Though all of us feels a specific amount of anxiety and strain through their lifetime, in some men and women anxiety can become a chronic situation which can be extremely disheartening and disruptive to their daily life. This situation is referred to as an anxiety disorder during which you will find numerous unique types that contain panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, normal anxiety disorders, and put up traumatic anxiety disorders.

When it comes to doing a diagnosis of an anxiety disorder, you will find no laboratory tests that may definitively establish no matter if or not a person has this disorder, on the other hand, a appropriate diagnosis could be built by means of a expert healthcare evaluation.

Healthcare Evaluation for an Anxiety Disorder

When a physician suspects that a patient can have an anxiety disorder, they may first begin an evaluation by reviewing their medical historical past and executing a actual physical exam. The individual’s important symptoms will be taken with exclusive consideration staying compensated on the blood stress, pulse, and rate of respiration.

The physician will then ordinarily question a series of queries linked to your signs of anxiety for example how the individual is affected mentally at the same time as physically and what circumstances or conditions they assume could be producing them. The patient will even be asked about other medications they are getting as sometimes particular medicines may cause signs and symptoms of anxiety.

The physician may even want to rule out any underlying causes which include medication or other health-related circumstances which could even be leading to the signs and symptoms of an anxiety disorder. Laboratory testing can be carried out which contains a “CBC” or “comprehensive blood depend”, “ECG” or “electrocardiogram”, thyroid test, adrenal stages, and also other specialized tests the physician feels are needed. If all other medical circumstances are ruled out then the physician may make a referral with a mental well-being expert.

Specialized Blood Testing might quickly be Available for Detecting an Anxiety Disorder

Investigation which has been carried out not long ago showed a promising breakthrough in acquiring a distinct diagnostic test for anxiety disorders. A Study workforce observed that when testing the blood of individuals with anxiety disorders that the levels in the enzymes “AChE”, “BChE” and “PON” have been abnormal in ninety percent of these circumstances.

Although this check just isn’t still readily available commercially, a pharmaceutical patent was obtained for this blood take a look at in February of 2009. This may perhaps also present the clues essential to locate greater forms of cure for this disorder.

Other study can be getting done on blood testing which could detect the certain condition of the panic disorder. Researchers have found that there is a commonality among certain genes which can be current in the blood of people with a panic disorder.

You will find literally thousands of individuals who go to desperate rooms on an yearly basis and undergo cardiovascular system testing credited on the signs of an anxiety or panic disorder which may also mimic that of coronary heart attack, consequently, getting these blood tests could well be very advantageous in these circumstances as well as other folks when it involves producing the correct diagnosis of these disorders.

Dear Misty, I’m a twenty year old gay boy living in Vancouver BC, I suffer from OCD and panic attacks among other phobias since I was nine years old. On my birthday (Aug 1) the three only friends I had decided to call me on the day of my birthday to tell me they would not be coming over because they didn’t want to be friends anymore because of my anxiety problems. I guessed they found it to much to deal with. Now my question is, since my birthday, I have been inside my house everyday and devolved social anxiety, I’m scared to leave my house, and I don’t have friends to talk to, or help me leave. I feel lost, confused, and frustrated. I’m tired of living with anxiety, it has ruined my life. How can I make new friends when I’m scared of having a panic attack out in public? asked by TheCircus This is OBVIOUSLY a VERY REAL and DIFFICULT question to answer… Witness as I try my best in this VLOG… but I will also repeat myself here in saying that I DO BELIEVE you need to seek a therapist and start to iron out the wrinkles that plague you. If anything… it just helps to talk about things that bother you :)

Article by Mark Horner

Introduction

Arachnophobia is the scientific name for the fear of spiders. It is a very specific phobia; i.e. an abnormal fear of spiders and sometimes other arachnids, too, such as scorpions and harvestmen. Many people are afraid of spiders and most of us get shivers down our spine just thinking about those pointy little eight legs crawling on our skin. However, a serious case of arachnophobia is much different than someone who just doesn’t like spiders.

Those who suffer from the phobia are not only afraid of spiders, but they also fear places where spiders might be, and since that’s pretty much everywhere, this can lead to a very limited lifestyle. People with arachnophobia tend to feel uneasy in any area they believe could harbour spiders or that has visible signs of their presence, such as webs. There are people whose arachnophobia is so severe that they will not go outside during the summer months for fear of encountering a spider. But even that doesn’t solve the problem because a big issue for those with arachnophobia is that spiders commonly live in houses, too.

