I’m new come to the craft as well. My family are not big christians, but my dad is into the native religion. He has pushed that on me for quite some time. Just know that God is not mad at you. It will take quite some time to get away from your old religion. I’m getting better at pulling away also. If the christian god is the same as the wiccan goddess, then everyone should realize and accept that any deity will accept you as who you are.
It may just be stress, not true panic disorder. You’ll require time to get past the idea that God is mad at you because you’ve had it put into your head for so long. These things take time, and you’ll stop feeling stressed about it once you know nothing will happen.
Perhaps if you spend some time forming a relationship with a different god or goddess, you will be able to turn your attention away from your fears. There are many gods and most are more approachable than Yahweh (god of the Bible). Look at it this way: All the gods are from the same Divine source. The Divine likes to wear different masks and interacts with the faithful of every religion and spiritual path on Earth. There is no One True Faith. Take your time, you have your whole life to do it in.

I went through something similar when I went from being a christian to being wiccan. Christianity preaches so much fear and it is so ingrained in everything they say and write that to truly separate yourself from so much fear takes a while. What kept me sane and on the path I felt was the right one was the feeling deep inside that it was the right one for me and the disillusionment I had with the Christian church. I simply couldn’t bear the fear and hatred any more. Good luck to you and I hope you find the peace that is waiting out there for you. Blessed Be.
The problem is not that ‘God’ is mad at you or anything similar, but that there is a part of you, probably the indoctrinated part, that refuses to follow your conscious decision, and is wanting to go back to that nice safe world of religion where we ‘know’. It’s a strange and wonderful world out there, and a little frightening to the new apprentice. Here is a little ‘poem’ that I came across that helps me when I’m overcome by fear of something:
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

look one of Gods commands was to never worship anyother god or have any other god
and so as it was in the old testement and of Gods people,,,
people want to believe that those people were singled out and we are not them ,, those that He brought out of egypt … but the truth is everyone is under GOD and people seperate them selves everyday here and there wheather you choose your own wicca or whatever GOD IS STILL CREATOR AND ABOVE ALL
look at what happened to satan when he wanted to do his own thing , well yes he’s over ‘hell ,,,,,
but GOD is STILL ABOVE SATAN TO THIS DAY and GOD has control of HELL!!!!!
everything you want to know about the pagans from the beginning after all wicca derived from it………. http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/babylons/default.htm
there isnt a religion in wicca its a self centered act of ones own life
it looks like you have turned away from the Lords Teaching and Commands , and chose to follow your own
Deuteronomy 28
(these are only a few)
58 If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law, which are written in this book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name—the LORD your God- 59 the LORD will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses. 60 He will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded, and they will cling to you. 61 The LORD will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed. 62 You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left but few in number, because you did not obey the LORD your God. 63 Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and increase in number, so it will please him to ruin and destroy you. You will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.
64 Then the LORD will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
65 Among those nations you will find no repose, no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you an anxious mind, eyes weary with longing, and a despairing heart. 66 You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life. 67 In the morning you will say, “If only it were evening!” and in the evening, “If only it were morning!”-because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see. 68 The LORD will send you back in ships to Egypt on a journey I said you should never make again. There you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy y
also don’t be wiccan ,,, http://www.spiritlessons.com/Documents/BillWiese_23MinutesInHell_Text.htm
Because of your upbringing, some small part of you is still fearful that “they” are right about god.
They’re not. God is imaginary, the bible is written by ordinary (well, sometimes pretty demented) people centuries ago. There is no heaven and no hell. Jesus probably never even existed.
So you can practice whatever form of religion you like. If Wicca makes you happy, then have at it. It’s all a form of getting in touch with your higher self.
You have some good advice above you, I also think your condition is due to the fact that you were raised a Christian and therefore had all the scripture fed to you over these years..Your Christian God isn’t going to do anything to you, it is just confusion… A bit like Constantine in the 4th century AD, he is responsible for the Christianising of Rome… He was buried as a Pagan with a Christian theme also, as a “just in case” clause I feel…Wicca gives you freedom to choose which God / Goddess you wish to honour as they are all part of the Goddess, the big energy, the Universe, the Cosmos…Meditate on the Goddess and you will come to realise that you have nothing to fear, as you are a part of her energy…Love and Light… BB… )O(
Wiccan is very fashionable right now, probably this is just a phase that you are going through. Most people follow a similar religious tradition to that in which they were raised, and as you did not mention which “flavor” of Christianity you were raised in, I can’t assume anything, but I would not be surprised if it was a fundamentalist-type tradition, such as Baptist. Sooooo…you feel guilty and nervous and afraid of going to Hell.
