Is having anxiety, and panic disorder a valid reason to get disability?
I was recently diagnosed with Panic Disorder, which is a form of anxiety, and I have had to take a medical leave from both my jobs and im not getting paid :( I can’t work because of the anxiety. I am in the state of TN I wonder if I can get disability money?

Check with your HR person.
More than likely you will. You are from the lazy south where no one wants to work anyway!
Yes it is you should apply at Social Security. My daughter gets it for the same thing. Good Luck to You, I will keep you in my prayers.
I dont think so but because your on medecine you can only ask. I get panic attacks and they are no fun ,it’s very hard.I am not on medecine and try to deal with it head on. Some days are just so much harder than others,
Good luck mate and all the best.
i live in az and my mom fell and became deply depressed in az as long as you have a doc sign the disability form your in but you have to keep them updated like every month or something.
yes, anxiety is a mental disorder and panic attacks can be serously dangerous if it intrferes with your abikity to do work or can be fatal its not easy to get unless your a drug addict then you get it as its considered a disease ironic
isn’t it
You should be able to..panic disorder is no fun..Good Luck
It is almost impossible in NC. I have both plus a couple of others & my doctor said it would takes a couple of years to get it approved.
As long as you can perform your job, don’t do it. Do not claim for disability unless your condition actually DIS-ables you from working.
Panic Disorder is easily treated with cognitive-behavioral therapy and medication (SSRI’s). Why not get treated before giving up? Avoidance is THE modus operandi of anxious people. If you avoid treatment and life by getting disability you are cheating yourself out of having a life.
I don’t know about the laws but these illnesses can’t be considered for retirement for sure. They can be treated very easily. One can get a period of time work off but after the medication he/she can get back to work!!What disability money are you talking about??Are you sure you’re fully informed about these illnesses that you got? It’s not schitzofrenia for God Sake?
yes you can get on ssi for panic disorder. i was told that i have to be under the care of a psychyatrist for a year first though. i have had them all of my life and i finally found a doctor who put me on a combination of clonazepam (a sedative) and meclizine (dramamine). it works great. i had to play with my dosages to see what worked best for me, but it doesnt take very much of the combo to work. i’m on a very low dose of each. the script for clonazepam is 3x daily. i take a half a pill twice daily and thats enough for me. you can get dramamine anywhere, give it a try, it makes me feel balanced, and takes away the dizzyness.