There are some that think that arachnophobia is a rampant deep primeval repulsion of spiders, despite spiders offering tremendous benefits to humans such as eliminating harmful insects from our environment. Arachnophobia is in fact a kind of fear of something that causes negligible or no actual danger. But try telling a sufferer that!

Arachnophobia can be so infectious that there have even been cases where the dogs of spider-phobic families become start running for cover at the first sign of an eight-legged beastie!

At the end of the day, people usually don’t fear spiders because they are poisonous; they fear them because they are just afraid of them. One way to prevent the development of arachnophobia at an early stage is to teach your child to recognise the difference between the nature of spiders and his or her beliefs and imaginings.

Causes

The causes of phobias in general often are not known, but they may begin with a traumatic event in which a person is severely frightened by a particular object, in this case, a spider.

Arachnophobia is, in many cases, the result of a traumatising encounter with spiders in one’s early childhood, though the experience may not be remembered. This is called a repressed memory. Therefore, most people consider arachnophobia to be a learned experience, the result of a trauma (remembered or not), or because of a series of negative images or events. It is known that children up to the age of two or three are not normally scared of spiders, so it’s unlikely arachnophobia is inherited.

From a general population point of view, arachnophobia is considered to be a cultural fear that has been passed down to us for centuries because spiders were once believed to be the cause of the bubonic plague. In many areas of Europe, the spider appears to have been a suitable target for the displaced anxieties caused by these constant epidemics; in other cases, its proximity to the real causes of the epidemics may have fostered opportunistic associations between spiders and disease. These misplaced cultural fears have done little to ease human relationships with our eight-legged friends.

Symptoms

The common and regular symptoms of arachnophobia are: breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak, unable to think clearly, fear of dying, losing psychological control, an enormous detachment from reality. These are classic panic/anxiety attack symptoms and are common to a wide variety of phobias.

Treatment

One-to-one treatment of arachnophobia usually consists of some sort of desensitising (gradually increasing exposure to spiders) therapy along with cognitive therapy (learning spider facts). Apparently when arachnophobia is extreme, other types of desensitisation (liking frequently dealing with real life spiders) is enough to keep many arachnophobes out of treatment.

Knowing something about your phobia, especially if it’s directed at some other thing or place, is going to be an important part of overcoming your phobia and arachnophobia is a good example.

Hypnotherapy helps by creating a relaxing and safe environment for the sufferer to explore and resolve the cause of the problem while enjoying a highly relaxed and comfortable state called hypnosis. This can be done in the physical presence of a hypnotherapist or by using the many excellent spider phobia hypnosis recordings available. The latter is a cheap and easy solution and saves the time and cost of finding and visiting your local hypnotherapist. The best recordings even offer a comprehensive money-back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose and your peace of mind to gain.

Conclusion

Spiders are virtually everywhere. They have been for millions of years and will be so for millions more. They are even known to survive in areas of nuclear fall-out! But we don’t have to fear them. Trust me, getting over arachnophobia is one of the easiest things to do. There are plenty of avenues open to us to rid ourselves of any irrational fear, and arachnophobia is no exception.

You owe it to yourself to relax that grip that your mind has over you when you see or imagine a spider. Then you can get on with enjoying your life without that creepy feeling of looking over your shoulder all the time…

Article by Tony Trussol

There are very few things in life that are worse than seeing a loved one suffer and live in pain. Even though most people would be desperate to help their friend, family member or lover to get better, it can be a very difficult process. There are so many issues and incidents that can impact on a person’s life and it is true to say that instances of post-traumatic stress disorder are on the increase. More and more people are suffering stress from something which has happened in their life but it is important that the people around give them as much support and assistance as they possibly can. This is not always easy but it is a very important to do as much as possible to support the sufferer.

One of the most important things when looking to help a sufferer of post-traumatic stress is to be patient and understanding. It can be very difficult to provide the support to someone who is shutting themselves away from the world or lashing out at people around them but this is often the time they need support the most. Anyone who has suffered from post-traumatic stress will understand the difficulties in communicating with the people around them which is why patience is an extremely important asset for friends and family members to have.

