Social phobia or social anxiety disorder is the constant fear of being criticized or evaluated by other people. People who suffer from social phobia are excessively self-conscious to the point where they feel that everyone around them is looking at them and judging them harshly. They become nervous, anxious and afraid of the world around them. For those with social phobia, everyday social situations like parties can become highly intimidating ordeals.

The key to the problem is that people with social anxiety want to be liked. They want very much to be seen as witty, dynamic and sociable. They want to fit in. However their anxiety about not performing well in public is so strong that it tends to cripple their best efforts. They freeze when they meet new people, particularly if they want these people to like them, for instance because they feel attracted to them or because they look up to them. They are afraid that their anxiety will be noticeable and this fear causes the anxiety to grow and turn into a vicious cycle.

Social anxiety usually develops early and without adequate treatment can be a chronic, unrelenting torturous condition. However, with suitable care, it is possible to overcome social phobia altogether.

Social anxiety disorder is an illness that customarily runs a chronic course and is often associated with other psychiatric disorders. The duration of social anxiety disorder is frequently lifelong. Yet in these times, there is no need for it to be. Significant improvements in the quality of life are within the reach of nearly all sufferers.

From a neurobiological point of view, low levels of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotomin are commonly associated with social anxiety. Research shows that people with social phobia are five times more likely to develop Parkinson’s disease in later life – Parkinson’s is caused by abnormally low levels of dopamine. From a pharmaceutical standpoint, drugs which boost levels of these neurotransmitters can provide very efficient treatment for social phobia.

As for psychological treatment, among the most effective are CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and CGBT (Cognitive Group Behavioural Therapy). In supportive environments, social phobics can learn to address their fears and can steadily overcome them. With the help of a therapist, they can develop strategies for coping and find a more constructive way of viewing their fears. The advantage of group therapy is that they can meet and interact with fellow sufferers, which will help them to realise that they are not facing their problems alone.

People in this world are equal, there is no one better than the other, I am like you and you are like me, that’s what you have to know before asking about this case…!!!

What is social phobia!!!!

It is the fear of people for unjustified reasons and it is a cursed case which affects the human being negatively and accompanies him since the childhood specially in the early ages starts from the age of 12 till 19 years of old which we usually call it (Adolescence) this stage which is considered the character building stage for humans.

It is a case before other conditions like the depression, anxiety, panic, fear of the unknown and that is to know that those cases are connected to each other, it can affect the person if he couldn’t find the appropriate treatment for it, we can’t deny that there are some cases affect the person after that age but in the end it is just one case called the social phobia

The signs of this case are many and it is different from one person to the other but there are major signs in which the affected guy can find it himself and it can be noticed from the people around him and we can mention one like: the inability to talk with others and the fear of criticism and mocking ,Fear of reading in front of people or even just few of them, avoidance of attending wedding ceremonies and birthdays because of the fear of the people ‘s looks towards him or talking to him, avoidance of talking in the cellular phone in front of others and putting the phone mode on silet or even shutting it off completely to avoid the embarrassing situations, not to practive in social activities whether in the university or work or even in the house too, fear of asking about something so as not to get embarresed , avoid eating or drinking in restaurants or might go to a restaurant but sit in one of the corners to avoids people’s eyes on him while eating, sitting in the back seats in the meetings , lectures or theatres to avoid feeling that people are looking at him.

Do you know that 70% of the people are having this infirmity but with a varying proportions, and it might just be very low proportion in which it might not be felt, unlike some people who can get effected significantly , and do you know that the people who are suffering from the social phobia around 80% of them are suffering from other mental illness as we stated before?

What are the symptoms of the social phobia?

Social phobia symptoms are classified to psychiatric and physical symptoms. The psychiatric symptoms: they are the symptoms that accompanies this case and increases till it turns to be diseases and mental disorders like: feeling insecurity, tension and worry, losing self confidence, shaking and panic, hesitating in taking decisions, the social isolation, getting tired from work and lower productivity. The physical symptoms: increase in heart palpitations , feeling tired and fatigue quickly, feeling pain in some parts of the body, lack of concentration, weakness of memory, dizziness, dyspnea and increase in the blood pressure. Those are some symptoms which accompanies the person who is suffering from the social phobia and those reasons can vary from a person to the other depends on the strength of the case, its degree and the age of the person..

What are the reasons of the social phobia!!!

