How can I conquer the phobia to a specific animal?
I have suriphobia- the phobia of rats. When I was younger my aunt would always mention that rats carried diseases. As a youngster, this left a big impression in me and it caused me to become phobic of rats. I guess our gullibility when we’re younger contributes to this enormously.
Do you fear any animal? And what has caused you to become afraid of it?
Was it a suggestion from someone when you were younger, seeing others around you react with fear towards it or a traumatic experience with that animal?
What steps can I take to conquer the fear of an animal?

Spiders and Sharks the terrible S’s for me what you should do is research rats wikipedia it or anything that will help you get a better understanding it will take a while but it will work or you could go to a animal adoption centre and ask them about temporarily adopting a mouse they are like rats but prettier after you think your used to mice take it back and then get a rat im not sure if its for you but it worked for my sister she was the same with rats
First try to conquer your own mind. Then you can try further.
I’ve owned pet rats for about four years. They never even bit me and they certainly have no diseases. Those are pets though, wild rats are a different story.
If I had to say I had any phobia it would be snakes probably. I was told freaky stories and saw tv shows about people being bitten by snakes. I mainly don’t like em cause they have venom. not to mention fangs that big sticking into my leg doesn’t sound too appealing…