When trying to give support to someone suffering from post-traumatic stress, it can be helpful to understand and then possibly anticipate the triggers that cause the disorder to kick in. Some people may experience the stress at certain points of the year, if they have to go to certain locations or when incidents occur. It may be that news stories will act as triggers so being extra supportive when these stories are aired can be a good way to provide a high level of assistance for a friend that is suffering from this form of condition. It can be difficult to anticipate the triggers for people but over time, most people can develop a feeling or intuition for the things that set their friend or loved one off.

It is also important that those around the person suffering from post-traumatic stress don’t take the behaviour personally. It can be easy to feel hurt and let down by a person who has lashed out at you when you are trying to support them, but victims of post-traumatic stress often have little control over their actions when they are pressurised or stressed.

Question by Heather C: How do anxiety disorders and personality disorders differ from an adjustment disorder?
In an anxiety disorder there can be an identifiable stressor – ex. social anxiety and social situations
Borderline personality – a stressor can be an abusive relationship. How do these things differ?

Best answer:

Answer by Andrea
a personality disorder is when normal personality traits become so exaggerated that they become a hindrance to normal functioning. ie: it’s good to be able to lean on people and ask their advise at times but it is dysfunctional to ALWAYS have someone make all of your decisions for you… even what you eat for breakfast…. that become Dependent personality disorder…. normal trait to an unhealthy extreme. An anxiety disorder has symptoms that are triggerer by specific events but are not a part of the person’s personality….. An adjustment disorder is when you have an abnormal reaction to something that should be easy to adjust to. like going to college is easy for some.. more difficult for others… but a few people just cannot deal with the adjustment and become severely deperssed, anxious, etc… it is limited to a single situation and goes away if removed from that situation.

Panic attacks symptoms can be very confusing. They include weird feelings, you have no idea what’s going on, where they come from and why this is happening to you. Panic attacks can be confused with a nervous breakdown, heart attack, general anxiety and more. This guide will help you find out if you suffer from panic disorder or is it actually something else.

Hyperventilation

Do you feel that you breathe faster than you need? Short of breath? This is called hyperventilation. When this happens, the brain gets less oxygen than needed. The result: your vision blurs, you can feel dizzy, anxious, nervous and tense. You may also feel like crying and worst of all – suffocating. Than you get the need to breathe more deeply, which makes the condition worse. This causes feelings of numbness or cold feet, chest pain and trembling and tingling in your fingers and feet. It’s very frightening. Many people get so freaked out, they run to the emergency room immediately.

Dizziness

Do you feel suddenly light-headed or dizzy? Many times you may also feel unable to balance, like you’re sea sick. You may also feel like you are going to faint right now and that the world is spinning. This is usually caused by the hyperventilation but not always. When you think you will faint you get even more afraid which elevates the panic. This can continue for hours or just minutes.

Chest pain, Palpitations, Irregular Heart Beats

Chest pain is probably the most frightening one of the panic attacks symptoms. Most people that experience this are sure they are going through a heart attack. Your heart beats real fast and the chest muscles feel very tight. The added fear causes more false heart attack symptoms like sweating, numbness in the arms and palpitations. Sometimes you can feel irregular heart beats, or skipped beats. The chest pain you feel is caused by the tensed muscles in your chest and not by a heart attack.

Other Panic Attacks Symptoms Are:
· Throat thickening, choking feeling
· Blurred vision, sensitivity to light, itchy eyes
· Ringing in your ears
· Digestive system/Nausea
· Nausea and digestion problems
· Metallic taste in the mouth or ammonia taste or smell
· Sudden urge to go to the toilet, frequent urination
· Stiffness in the muscles, muscle twitching
· Shaking or trembling
· Feeling chilled, cold sweating
· Tingling in hands and feet, numbness
· Headaches
· Depersonalization, Derealization, Feeling of unreality
· Fear of losing your mind, fear you are going to die, losing control
· Chronic fatigue
· Being afraid to get out of the house, seeing people
· Dry mouth
· Mood swings
· Panic in the middle of the night, bad dreams
· Obsessive thoughts, trouble concentrating
· Sugar cravings constantly
· Weak legs
What Causes Panic Attacks Symptoms?

The reasons for panic attacks are not yet fully known. Some studies found that a combination of reasons are involved, some of them are: abnormalities in the brain (Chemical problems in some parts of the brain), family genetics (it’s known to run in families) and constant major stress or post traumatic syndrome (major life transitions, death of spouse or family member).

What Can You Do About It?

If the symptoms listed above apply to you, you may be suffering from panic attacks. There are many different ways to treat panic disorder: medication, herbal remedies, breathing techniques, counseling and supplements are some of them.

