Is there a physical reason? Do you have a heart defect? Mitral Valve Prolapse? Do you eat sugar? Do you have a starch-based diet? Do you have high levels of stress? Does this occur near your period? Do you have a systemic yeast problem (in your bloodstream or stool?) There are all kinds of physical causes, and if that’s the case with you, it’s very possible you can get rid of it without meds.
Yes, you can.
Think about it – panic attacks are IN YOUR HEAD!!! You feel like you’re going to die, but you’re really not, right??? You need to breathe through it and think through it.

I’ve had panic disorder/gad since 1994. (that’s when I was originally diagnosed). I’ve always been on some kind of meds. I am presently on Effexor and Buspar. It’s ok. I liked Paxil best, but I gained weight from it.
I’ve always wanted to go off meds, and try it on my own. Problem is, Panic Disorder is a monkey on your back. You never know when it’s coming back to haunt you.
If I was having panic attacks, I’d be unable to function normally. My panic attacks take me to the emergency room. I remember what it was like before I was diagnosed, it was horrible. I didn’t ever know from one day to the next whether I’d be rushed to the hospital. I can’t live like that. I needed it under control. And, with meds it is. I guess if in the long run I suffer from damage due to the meds, then that’s the price I’ll pay for being attack free for many years. It’s a choice.
I have gad and panic attacks. I was on effexor xr for about 3 years and decided to go cold turkey. I stayed off of the meds for about 1 year, and due to stress, the gad hit me again. Went back on the meds for awhile, and then went cold turkey again. This time I plan on staying off of the meds. My suggestion to you would be to talk to your physcian and explain how you feel about meds. Taking the meds helped me. Now I feel I do not need them anymore.
Explanation therapy is a kind of psychotherapy, which the patient re-faces the event that initiate panic attack. It does often help you to reduce phobia.
Psychotherapy is done to understand patient about many psychical contradictions.
