i have been diagnosed with a panic disorder an have been having trouble breathing….?

Well it feels like I can’t breath my face gets tight, nose and mouth and I get freaked out. Does anyone else get this and does it have to do with my panic disorder…

You are hyperventilating. You HAVE to calm down and tell yourself this IS going to pass and that nothing/no one is going to hurt you. MAKE yourself slow your breathing down or you are going to pass out. Trust me…..there is nothing wrong with your lungs/airways. Calm down, slow breaths.
Practice deep breething count to 5 on the inhale and count to 5 on the exhale untile you are calmed down. All of the physical signs of a panic attack are do to quick shallow breathing and can be stopped by breathing properly. It takes practice.

are you on any meds for your panic disorder? like klonopin?
also try doing yogic breathing called pranayama (sp?) have a look around at yogajournal.com and you will find info about breathing…
Yes, your trouble is probably related to your panic disorder. See a doctor and ask for medication and to have the medication monitored until you find something that works.
I have been diagnosed with panic/anxiety disorder. I am currently taking klonopin for it. It does help but there are side effects to the medication. I have calmed down a great deal by going through therapy. I was hospitalized for a week because it got so bad. I couldn’t breath, shook violently, chest pains, the whole nine yards. You have to put your mind in a safe or enjoyable place. Sit back close your eyes and imagine you are somewhere else. And the breathing everyone else is talking about does help. Try and figure out if your worrying about anything or thinking negatively about anything. If you are you need to change that into positive thoughts. It’s difficult but it works.
You have just described a panic attack. They are different and the next one might not be the same as the first. Did your doctor or whoever diagnosed your panic disorder have any thing for you to try?