The best way to treat panic attacks symptoms is to achieve a real cure by treating the root and causes of the problem. This can be achieved by cognitive behavioral therapy.

Severe anxiety disorder is a mental illness created by fear, to understand it is to successfully CURE it. In this article I want to point out the symptoms, and the and why your brain plays a BIG part of keeping you in the fear cycle. This article is not written to shock you, BUT to make you aware of what will happen if you ignore this disorder.

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2!

Initially severe anxiety disorder will start out as 1, maybe 2 mild attacks, this could happen relatively close, or over a period of time – weeks / months. The fear alone from the first attacks is enough to rattle any of us, you do not know what it is, or why it happened, as far as your concerned you generally think you may have had a heart attack. The symptoms are VERY similar and because this is so frightening generally it will have you bolting for the closest medical center / hospital.

Just to give you an idea of the symptom of severe anxiety disorder, you can then see why it could be mistaken for a heart attack!

Rapid heart beat.
Dizzy spells.
Mouth suddenly dry”s up.
Start heavy sweating.
Stomach knots.
Tight restricted chest and throat.

And my friend this is only a short list of symptoms caused by severe anxiety disorder.

Panic attack scenario:

Has this ever happened to you? Just out of the blue one day you experience a rapid heart beat, sweaty hands and generally a feeling of loosing control. You have absolutely no idea what brought this on the only thing your sure of at that point was you were TERRIFIED, nothing like this has ever happened before.

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2!

You finally ride the wave, and your body naturally settles down, that is normal . it is called the rationalization mechanism. This is located in the front section of our brain which we will get into later.

BUT this is where the problem starts, the fear from that attack was so intense it is almost impossible for you to forget and just move on. So every day is like groundhog day YOU keep going over, and over this terrifying experience, you won’t let it out of your mind. unintentionally of course. It is like a needle stuck in the grooves of a scratched record, you just can not let it pass.

Severe anxiety disorder just got your permission to moved in!

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2!

Months pass, and you still remember the episode like it was yesterday, the smell that was in air that day, and the exact location it took place.

This is all part of the reason you have developed severe anxiety disorder, you are creating fear for yourself by not letting go. Your mind has taken over, you believe you are not strong enough to control the fear, so then the fear builds and this is how it snow balls. HELLO severe anxiety disorder.

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2!

Most people have the ability to switch fear off as quick as it starts, but for the majority this is an all most impossible task to do. Unless you 1, understand why the fear is escalating and 2, how to shut it off.

What does the brain have to do with having severe anxiety disorder?

So now I shall tell you what the brain has to do with severe anxiety disorder. ,
Firstly, just so you can follow, I will address 2 parts of the brain part 1, being the front of the brain rationalization mechanism . Part 2, being the middle of the brain fear mechanism .

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2

What happens is this, when we feel anxious, or fear approaching our own defense steps in and brain waves get switch very quickly to the middle section part 2 of our brain, this is our bodies way of saying” Hey this is not good prepare your self, so it goes into adrenalin stage.

This is what you feel when you have an anxiety attack. So if you have control over your brain or mind, you are able to say to your self ” hey what is going on, there is no situation, so you then can calm your self down”.

How this is done is by knowing how to switch the brain wave from the middle, back to the front where they should be. Piece of cake if you know how.

Something I do want to let you in on, the emotion, and physical trauma you experience from severe anxiety disorder is no different then the feelings of a professional athlete, only there is a reason they feel that way and that is because they are working out .Because you experience this when your just standing still is why you fear it, and believe me it is easy to stop the fear.

I DO NOT want to put extra fear into your life at this point but, if you ignore severe anxiety disorder the physical symptoms WILL be just the beginning. All most definitely not long after you will start to experience mental disorders.

A very short list of mental disorders caused through long episodes of anxiety.

Social phobias
Paranoia.
Embarrassment
Eating disorders.
Hypochondriac episodes.

A very nice little sample bag.

If You Suffer From Stage 1 Severe Anxiety Disorder – Believe Me, DO NOT let It To Go To Stage 2!

Are you tired of living your life around severe anxiety disorder, would you give anything to STOP severe anxiety disorder IMMEDIATELY?

The fear of being in an open space or in a situation where panic attack may occur where escape wont be available or may be embarrassing – these is the exact characteristic of agoraphobia. It’s very alarming indeed! And sad to say, this condition may occur to anyone, of any gender and age. Would there be ways of overcoming agoraphobia? Yes, so for those of you who are in torment of this condition do not be discouraged.