Some scientists and doctors mentioned that this case has particular reasons experienced by the patient himself in an earlier age and it accompanies him till the age of the puberty and some of them has faced situations in his life which can’t be forgotten and it has a negative impact on him specially in the childhood in which we can mention that this is the difficult start to build the person and promote his self confidence in the adulthood, the kid who can’t read infornt of others will face a real difficulties to read in front of others also when he gets older and it will become a fear by age , and who ever didn’t sit and talk in front of his friends it will be difficult for him for sure in the subsequent years-old , and here comes the role of the family in building this small kid and removing all the small fears from him so it doesn’t get bigger in the subsequent years.Yes..The family rule is really big in the education because of its positive and negative impact for the baby’s ages,..violence, flogging and mockery put fear ,reduction and poor self confidence in the child and this is the most negative reason in building the personality. On the contrary the feeling of the peace of mind and the over tenderness gives the kid his self confidence, opinion and self-assertion and talking like his friends because there is always who is giving him the absolute protection and comfort so you can see the child in the beginning doesn’t care about anything because there Is always who can take care better than him..Those are some reasons which accompanies the child from his childhood till his youth and which affects the build and the refine of his personality, but the surprise is in another reason which is (the failure)Failure also is one of the most important reasons for the fear because of its negative impact on the future of the individual life , because the human by his nature can think, make and create but in the end sometimes he collides with the failure , some talented people has this capacity, he fears of failing in his work, study ,creations, inventions and everything, failure creates in him the worry , tension and hesitation so he can’t move a step forward till it becomes his capacity and his disease can increase and develops till it becomes mental illness and the reason for that is fear of other people.Who do you fear?!! Who is waiting for your failure?!! Aren’t you like them?!!Yes..These are the reasons which destroys our life early and destroys our happiness if we didn’t find the solution or the appropriate treatment till we get rid of that disease which is the key of mental illness..

The social fear and its treatment

We already found that for each case of the previous cases there is a reason and if the reasons is reversed this will be the treatment, briefly if your fear people so you have to face them and if you are suffering from a specific problem so you have to set yourself free from that problem as soon as you can and you must break this psychological barrier. The psychiatrist in that case will not treat you and I will tell you honestly he will not give you except some medicine and sedatives which will let you feel lazy and sleepy and will give you some instructions which will help you to change the course of your life and beat this problem, just be confident that the treatment will not be except from yourself and here are some tips for you and it is from a real experiments of people who changed their cases because of their strength and continuation only:1-Be sure that other people are not looking at you in the negative way that you think and make sure that you are the only one who is thinking in that way.2-try when you speak just think only about the subject which you are talking about and try to concentrate in it as much as you can , think even in a moment that these people around you are not existing and they have no value and plant the confidence in yourself in that time and take courage3-try to begin your talk with a smile and joke and make people smile for you and that will reduce the tension and remove the barrier of fear from the beginning..4-inhale the fresh air and take a deep breath if you felt any tension or confusion5-you have to always feel self confident and tell yourself that you are strong enough to beat any problem in the most difficult times6-try to have a plan always in which you can go hiking in the gardens and walk at night during the week and daily for at least 2 hours.7-try not to spend all the time in your house and don’t be isolated alone in it specially in your void time8-don’t convince yourself to failure but just say I didn’t succeed yet, I am telling you honestly if you fear from failure so you are talented more than some other people and you have to continue till you reach your goal9-begin with drawing your future and plan for it even for years…Because in the end you will succeed and the people will say that you succeeded.10-learn from your mistakes and don’t blame yourself and don’t give up till you do what you want, just have self confidence in yourself

in the end you don’t need to waste other years of your life because you choose the isolation from people and you don’t want to waste the happy moments in your life while you are with your family or your kids or even yourself..Put a limit to that and from here you have to know that you are your own doctor, just have confidence in yourself..

Article by Iris0326

Agoraphobia is an abnormal and persistent fear of public places or open areas, especially those from which escape could be difficult or help not immediately accessible. The very word agoraphobia itself lets us know the nature of this debilitating condition. ‘Agora’ comes from the Greek language and it means places where people meet, or a marketplace. ‘Phobia’ is a fear of something. Thus we can understand that people who suffer from agoraphobia have a fear of being in crowded places.

Social Phobia is an interpersonal pattern of behavior which is most likely to appear and cause distress when a person feels that their social goals of asserting their wishes or gaining approval from others are dangerously unattainable or likely to fail. It is a form of self-overprotection from perceived social threats.

