were you doing when you had your first attack? If you can find the cause or situation then you are taking the first step to recovery.

If you can find a situation that causes you anxiety and fear is it possible to avoid that situation? If it isn’t, then you will need to practise some techniques to help you deal with that situation. If you are panicky at different times and can’t pinpoint just one trigger, then you have a bigger job of recovery but it is still possible. You will need to learn some techniques so you can change the way your body and mind behaves in situations.

To cure your panic attacks you first need to believe in yourself, believe that you can do it and be determined to do it. Often just the fear of having another attack is enough to bring one on, so once you have one, you begin to fear them, increasing the number and severity of attacks you have.

You need to learn to control this fear and you need to know that the fear is irrational and that it can be beaten. Facing those fears head on is one technique that many people use to overcome the fear as once you face it head on you will begin to realise that the problem isn’t as bad as you thought.

If you suffer from panic disorder it can take over your life and many sufferers are too scared to even leave their homes. You need to take control of your life and find the panic attacks cure that works best for you.

Okay, for the past 2 years now, I have suffered from OCD, Anxiety, Panic disorder…Yeah, I lot of things a 21 year shouldn’t have to deal with..well, actually nobody should!
Anyways, I have the classic symptoms:
-Trouble breathing
-Chest pains
-Numbness
-Fast heartbeat
-Nauseous
-Tingling feeling all over body
-dizzy
-tired
Yeah, I don’t know..ALL of the symptoms. So, I’m still confused about the way I feel a lot. I get such weird feelings, Like sooo weird..that I’m not even real..and it’s such an eery feeling, I hate it. I’m always sick. I get colds all the time. Like, right now..I have a chest infection…and I’m taking anti-biotics for it. Yesturday, I felt just fine..and then I woke up this morning feeling ill, AGAIN. I totally thought I was better. I didn’t even have a panic attack yesturday. Anyways, I also woke up this morning with a soar throat, not like in my throat..like outside, it feels like a muscles pain in my neck, or like when you have swollen glands. I don’t get it…one day I feel fine, the next I feel sick ALL over again. I’m really frusterated. I know all about meds…and I know all about breathing excerises. I’ve done them all, and i’ve actually gotten rid of my anxiety for quite awhile. (Without meds, or anything)
I’m really worried about myself..I feel really weird a lot. I’m always searching for something cause I have a bad feeling it may be something else. So I keep going to the doctors, and most of the time when I see a new doctor I dont tell them about my anxiety, cause I want them to figure it out themselves..that I have it. They dont usually say I have panic disorder..they say I have other issues..like gastric inflammation, ulcers, Ive been told I have asthma..and it turned out I didnt. I’m really confused. Is it really this normal to feel this sick all the time with anxiety? I feel so stressed. Can someone with expirence tell me what they went through, or what the know please. I need some advice.
Thank You