Agoraphobia is more than frightening than the fear being felt by the person experiencing this. Those who have this find it hard to be fully happy. Some of them just prefer to be alone and to confine themselves just to avoid such fear. Indeed, this disease is very alarming. But as mentioned, there are many ways of overcoming agoraphobia. Below are some of them:

Keeping Away From Stress

Stress is one of the major factors that can provoke anxiety that may lead to agoraphobia. Being too anxious about things, worrying too much, and engaging into physical exhaustion can cause hormonal imbalance resulting to stress. Stress can affect, not just the emotion, but also the way brain functions. To stay away from stress is to engage oneself to recreational activities, to avoid too much work, and not to worry too much. Following these simple things would make overcoming agoraphobia much easier.

Do Relaxation Exercises

This is a method commonly applied during therapy against anxiety. Through relaxation exercise, the mind and body are coordinated properly in releasing toxic as well as stress hormones that may provoke anxiety. As a result, the mind finds peace and thoughts become clearer. One good example of relaxation exercise includes meditation. But there are more relaxation exercises that can be done at home as well and which are accessible online.

Consult Professionals

Upon learning that you are experiencing agoraphopia due to panic attack, it is important to immediately consult a specialist for proper medication and treatment. These people can give you a first hand remedy that may lead to permanent treatment. The doctor can prescribe medication such as tranquilizer, while psycho-therapists or psychologist can provide treatment, especializing overcoming agoraphobia and other anxiety disorders. If the condition is severe already, like you no longer want to face people, you can sort to agoraphobia help online. There are wide variety of online help for agoraphobia over the Internet. People behind them are experts themselves so guarantee that they can help. And besides, you don’t have to make a personal interaction with them. Treatment can be arranged in module like studying them online.

Overcoming agoraphobia is easy if an immediate action is taken while the condition is not severe yet. Therefore, while agoraphobia is not that serious yet, do what’s necessary. Do not let agoraphobia overthrow you. Instead, do something and make overcoming agoraphobia a possibility.

Hi,
I’m currently part of a drama group creating a play that deals with the issues of panic disorder and agoraphobia. We really want to have an honest, realistic portrayal of these conditions – would anybody be willing to share their experiences?

More specifically:
How does it affect your every day life?
What are the things you struggle with most?
Are there certain triggers for panic attacks?
Do you find it’s hard for others to understand?

And anything else you want to add. :)
Really, anything personal – thoughts and feelings, stories of every day experiences – is the best. At the minute, we’ve got lots of medical lists of but nothing on how it actually feels to live with agoraphobia!

Thank you for your help!

Social phobia disorder is a common problem for a high % of the population. I have found that public speaking in any form, or even just a little office meeting creates so much tension for a victim to this disorder, that some people say they would rather be in a coffin then do an eulogy. That is a real issue and I want to cover a couple ideas that perhaps you can put into practice for your next speech, what ever that may be. This will definitely give you a bit of relief.

Reverse psychology for social phobia disorder victims to follow before, or during an office meeting!

Generally in work meeting situation there will be a group sitting in a close area taking turns to speak. Most people dread the fact that they will eventually have to speak, and try to think of some over the top excuse why they can not contribute to the conversation. This in it own self start to create anxious thought before you even begin.

Social phobia disorder makes the simplest things out to be the most frightening situation one would have to face. Ok brace your self, try this approach it is the total opposite to how you previously have been dealing with office situation.

Pretend to the group and try and convince the little man in your head that you are safe, nothing will happen to you, and you really want to speak.

Before you enter the room say to you self, i am looking forward to speaking today, i have ideas to throw around and they need to be heard. After all this will score big points if your boss loves your ideas.

Changing your thought process is the key to winning the battle against social phobia disorder!

Social phobia disorder tents to make us sit back and be silent waiting for that moment when you have to say something, your not going to do that this time as you are going to mingle before the meeting and not sit there quietly as usual. Start chatting to all the staff it will break the ice.

Now, if your speech is a little long, and you are not fully confident about projecting it in one go, break it up a little always ask questions. This takes the focus away from you, it tends to put it back on the group.

Social phobia disorder will not exist if you take away the fear!

See just because you have a social phobia disorder, it does not mean you can not do all the normal thing that others take for granted. You are the only one that knows your scared, start thinking differently about your fear this will make the difference.