Agoraphobia and social phobia have some similarities that make hard to distinguish from one another. Both of them are afraid to be in public settings. And since both are classified as phobias, both conditions can be successfully treated with a program of cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Also there are differences between agoraphobia and social phobia. The main difference between them can be found in the nature of the fear causing the avoidance behavior. People with social phobia are afraid of social settings that involve groups of people or crowds. Agoraphobia, on the other hand, is the fear of open and public spaces, in the presence or absence of other people.

And people with agoraphobia would also be afraid to walk alone in a forest or on a secluded beach because no one would be around to help if they had a panic attack or medical emergency.

Luckily, both agoraphobia and social phobia can be cured.

Are You Afraid Of Being Judged By Others?

Scientists have found that people who suffer from social phobia respond in a different way to negative comments about themselves, than other people do.

What characterizes this phobia is fearing and avoiding social situations, and fearing being judged negatively by other people, the authors say. It is without a doubt the most frequent anxiety disorder among the general population.

If you have social phobia there’s also a higher risk for depression and other forms of self-destructive behaviors. We need other people in order to feel good. We need a social network to function properly as human beings.

Studies have shown that persons with the phobia tend to have an increased emotional responsiveness to social interactions.

This research published in the Archives of General Psychiatry (Oct 2008) was done using brain imaging technology, also known as MRI.

How This Study Was Made

This study was carried out by doing fMRI-brain scans.

First they scanned the brains of 17 individuals who were socially phobic but wasn’t taking any medication. And then they compared those to an equal number of control subjects who were of the same age, sex and IQ, but who did not have any social phobia.

The brain scans were taken while the test subject read various statements – positive, negative or neutral. “You are lovely”, could be an example of positive statement. “You look awful” – negative. “You are human” – neutral. The statements could refer either to themselves or someone else, for example “She is beautiful”.

What Did The Results Show?

When people with social anxiety disorder (phobia) read negative comments about themselves you could see the blood flow to the amygdala and prefrontal cortex increase. These are parts of the brain that are associated with a person’s self-concept but also fear, fight-or-flight emotions and stress.

The authors’ conclusion was that the medial prefrontal cortex and amgydala, in connection with each other, might play a crucial role in the development of generalized social phobia.

So having a negative attitude toward yourself can contribute to social phobia.

Start living anxiety-free today,

Article by Ari Saario

“Torture” is the word Alan uses to describe it. “Every time I walked into an office,” he says, “I would start sweating profusely, and I didn’t think I would be able to talk -even if my life depended on it. Then I would start to feel this intense heat rise and I would turn bright red. I feel like running away but of course I can’t. And it’s getting worse every time. I sometimes feel I can’t leave my home at all”Alan suffers from social phobia, a condition characterized by an intense fear of being scrutinized by others and of being publicly humiliated. The person with social phobia believes that all eyes are on him… And that he will embarrass himself. The anxiety can lead to panic-like attacks including such

symptoms as heart palpitations, faintness, shortness of breath, and profuse sweating.

One thing is sure: Alan is not alone. Studies suggest that the lives of millions of people are impaired by social phobia. Consider just some fears that are associated with this debilitating condition.

Eating in the presence of others:

Since people suffering from social phobia believe that they are being scrutinized, even a simple meal can become a nightmare. They worry that their hands will shake, that they will spill their food or miss their mouths,or even that they will get sick.

These fears can become self-fulfilling prophecies because the more you worry about the possibility of doing something embarrassing, the more anxious you become. The more anxious you become, the more likely you are to actually begin trembling and spilling that food.

Public speaking:

Granted, almost everyone gets jittery when standing before an audience. But the social phobic experiences a wave of terror that is intense and unremitting, and it does not diminish with practice. The sufferer is certain that he will humiliate himself, and of course the more he thinks of the prospect of embarrassment, the more anxious he gets.

Writing in the presence of others:

Fearing that their hand will shake, many panic when they have to sign a check or perform any other writing task while being watched. This too can become a self-fulfilling prophecy about all the embarrassing prospects.

Interacting with people:

Some fear virtually any situation that involves mingling with others. Often, they are particularly terrified of making eye contact. People with social phobias often feel anxious as they are uncertain where to direct they eyes and they imagine others will misinterpreted their gaze.Hence, with their body language, they reveal their anxiety – and yes: it is bound to become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

So, how do people cope?

Perhaps the most common coping strategy is avoidance. Many simply stay away from the situations that they dread. In time, however, many sufferers find that avoidance imprisons them rather than protects them and consequently breaking the social phobia becomes even more difficult. Every act of avoidance makes that trap easier to fall into the next time-until avoidance becomes an almost automatic response.