Listen, my young friend. being a teen-ager, building your own identity, rebelling from your parents, that is all normal. but if you feel, deep inside, that what you are doing is wrong, listen to your heart. I don’t have a hammerlock on reality, but I would guess that you have some really cool friends that are Wiccan, that you have flabbergasted your family, and that you are afraid of being judged by God—and that you take all this stuff very seriously. I would recommend that you find a quiet, private place and pray about this. Or meditate. Whatever. If you hear a small, silent voice in your heart, listen. Give it a full 10 minutes or so. Just be still and ask God, if he/she is there, to advise you on what is right.
hey—Wiccan might be the answer. That’s between you and your Creator. Just meditate, pray—and listen. The answer is out there—if you listen.
Honey, no God is giving you panic disorder or is mad at you. You are having simply a “brainwash religion crisis”: all your life people told you that the religion you where born with was the only true one and the only best one, so changing it, though you know you like your new path best than the old one, makes you be scarred because of all the christian brainwash you had all your life. Gods are not mad at you, you know perfectly well that if a God really loved you he would be happy to make you choose the path that makes you happy, and call God as you wish, God, Zeus, etc all are different faces of a same energy… So do not worry it is even rather normal for people changing religion to panic out a bit.
If the Panic Disorder continues, don’t think its God, think to see a Doctor :-)
Dont worry, everything will be fine, you just need to adjust a little bit and start to take the fears away from yourself sweetly :-) You can make yourself an amulet for courgae using a small clay lion head, you make it yourself and mix in the clay herbs for courage and for relax to help you concentrate on yourself and not on what scares you :-)

I am a little confused.. by saying you believe in Wicca are you saying you believe in the Goddess Mother , that your faith lies with her? or are you saying you believe in Wicca itself? sort of threw me there.
It seems like your thinking Wicca is cool etc.. but it seems to me if you believe in and have faith in our Goddess that you should know she is there for you.. And if you fear the God of Abraham still.. perhaps you need to do some more searching within yourself.. What do you truely believe? where does your faith lie?
Are you willing to be persecuted, picked on.. insulted for the Goddess?
I have been following the path of the Goddess for many years.. guessing close to as many years as your age is. and it is a struggle at times, not my faith.. but the crap we have to hear from others.. , I do not fear the God of Abraham nor any God nor do I fear any person who wants to judge me or insult me.
You need to study a lot more hon.. make sure it is truely the Goddess you want to follow and not just I want to be wiccan.. It isn’t that simple ..
I had to watch a dear friend and fellow sister of the faith get chased out of town when she simply opened a little metaphysical/wicca supply shop.. She was literaly forced out.. She fought and i aided her as best as I could to help her.. she not only lost her business but had to move away because the pressure became so unbearable on her..\
I guess what I am basicly trying to say.. if you choose a path other than the mainstream.. you have to be prepared and willing to stand your ground.. and that includes against the christian God if need be.. but if your faith in The Mother is strong you will make it just fine…
Try meditation to relax.. do some scrying .. look within yourself and be sure this is the path you truely want..
Brightest Blessings and I do hope you find your true path soon..
Feel free to email if you need to talk about this more in depth..
Just breathe.
Admit to yourself you are on a spiritual journey. You might be closer to God than some of the Christians who show up at church on Sunday, smug and reeking of designer cologne. At least you are sincere in your quest, which God requires.
Secondly, you have changed your religion, not your God, right? This is oversimplifying, but it’s kinda like switching your long distance carrier. (I know I’m gonna hear about THAT one.) Many, many religions; one true God. Different paths to the same destination.
My friend tells this very eloquent story about Heaven being like the top of a mountain and we take different paths because we come from different places.
It pleases God to follow the Ten Commandments and you don’t need to deny Jesus Christ or his sacrifice on the cross to be Wiccan. Just add to this the Wiccan Rede in all things that you do.
Christians are no strangers to spiritual struggles; they are not immune to panic attacks either. We all have fears of death and dying as part of our survival instinct. Perhaps your spiritual awakening has made you more sensitive to it.
And if it makes you feel better, there’s nothing stopping a Wiccan from reading the Bible.
To banish that which has control over you….go out into some quiet place and visualise that which is affecting your life.
Sit down in a clutter free area and chant twice,
“Freedom of space
Freedom of mind
Help remove these problems of mine
Hold me close
But set me free
Love the love I give to thee
I can’t escape you I can’t be free
Please Please let go of me
I need some alone time
I must work alone
your problems are my problems
this we know
Freedom of space
Freedom of mine
Set me free now
To be on my own.”
Also you could try this binding spell…
Ingredients A Marker
Setting At your altar or in your altar room. Any time.
Actions
Write the following on your altar or on the altar room door on the inside, after you write it chant it 3 times to activate the spell,
“By the powers of three times three,
The supernatural shall not be free,
Under Wiccan(Pagan) control thou shall be,
Until sent back or set free,
By the powers of three times three,
So mote it be!”
