Many people who get panic attacks feel like their life is basically over. They feel out of control and possibly even like they are dying. If that is how you feel, you might seriously doubt there is any way you can end these panic attacks. Fortunately, if you have the right methods, you CAN eliminate the panic and live your life again. Put your doubt aside right now, and grasp onto this hope

The first thing you need to do is take stock of your symptoms. People suffer from different symptoms, and your treatment plan might differ depending on the ones who you are dealing with. If you are seeking the advice of a doctor, you should tell your doctor what symptoms you are experiencing so they can help you end your panic attacks.

After you have evaluated your symptoms, you need to do some research. Research what works for other people by joining forums that discuss panic attacks. You definitely don’t want to focus on negative threads — focus on positive threads where people have found their answer. There are tons of people who have successfully banished their panic for good and it can be motivating for you to read their stories.

It’s also a good idea to read books and e-books written by people who have been in your situation. There are many great techniques out there that have worked for thousands of people. By reading about these methods, you can further perfect your own personalized plan to end your panic attacks. Some of these techniques are even downloadable, which is important when you need this information as soon as possible.

Another thing you might want to do is join a support group. Knowing that there are other people going through the same thing can actually help you get through it all. You feel like you’re not alone and that you’re not going crazy — this is a true disorder that you can end with some effort.

At this point, you probably have a good grasp on what your symptoms are as well as different methods you can try to eliminate your panic attacks. Not all the methods will work for you, so you need to read through them and find the ones that will! After you’ve done that, it’s time to create a plan for getting rid of your panic attacks. Take note of what you can do in the short term as well as the long-term so you can start to feel better.

Are you suffering from social anxiety disorder and want to get rid of social phobia? Are these circumstances familiar to you?

You worry for days or weeks before an event that involves socializing with people.
You are very conscious in front of other people and always worried that you might do something embarrassing.
You find it hard to mingle with other people and make new friends.
You are extremely afraid that other people will judge you and usually stay away from places where there are other people.
You have physical symptoms like blushing, sweating, trembling, nausea, pounding heartbeat and difficulty talking.

Having the above mentioned symptoms of social phobia, a type of anxiety disorder can be very devastating. These symptoms can keep you from functioning normally on your everyday life and to make your life more normal you have to find the best ways to get rid of social phobia. Anxiety disorder is the most treatable mental condition and there is help available for you. Of course the first step in getting help is to consult your doctor or a mental health specialist and talk about your symptoms.

Your doctor may recommend medications, psychotherapy or the combination of both to get rid of social phobia. Medication is helpful to keep your symptoms under control. Antidepressants although created to treat depression are being used to treat anxiety disorder and can be very helpful to change the brain chemistry to make you calmer. It may take weeks before the drugs take effect and you maybe advised to take the drug continuously to make them work. You may also encounter side effects and it is important to talk about it to your doctor.

Aside from medication, psychotherapy can be very beneficial for people suffering from social anxiety disorder. It is important to talk to a certified psychiatrist if you want to get rid of social phobia. Your doctor can teach you the techniques on managing your social anxiety disorder. For instance, your therapist may use the exposure-based behavioral therapy where people with social phobia are exposed to feared situations without the urge to escape the given situation. CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy is another psychotherapy that helps patients to change the way they think and react to feared situations.

Aside from medical treatments, natural remedies are also getting popular. If you are still suffering from social phobia despite of all the treatments you went through, do not lose hope because there are natural remedies to get rid of social phobia.

So, out of “thin air” I got a panic disorder 2,5years ago.
There was a lot of shit leading up to this sudden break down.

I dropped out of school, because I hated the school and was always in trouble with teachers, I smoked pot 24/7 for 2years straight, the cops were on my ass, my dad was a junkie, never around always in jail…
Suddenly my dad dies out of nowhere infront of me, I keep going for a few months… “I’m invincible attitude”

Then one day, smoking some weed, I suddenly out of nowhere get my first panic attack in my life ever, this was the first one out of 60 I had the next 40 hours.
Every 30 minutes a new one was triggered, I went to the hospital and they said they’d had never seen so many panic attacks in that amount of time.
I couldn’t sleep and almost became delusional for a few minutes.
I snapped out of it, but was left derealized and depersonalized (no emotions no sense of reality no nothing), kept having 25 panic attacks a day.
This went on for months, I was deadset on not becoming addicted to any benzo’s.
Went to psychiatric, which was worse than Freud on cocaine, so I gave that up and decided to cure myself.
Eventually I completely broke down, and had to go on diazepam(valiums), 20mg a day, 4 pills to just breathe.
Ofcourse on top of this I got Pure O(mental OCD) and all I ever think of is suicide.

It’s been 2,5years living as a hostage in my own home by inviscble mental and emotional distress.

IS there hope?

don’t tell me “go see a shrink”, been there done that so many times.
don’t say “don’t do drugs” haven’t since that day…

Honestly is this a disorder that can be CURED, not treated, but C U R E D?
Should probably add that my rest pulse is 220, 24/7, the doctors don’t know what’s causing it other than “stress and anxiety related”.
I don’t even notice, cuz I pop more pills than I can count anymore just to keep myself from drowning in my own blood.

Otherwise, bodywise, I’m healthy
While I’m grateful for your response:
I did not suffer any “delusions” prior to the panic attack, hence the “out of thin air”.
Neither was I paranoid, when I say the cops was on my back I mean physically in real life, I got a criminal record to support it =P
I was not paranoid at all.

stressed, yes.
depressed, yes.
obsessive thoughts, some not many before panic disorder.

delusional, no.
paranoid, no.

She went to the Doctor and he perscribed anti-depressants for her and told her she had a chemical inbalance. The Doctor didn’t test her or anything he just asked her question for about ten minutes then perscribed anti-depressants. He later then got his license to practice medicine taken away. Her panic attacks went away but eventually she will have to go off the medication. I have been reading about panic attacks and I am psych major so I understand a little bit about the brain and disorders can anyone help shed more light on the subject of panic attacks and black outs?

I took Paxil for 9 years (40 mg) for Panic Disorder and am almost completely off of it and onto Lexapro (10mg). The reason for the change was several factors: weight gain (when I NEVER gained weight no matter how hard I tried), no sex drive on Paxil. Now that I’m almost off of Paxil and onto Lex, i’m worried about the continuing issue with my weight. Paxil was FABULOUS for my anxiety and Lex has been fine so far too (except for diarrhea), but would Wellbutrin XL be better to take b/c it doesn’t report as much weight gain? I tried it once before (taking it with Paxil to help increase sex drive…it didn’t do anything) but am unsure if it’s good for panic since i’ve really only heard of it being used for depression. Any experience with this?????
I will be discussing this with my doc this week, but wanted to hear from personal experience with those who have used Wellbutrin for panic and how it affected weight/anxiety symptoms.
I’ve had anywhere from minor to major diarrhea the entire time on Lexapro.