Some sufferers routinely decline all invitations or turn down job opportunities that involve interacting with people. As a result, they never learn to confront their fears and conquer them.

In effect people then let their fears and imagined rejections choose for them even their careers. They don’t even try a career they would love to because they have decided in advance that they would be a failure.

Good news:

There is, however, good news about social phobia: It is treatable. As examples above show, we actually learn (often subconsciously) to react in certain ways in anxiety-causing situations. And we learn the ways of coping with those situations. Like when we automatically avoid situations and thus make it even more difficult for us on future situations. Or when we fear something -which then becomes a nasty self-fulfilling prophesy.

In effect, we have ‘conditioned our mind’ to become anxious! The secret is: We can also learn to condition our mind to react in a non anxious way.

What happens when you learn this? Instead of suffering from those humiliating self-fulfilling prophesies in (previously) anxiety-causing situations; A POSITIVE, DESIRED RESULT WILL BECOME THE SELF-FULFILLING PROPHESY!

Automatically.

Instead of fearing that you will fail you know that you will succeed…and you know that even if not…you will not embarrass yourself! You will not get anxious! And this WILL increase your self confidence!

And you will speak with confidence in public…

Would that be good?

Social Anxiety Disorder, also known simply as Social Phobia or Social Anxiety is perhaps the most commone form of anxiety disorder known.

In fact, it’s so common that it is believed to affect somewhere around 10% of the entire population in one degree or another.

What’s more, it can affect absolutely anyone – from housewife to movie star.

Renowned entertainers who have spent years in the public eye — from Barbara Streisland to Kim Basinger — have spoken publicly of their experience and recovery from social phobia and anxiety.

And the effects of Social Anxiety Disorder and social phobia can be truly debilitating, if not devastating.

Actual physical symptoms often accompany this particular disorder and these can include increased heart rate and palpitations, sweating and blushing, shaking and trembling, stammering and nausea. In acute cases, the person may feel dizzy and as if he or she is about to pass out.

All this, of course, simply serves to intensify the fear.

The true fear underpinning this disorder is very often the fear of being negatively judged and evaluated by others. This fear can force the individual to become fearful and terrified of doing anything that has the potential to prove embarrassing to them in public.

Amongst the most common forms are fear of social interaction, fear of dealing with authority figures, fear of public speaking or performing, fear of exams and fear in connection with sexual performance.

Very often this disorder has its origins in childhood and infancy.

Indeed, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) estimates that somewhere around 40% of all such phobias begin before the age of 10, and a gigantic 95% before the age of 20. This is usually the case, even when the actual symptoms do not become painfully apparent until later in life.

Left unresolved and untreated, depression can develop and some may turn to alcohol and drugs in order to cope.

All too frequently the medical response to social phobia and Social Anxiety Disorder is to simply drug it, often with anti-anxiety medication – selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSIRs) such as Paxil or Seroxat (paroxetine) being particularly favored.

When psychotherapy is offered, it is usually in the form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

While both these approaches may provide a degree of relief to some sufferers, the emphasis of both is on managing the symptoms rather than actually treating and removing the underlying cause and drivers.

And, in the experience of this therapist, as long as the drivers remain intact then, sooner or later, the anxiety will return – and, all too regularly, with a real vengeance.

There is another way.

You see, the subconscious mind – that repository of beliefs – is merely attempting to protect the person from what it perceives to be danger, and so is manufacturing intense feelings of anxiey or fear so that he or she will be kept safe from harm. But the subconscious has got it wrong. It’s basing its response upon prior conditioning which is simply no longer appropriate.

With the techniques and strategies of modern advanced hypnotherapy, we can reach into the subconscious, to where the negative feelings are generated, and realign the faulty beliefs that are responsible for keeping the ‘program’ running.

Once this is accomplished, the symptoms – social phobia and social anxiety – just become extinct because there is nothing there to drive them anymore.

If you have been struggling with the really debilitating effects of social phobia or social anxiety disorder, do not give up — effective help is available.

With modern and advanced hypnotherapy techniques, you can be returned to your true nature and be released from that old anxiety and fear for good.

Social phobia disorder, you seem to hear those words constantly these days? I will make a short list of symptoms that go in conjunction with this disorder, Then you judge whether you are suffering from this illness or not. If you do answer yes to the list below, this article is the best thing you could read all day. After i go through a couple of the symptoms,i will then brief you on the technique to control this condition.

Symptoms of social phobia disorder!