You won’t regret casting this spell! This keeps anything harmful in line and they cannot be freed or released without your permission. It also keeps them from possessing you or a coven member without your permission. This spell does not control the spirits just keeps them farm harming or trying to do harm.
You have some very wise advice her from some very wise Wiccans, i will not try to add to that except to say that i agree with what they are saying. I will say a blessing for you tonight as the moon is full here in Australia.Good luck and stay strong!
Blessed Be!

sweetie i’ve beenin your shoes and this is what i did, first of all become what i call an independant wiccan, which means i have my own beliefs (they hold true to 80% of wiccan beliefs but i only believe in one god) this i am a solitary witch.
2. god gave you the ability to choose
3. the god i choose to believe in loves all and as long as you live a good life and do good to others you will go on to the next plane
4. god guide us as well as are intuition to the right path, trust your instincts stop listening to the bible thumpers (yes that means your family) and live the life you feel you should live.
remember hell does not exist only regret and fear.
here’s a joke to cheer you up:)
There is a jew, a wiccan, a buddist, a hindu, and a muslim they all die in a plane accident and go to heaven. So, the gate keeper, Peter awaits them with great happiness and welcomes them! The group is then invited by Peter to take a look at heaven.
They are absolutely mesmerized!
They keep walking around and suddenly come across a huge wall.
the wiccan is surprised and asks Peter, “why, why is there a wall here?”.
Peter holds his fingers to his lips, “shhhhshh. It’s the Christians. They like to think they’re the only ones here.”
Being Wiccan has nothing to do with the panic disorder. I had panic disorder back when I was a Christian and now that I’m Wiccan I learned ways to over come them. I meditate. Know this the universe is made up of star dust god/ess is made of star dust you are made of star dust. God is in you and you. How can god be mad at you? You live in the heart of god/ess.
blessed be
As u know, Wicca and their spells and demons do exist, and u may worship them now, but God has more power over them and rules them, so i don’t know why u turned your back on God and just discarded him like trash.
Whether u don’t believe in God anymore makes no difference, because deep down inside u know He exists and loves us all, and the demons u worship now are laughing with Satan about how they have taken yur soul away from him.
why does one have to compete with the other
as a wiccian we have to listen to mainstream criticize us
cant we borrow a little from all faiths as that is how all religions were started a blending of oral tales from many sources believed in by a group of people then formalized by the written word
peace, food of our soul, compassion, being the best person we can be, honesty, and brotherly love…..aren’t they the cornerstones of any belief
To look after our home , family, our earth and our inner soles
are the inner hopes of most people
your god or your goddess will find you maybe you need to blend the best of both to find peace
like most things it takes time to find where we belong and it is our journey of discovery that gives us most enlightenment ………may you find peace soon ……….may you be blessed with enlightenment from what ever source you need by any path you travel may you be the best person you can be
You’ve only been Wiccan for a short time, so you’ve still got a lot of Christian baggage to shake off. It’s OK. It takes some people years to fully heal from the mental shackles of Christianity. It took me a long time. For the first few years, I went back and forth between various Pagan paths and Christianity.
Wicca and other Neopagan religions encompass a totally different, non-Christian world view. So, when you go from being Christian to being Pagan, there’s that shift in world view that can be traumatic. It’s OK. It gets better. Christianity is a religion based on Fear. They want to scare and bully you into being Christian. The Neopagan paths, such as Wicca, are based on Freedom. You are Free now. The Gods will protect you. But it takes time to get past the fear that Christianity instilled in you. Be patient with yourself.
This is the Pagan world view, as I see it;
There are many gods, not just one.
You are not evil, you are not a sinner, and you are not born deserving to go to Hell! There is no such thing as Original Sin, and no Hell to be saved from, so you don’t need Jesus to save you.
Nature is good. Your nature as a human being is good. Your natural instincts, your intuition, and your heart is good. Follow it.
The Universe is not Black and White, Good and Evil, there are shades of Gray, and a whole rainbow of color! The hardest part of the Christian worldview to shake is the Dualism — a lot of Wiccans haven’t quite gotten past it. This comes with time.
You’ll be OK. As said, the Gods will protect you. I went through the same process you’re going through when I first came to Paganism (Wicca, at the time), and I was just as scared as you are now. But this is further proof that Wicca (or some other Neopagan path — keep an open mind ;-) ) is right for you, not Christianity. But the Christian world view is hard to shake, and it doesn’t go away over night. Be patient with yourself, and be strong!
it’s because the idea that you HAVE to be christian or die was beaten into your head.
Your god still loves you, you just are using different methods than christianity for expressing your religion.
practice your religion because you believe in it, not because you think you’ll be dammned if you don’t.
I was a little nervious when I started out too, but I decided that since the bible is flawed and man is flawed it would be up to me to decide how I worshipped god. And if god is the all loving creator they are suppose to be, they will understand.
