I think I might have a panic disorder?
okay first, are panic disorders genetic? because my mom got them all through her 20s and 30s. i’ve always had high anxiety but lately i’ve been short breathing and wanted to breathe into a paper bag and sit down. my skin gets all these big hot red spots that i can’t control whenever i get nervous. i don’t know what’s wrong. and also lately when i’ve been driving i get really afraid and have the urge to jump out of the car…it’s happened three times in the last month. should i see a doctor for all of this?

Yes! Go see a doctor, it’s a panic disorder. The great news is, you’re perfectly fine, your symptoms just describe a typical case of panic/anxiety. Panic disorders are hereditary. My advice is to see your doctor. There are great programs online to help you cure your disorder. For example, try the Linden Method, I know that helped me a lot when I had bad anxiety for a while.
I recommend you try NOT to let drugs (over the counter etc) that your doctor might prescribe take care of this. Try out the Linden Method, and if things simply cannot get better, then try and get something to ease the anxiety down.
Remember, everything you’re feeling is just sensations. They can’t hurt you. Nobody has ever died from a panic attack. That’s a fact.
Don’t jump out of the car though! That will just land you a trip to the hospital, death, or a very high end bill later on!
Either way, look up the Linden Method, talk to your doctor, ask him what he thinks, and go from there. Hope I helped, stay strong. =]
Ya, I think you should go see a doctor.. that sounds like a very extreme panic disorder… I have a bit of panic disorder too.. I get so so nervous & panicky … I start to cry cause i cant do anything about it.. sometimes i get so bad where i cant breath and i vomit.. i get so tense and frustrated… especially when i have to get up in front of a class and talk or demonstrate something… all those eyes on me.. AHH!!
and I am very nervous on the road! i zone out a lot, i am very indecisive.. so i try to stay away from the main roads and go on back roads to where i need to get to.. i try to avoid the traffic/main roads as much as i can … and i try to get home before dark.. cause I always get a horrible feeling about the police or other things from movies…
but i think there are some times of herbs from a health barn that can help you…. DONT take medications.. they have very bad side effects.. and can really mess a person up! …
You should go see a psychologist. A medical doctor will probably only prescribed anxiety medications. Medication is useful sometimes, but it’s easy to get addicted in these medications. Besides, medication only masks the problem and does not get rid of it. People are more likely to develop panic disorders if their family members have it. Panic attacks usually occur because the brain prepares a “flight” or “fight” response, but there is no danger. Your brain just believes there is danger. A psychologist will be helpful because they can “retrain” your brain into becoming less nervous in situations. Also, when you are having a panic attack, try to distract yourself with a hobby. Think positive and know that everything is gonna be okay. Be open about your problem to friends so that they can give you advice as well.