Another great point is, if you are lucky enough not to have to speak first, ask question and get advise from other speaker, let them know what you are going to bring up, they then can give you some feed back.

Always interact and come across interested, and be fully engaged at all time, give an impression that you really want to speak. Anxiety tents to get worse if you sit in silence waiting to be call up, speak out first, never wait for them to call upon you.

When you continuously speak, and do not sit in silence every one then gets to hear your voice, it becomes familiar. What this does is it takes the pressure of you hearing you voice for the first time.

Social phobia disorder no longer has to create anxious feelings if you just convince your self your not afraid, the anxious thoughts are all in your head. This in time will build your confidence level up that high they will not get you to shut up. I just had a giggle to my self right now, as this is the case for my self at present.

I

I was once where you are now, i would rather die then speak even though i always had so much to say, i use to get disappointed because i thought i was weak. So your not alone and you do have help. Pop over to my websitefree-from-panic.com, i have built this site to prevent any one else going through unnecessary trauma fromsocial phobia disorder. Believe me this does not need to control your life.
..

one day i suffered from severe heart palpitations and that turned into anxiety disorder. I was a normal college student with a job great life. I did drink a lot, but have been sober for 7 months now due to this illness. the first time i got bad heart palpitations was after a night of yeiger and red bull…after my first trip to the hospital i suffered from panic attacks. now that its been 7 months it seems to only really trigger on stimulants like caffeine and sugars…ive been taking anti depressants to calm down the anxiety, but when i have caffeine it does not help at all. I use to have caffeine all the time and be fine. What is happening to me? I dont feel depressed or anything because i go out a lot despite knowing i may have a panic attack. i still cant get a job or go to school with this going on though. Can anyone relate to this or tell me wtf is going on?

Post partum depression is a condition that manifests itself in women following the birth of a child. The most notable symptoms experienced by sufferers of post partum depression include sleeping disturbances, recurrent sadness, loss of appetite, loss of energy, hopelessness, frustration, exhaustion, guilt, low self esteem, social withdrawal, and many other negative experiences.

Although much time and effort has been expended trying to unlock the secrets of this condition, no definitive single factor can be identified that in itself leads to post partum depression. Several issues have been singled out as important factors that contribute in part to the condition. These include prenatal depression, lack of self esteem, prenatal anxiety, and chronic conflict with a spouse.

Other known conditions that may contribute to the ailment might also include a perceived lack of social support, a history of depression within the family, low social status and even the fact that the pregnancy was not a planned event. As if this list of potential factors is not long enough, several other issues are known factors common to post partum depression sufferers. Additionally, mother’s race, social class or sexual orientation have been noted conditions that are common to many sufferers.

Consider an instance where a mother may experience a lack of social support and is forced to manage the affects of these stressful events by herself. This eventually causes the mother to shift her energy to satisfy the demands of pure survival as an alternative to totally expending her energy into a new being that may be considered expendable in that over stressed mental state.

When observed and diagnosed in the early stages, intervention can successfully treat and eliminate the condition. The prognosis for a complete recovery is good when professional assistance is sought and put into practice. A key component of the treatment involves educating the women about the causes and effects associated with post partum depression.

Support groups can be found in most large towns and cities where the self-help groups work in unison with the medical community to provide highly important social support. Women either pregnant or planning to become pregnant should be screened regularly by their health practitioners so that the early detection is possible.

The key symptom contributing to the classification of this type of depression is feeling lack of affection for the new born baby. Experts contribute a variety of views regarding facts that you should know about post partum depression. This depression should be taking seriously and to be acted upon it

I’ve been bound to my house for the past year and a half for fear of the world outside due to panic disorder. I want to know if it’s possible to recover from it all and how. I would really love to live life and pursue my musical ambitions, but with panic and depression plaguing me, I’ve gone nowhere. For example, I took a four-block walk yesterday, and as soon as I saw the busy street and the loads of cars, I panicked. However, I did not turn back, but since then, I’ve been shook up and can’t stop thinking about it.

Therapy couldn’t help me since the therapist seemed to want to focus on my “supposed” issues with my mother, therefore, I was never prescribed medication. Two years ago, however, I had recovered from panic disorder, but clearly it was temporary. It was then that I had another therapist and was taking medication.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to overcome this fear? Or is it simply process of doing as I did yesterday and facing the fear despite the haunting feelings?