Bright Blessings!
I read through all the answers here and you have some solid advice to follow and many many things to think through.
First off, you need to think about why you feel that “believing in Wicca” is what is right for you.
As someone already pointed out there are many paths to the same end. Your God and my Divine are the same – I just view God as a couple (male and female) not just Him. Following the Wiccan path should be natural and, in my opinion, should NOT be about being scared all the time.
Secondly, you should understand that there is no one to fear. There is no God/Goddess being mad at you and it won’t be The Divine who kills you either. For me, viewing The God and The Goddess as my loving parents helped me establish a bond with The Divine.
You see, my Dad and Mom (God and Goddess) would never kill me because I disobeyed (sinned against) them. Seriously, they would never send me to a place where I would burn for all eternity (hell) because I decided to find myself a surrogate mother or father (different God or Goddess). They would still love me and support me no matter where I chose to live (faith to believe in).
I hope this helps. Good luck on your spiritual journey. Keep reading about Wicca – the more you learn the more comfortable it will be and if it’s not then perhaps it is truly not the right path for you to follow.
you are just having guilt feelings about giving up christianity for wiccan. you will be fine. it’s hard to change religions and be surrounded by people who don;t believe as you do. i live in a town surrounded by all christians and practice wiccan in the privacy of my home . when people at work tell me about jesus , god and all that or say we’ll keep you in our prayers, i just smile and tell them thank you. things will get better for you as time goes on.. blessed be
You are just feeling anxiety because you were brought up to believe that magic and sorcery are gifts of the devil, which I can assure you is NOT true. You need to calm down and think on this with YOUR OWN mind, not the mind of your family. God is not angry with you. He can see you want to find a different path to him than the ones your family has taken. Many people who convert from Christian religions feel they are betraying God by changing their faith. I did for a little bit, but I now feel this is the best way for me. Better than a Christian way. Sit calmly, don’t get yourself overworked. Try a meditation. It may help. Also try to consider whether this IS the right path for you.
Good luck
Hugs
I can give you my opinion. All religions have a main God”supreme being” and then lower Gods. In christianity it is based on One God, and the Angels, I suppose I should mention Jesus here too, as he is said to be at the right hand of God. The thing is all religions have similaritys, and some shred truths, but no matter how you choose to look at your God, You are still worshiping God. Also remember the wiccan Rede, follow it, and you cant go wrong. I read some of the other comments and agree, it will take a while to get past the teachings of christianity, I still have problems sometimes. I still pray, and this helps me, but although in wicca we have many ways to concentrate our prayers, I still pray to God, I am certain it still goes to the one it needs to….Good luck , and Blessed Be !
Oh how I feel your pain.
I live in the South, the Bible Belt. Christianity is a way of life here, churches are almost an idenity. And there are times I envy them like you do the popular kids in high school. Ah to be main stream, to be a part of society, ect. I fear for my kids. They will be ostrasized if people found out. Eek! Am I doing the right thing? Am I being selfish? Am I WRONG?
EVERY faith has thier moments of doubt. Every one has a journey. But at night, when I meditate in my safe little circle, I realize in the end its all the same. Christians have thier God/Gods/DemiGods. They have given Satan godlike powers, Jesus a gods status and that is ok because it’s what works for them. The only difference between them and you is one man.
Last night I decided that Jesus could have been a living God. I have no idea. But its hard for me to believe and I refuse to say Ok I will be Christian when I know in my heart of hearts, I just don’t believe it. It would be FEAR driving the faith and that isn’t what faith is about.
If to err is human and to forgive is divine and we are all God’s children, then in the end if I am wrong I will still be fine. Anger, vengance, punishment…its all HUMAN emotion. Yes every God has thier dark and light sides, but I would love MY children no matter what. No matter what men wrote to make them fear me. I love my kids. If I have posses that love, then I think the Divine’s have it covered. Just take deep breaths and look inside YOU. If you know in your heart of hearts, sould of souls that you believe in the God and the Goddess, two aspects of the divines, as much as they believe in you, then you are right where you need to be. Certainty is the first step off the path of wisdom. Keep the path.
Blessed Be!!
Hey! Calm down! Please don’t cry! :(
1) The fact that there is a divine being ruling our lives is not for certain.
2) If you feel this is right for you, then go for it.
3) I think you maybe feeling a little guilty because of a Christian upbringing, which is okay, but it’s not for everyone. By turning Wiccan, you may feel that you are turning your back on your Christian family, friends and/or beliefs. But they will still love you. And (not that it’s proven he exists) I heard in the end God still excepts good people who pray to different gods.
When I became Agnostic, I was scared, too. But in the end, I figured it was my life and I’m in control of how I run it. I think the same should apply to you, and don’t let anyone else tell you different. You are in control.