*Afraid to leave the house.*Uncomfortable in crowded places.*Problems speaking in public.*Dislike being around other people at social events.*Turn down social events.*Afraid of confined areas.*Restricting in breathing in public.*Panic attacks.

The list goes on, and on!

Every where you tend to go now days there seems to be old therapies that claim to treat social phobia disorder. I can not understand how any one is suppose to treat this illness, when all that is given is purely something to cover the anxious feelings.

The minute we tell the Dr about how we feel they tell us your stressed, your having anxious thoughts, you need to slow down. Then they start writing out scripts for prescription drugs. And last but not least, they then send you to a local shrink that has not solved a case in 20 years.

Why do i know his? i suffered from social phobia disorder for 13 years.I lived the night mare, and might i add not one thing helped me. Infact in the end i was worse off, as the shrink brought up all my past. I think it created more then social phobia disorder for me from that day on.

Social phobia disorder is created from fear, fear of being in public. Now the main reason we get anxious is because we don’t trust our selves to be safe. We start to imagine all sorts of crazy what ifs.

Thought pattern of a sufferer from social phobia disorder!

*I can not go out to day i may have an anxiety attack.*If i get on the train i will feel trapped and i may need to use the bathroom, oh no then i will have a panic attack.*I can not que up as i will get anxious and i may pass out.*I can not control a panic attack.

All of this words should sound very familiar to a social phobia disorder victim!

Ok this is the solution.Panic is only in our minds, we create it, and the more we fear it, the more it controls our thoughts. From this day forward you need to do 3 things.

*Except panic attack in your life.*Become familiar with it’s side effect.*Request it to give all it has got, bye this i mean bring on the full attack.*Then invite it back.At this point your probably thinking I’m crazy.First thing you should never do is push anxiety away, you need to deal with the emotional side of it’s effects. Think about this, what has actually happened to you when you have had an attack. You are still here right? it did not kill you, and i WILL reassure you panic will not harm you physically. It gets it’s strength only from the way you react to it.

Retrain your thought pattern to control and cure this disorder!

Question by JarJar Binks: How do you manage extreme social phobia?
I have such extreme social phobia that i work graveyard shifts. I have panic attacks if I have to go to a gathering and I have some symptoms of schizoid personalty disorder and have all the symptoms of avoidant personality disorder. I feel trapped in a chronic state of fear. I suffer from panic attacks all the time and I don’t have any friends because I’m afraid of people so it’s too hard to make new friends. Should I get on medication?

Best answer:

Answer by Willa
YES! i have been on meds for my social phobia for the past 6 months and it has really helped.

I’m on klonopin and it is a LIFESAVER(although some doctors are not so into prescribing it because it is potentially addictive)

You NEED to see a doctor and explore different alternatives, you don’t deserve to live that way.

Social anxiety or social phobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by severe and persistent anxiety when in social situations, be it when interacting with others, or even only being observed.

People suffering from social phobia fear of being amongst (unfamiliar) people, because they will feel under scrutiny and anxious of behaving in a way that might humiliate or embarrass them.

People with social phobia are aware their fears are irrational and their anxiety over exaggerated, but apprehension will make them do whatever it takes to evade facing the feared situation.

This greatly interferes with normal life activities of people suffering from social phobia. They will start avoiding all sorts of social situations – and when that proves inevitable, they will be extremely worried – sometimes for weeks in advance. This is called “anticipatory anxiety”.

When the dreaded event is over, they will continue worrying how they’ve appeared to others. Did they found them anxious, or strange, or…?

This only increases the level of anticipatory anxiety they will feel the next time, and the vicious circle of social phobia continues…

It is natural to feel some degree of anxiety and self-consciences in certain social situations, like speaking in public or attending a job interview.

What’s different with social phobics is that their fear is continually present and their anxiety out of proportions to the actual situation.

Social anxiety disorder is not just shyness or nervousness.

Social anxiety is a medical condition that can lead to a number of emotional and physical symptoms.

People who suffer from social anxiety find everyday tasks, like going grocery shopping or answering the phone, overwhelmingly stressful or even downright impossible to handle. That can cost them not only their social life, but even a job, and can leave them on the margins of society.

Because some level of social fear is perfectly normal and expected in some situations, social anxiety disorder is often left undiagnosed and untreated. It is estimated that about 3 – 13 % of population suffers from social anxiety in some form or way.

According to Social Anxiety Institute, social phobia is the largest anxiety disorder, and the third largest mental health care problem in the world today.

It is estimated that about one quarter of all people with social anxiety disorder use alcohol to self-medicate in order to appear more social.