Millions of people in this country suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. This disorder is characterized by exaggerated feelings of anxiety and tension every day of their lives over real and perceived issues. They imagine issues that cause them great amounts of stress and worry, which can range from health to money to family problems. For some of them, just the thought of going to work causes them great anxiety.

If you worry excessively about everyday problems for 6 months or more, you probably have generalized anxiety disorder. Even though you realize that the issue doesn’t warrant the attention you are giving it in the amount of worry it is causing you, you can’t shake the anxious feelings and it affects your overall health and wellness (http://www.wilddivine.com/servlet/-strse-6/Healing-Rhythms-Guided-Training/Detail).

This makes it difficult for you to relax and even get a good night’s sleep. You may have difficulty concentrating on things that do need your attention and you startle easily. There are also physical symptoms that accompany this anxiety disorder, which include:

? tiredness

? headaches

? muscle aches and pains

? nausea

? trembling

? urinating frequently

? feeling out of breath

? sweating

? hot flashes

Those with mild cases of this generalized anxiety disorder (http://www.wilddivine.com/wellnesslibrary/45.html) can go about their daily lives and work with ease, even though on the outside it looks as if they are able to handle all kinds of situations effectively.

Some experts suggest that generalized anxiety disorder can be inherited, since it does tend to run in families. The symptoms may not manifest themselves until later in life, but in the majority of these cases, people report that they have had some of the symptoms since their teenage years.

For those for whom the disorder is not inherited, it usually starts with a stressful trigger and then compounds from there with the person thinking the worst case scenario for every situation which arises in his/her life. The good news is that with treatment, this disorder can become manageable, if not eliminated all together.

One form of treatment teaches people suffering from anxiety disorders (http://www.wilddivine.com/) how to manage the feelings of worry on their own. If stress at work is the trigger, one can think about all the forms of stress that exist and work to find ways of reducing or eliminating these stressful problems.

A person that worries excessively about his/her financial situation can benefit greatly from financial planning. Sometimes, this disorder is the result of drugs or medications and when they are stopped the anxious feelings go away.

Cognitive behavioral treatment has been found to be quite effective at helping people control their own generalized anxiety disorder. In this treatment, a therapist works with the patient to change the negative thoughts that he/she has about normal situations in life that lead to the feelings of constant worry. Some of the elements of this therapy involve exposing the patient to these situations and letting them confront their fears to see that they are groundless.

There are also medications one can take for relief of generalized anxiety disorder. These drugs are called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and there are several different drugs in this category. They are antidepressants that help the brain block the reabsorption of serotonin and the possibility of anxiety attack symptoms.

Herbal remedies, too, are often used in treating this disorder, such as Kava, which helps to reduce feelings of anxiety. This is effective if you are worried about some of the negative side effects of some of the medications.

this is about a woman in her 40s. according to her, she panics when she meets crowds of people to the extent that there have been several episodes of “heart attack”.
there was once that she nearly fainted at the subway and had to be brought to the station office. Another time she experienced heart palpitations and breathing difficulties in her workplace and had to be taken by an ambulance. after a few weeks of physical checks, she was referred to the psychiatrist and the doctor said she had a panic disorder.
but the thing is she looks perfectly normal. and most of the time when she tells me she’s on the verge of panicking, we aren’t even in crowded places. like the supermarket and stuff.

plus, she also complains that the medication she’s given makes her feel extremely ill (drowsy and nauseous) and even suicidal. according to medical websites, such side effects only occur in young adults and kids.
i know the doctors have sorta certified it’s a panic disorder but she looks perfectly normal to me. I’m thinking she just believes she has a panic disorder? and doesn’t actually have it?

Social phobia disorder, it is a phase that most people would love to never have to hear. The fact is there are so many victim to this illness, and most of the time it gets ignored and eventually excepted as part of there lives. Firstly it does not have to be. This condition is actually treatable, as scary as it seems you have the power to switch it off, as quickly as you switched it on.

Social phobia disorder does not discriminate from, age, color, or race!

Before we go any further i want you to know this, i have been where you are now, i thought i just had to live with the fact that i was not normal, and i had to just cope with having social phobia disorder. I believed i had inherited this from my family, and there was no treatment out there to fix it.

I was 17, this illness stole 13 precious years from me, years that i could never replace. When the first episode takes place, you do not have any idea what is happening to you or, why you reacted the way you do. Those years stolen should have been the best days of my life. So do not think that age matters social phobia disorder will recruit any one.

The first episode of panic is the most frightening thing that could possibly happen to anyone, for no apparent reason, your body just starts to react in a way that has no explanation beside you thinking you are having a heart attack, or something more sinister.

Social phobia disorder can be cured with self help anxiety treatment!

Well you do survive it, but this is where it all begins, the constant thoughts in the back of your mind about that day, and what took place. It seem as if this is the only thought your brain wants to hold on to, no matter what you start to think about, it is like someone flicks a switch with out you consent, and there it is the episode being relived over, and over. and over, just like a D V D being fast forwarded, and rewound

You would think that something this frightening would be the last thing you would want to focus on, but for some reason you become obsessed about anxious thought, it is like you want to punish your self or something. Then you begin to dought your self and your ability of losing control, so you decide to shutdown from the rest of the world and stay in where it feels safe. ( Home environment)

Do not Give in to social phobia disorder, get back into society!

Social phobia disorder has now become the new way of living, why, because you gave those anxious thoughts the strength to take over, and make you feel weak, and then you lost the power to control them . Obviously this was not your intentions, never a less it did happen.

Breaking free from social phobia disorder is a matter of changing the way you react to fear!

First pointer, as silly as this may seem, you now have to realize that panic is in your life you, either fear it, or you except it and start to deal with it. Now is time for a reality check.

A plan to get social phobia disorder under control!

Today go out and by a diary, this is your viewing only.
Write in that diary, every single time you fear anxious, what the side effects were, how it made you feel. do not worry about the way you write it, your the only one that will sees it.
Record the time of day the attack takes place, how long it stayed, and if you can, what triggered it off. Most importantly were you alone or in company.
Do this for 1 week. At the end of the week go over your notes, review any patterns that may have taken place.
This is stage 1 familiarizing with the anxiety attack, let us give it a name, Hairy Harry, less threatening.
Ok now that you know the pattern of the side effects, you have to except them. Excepting them makes you react differently because, you are becoming familiar with your new friend , Hairy Harry. After all you are not scared of your friends, but initially you were before you got to know them and except there bad behavior.
After you except and you know what to expect, invite Hairy Harry to give you a stronger attack then usual. By doing this you are taking the power away from an attack, as your fear level has now changed, you do not fear him as much.
Last part of this exercises is inviting,i invite Hairy Harry back every day, yes every day, persist he comes to visit as you are now, familiar, excepting ,and open to his presents.

Social phobia disorder is a mind game, it is as severe as you allow it to be!

There are many other exercises that can control the way you think about anxious thoughts, take a look at my website free-from-panic.com, over there you can occupier your self for hours with knowledge on how to become social phobia disorder free, just like i am

I have a lot of troubles breathing. I’ve had panic disorder for about a year. I’ve been checked out for other issues, it seems to be just panic disorder. Does anyone else with panic disorder have troubles breathing more than once and awhile? I have also developed OCD now, I always check my pulse…like always. My friends always notice me doing it. They always just wonder why i’m doing it, and tell me i’m fine. I honeslty can’t stop doing it, not matter how hard I try. I also notice it my panic attacks get worse when I’m around smoke, or if I even have a drink or 2. I don’t drink on a regular basis. Hardly ever. I ate chocolate today and I’ve been having worse panic attacks. Also caffine I know is another one that triggers panic attacks. I don’t drink coffee, but I had an ice cap the other day and it was bad after…I had panic attacks like the rest of the day till I went to sleep. Tonight I broke down. I hate medication I don’t take it anymore. I don’t have much control over this. help
I don’t know how to deal with this. I’ve been to so many doctors. They all tell me i’m healthy. I always think i’m not. It ffeels helpless. I know a lot off people deal with this problems. Anyone I talk to that does I feel for them, because I know exactly how they feel. It’s horrible. I just like being reasured about this issue. It’s so hard not thinking it’s something else. I always get very moody too, while i’m having an attack. I feel bad cause I treat my boyfriend like crap, when he’s only trying to help. I don’t know how to control myself. It’s very frustrating.
One more thing. Does anyone with this problem have breathing problems when walking up stairs, or going for walks. Usually during a panic attack. Sometimes I do. Other time running around and being active helps..other time it just seems to irrate my breathing more. Does this sound farmilar to anyone?

Also I am on Zinthromax (antibiotic) and I feel really dizzy which isn’t helping. Is this just another symptom of my panic? I feel so helpless. Please cheer me up or help.