Other comorbid disorders commonly occurring with social phobia are agoraphobia and major depression.

Social phobia affects men and women equally.

It usually appears before the age of 25.

Studies suggest that there’s no one single cause of social anxiety disorder, but rather an unfortunate combination of different biological and psychological factors. An imbalance of brain chemicals – serotonin neurotransmitters, some scientists noted, may be linked with this disorder.

Social phobia, however, can be “cured”!

Social anxiety treatment usually includes medication and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Social anxiety disorder can be disabling if left untreated. If you suspect that you, or someone you know, may have symptoms of social anxiety disorder, don’t hesitate to seek help from a qualified medical professional!

Social phobia disorder is quite common, in fact I bet just about every one at some stage in there lives have been anxious in a performance situation. That is normal BUT, if you are somebody that simply CAN NOT, and Will NOT participate in any social gathering this when this disorder has taken over control. Finding out which order of symptoms needs to be treated first is a matter of reading the whole article. This will surprise you.

Does Severe Anxiety Disorder Cause Social Phobia Disorder ,Or The Other Way Around?

Examples of social performances that constantly triggers anxiety for a victim with social phobia disorder!

Public speaking.
Sporting activities.
Stage performance..
Eating or drinking in public.
Shopping in a mall.
Travelling on a bus or train .

These activities are things that most take for granted and don’t even think about them being a task. To someone with social phobia they would rather each broken glass then participate in any of those activities.

Does Severe Anxiety Disorder Cause Social Phobia Disorder ,Or The Other Way Around?

Examples of Social Interaction, that constantly triggers anxiety for a victim with social phobia disorder!

Dinner party’s.
Interacting in conversation.
Meeting new people.
Intimate situations
socializing with people of authority.

Being afraid of meeting new people, or worried for days or weeks before an event that involves socializing with people.
Feeling terrible playing games or speaking before audience, worried that you might do something embarrassing.
Having symptoms like blushing, trembling, heart beat accelerating before a public activity that involves lots of strangers.

These are so called social phobia, which is the third largest mental health problem in the world. Social phobia can cause difficulty when you do something within your power, or keep you from function normally on your every day life. You should get rid of social phobia. There are lots of ways there claim that they are the best social phobia treatment which I can not guarantee, but here are three basic social phobia treatment.

First one is medication. You can get medication from your doctor or social phobia expert. Most of them contain depressant, which can keep you calm, thus helping you be more natural before audience. But this is not recommend, as drugs can only take effect a long time after its taken, and can cause you be drug-addicted or medicine-depended, which is not a good idea. Because what really make you calm or not social phobia is the medicine that you take, which means, the depressant, not that you have actually become not “social phobia”.

Second treatment is the psychotherapy method. You may consult to a certified psychiatrist for advice. The therapist may teaches you some techniques to control your mind and your behavior before you become social phobia. Exposure-based behavioral method, which exposes the sick to the situation where they encounter when feel uncomfortable, but without the urge to get anxious, thus making them become familiar with such situation without getting phobia.

The last social phobia treatment is natural treatment, which involves food and some others ways that does not bother to consult to a doctor or a psychiatrist, which might take a little longer time.

So if you are unfortunately being one of the social phobia member, do not lose hope, there are lots of treatment that may help you to get out of such situations.

I myself is a social phobia man, having realising that this will cause great difficulties in my future life, I decide to start my own website (whose address is in my signature) to share my feelings about social phobia and my methods to overcome this mental illness. Hope that I can help more people like me.

Social phobia disorder is a common problem for a high % of the population. I have found that public speaking in any form, or even just a little office meeting creates so much tension for a victim to this disorder, that some people say they would rather be in a coffin then do an eulogy. That is a real issue and I want to cover a couple ideas that perhaps you can put into practice for your next speech, what ever that may be. This will definitely give you a bit of relief.

Reverse psychology for social phobia disorder victims to follow before, or during an office meeting!

Generally in work meeting situation there will be a group sitting in a close area taking turns to speak. Most people dread the fact that they will eventually have to speak, and try to think of some over the top excuse why they can not contribute to the conversation. This in it own self start to create anxious thought before you even begin.

Social phobia disorder makes the simplest things out to be the most frightening situation one would have to face. Ok brace your self, try this approach it is the total opposite to how you previously have been dealing with office situation.

Pretend to the group and try and convince the little man in your head that you are safe, nothing will happen to you, and you really want to speak.

Before you enter the room say to you self, i am looking forward to speaking today, i have ideas to throw around and they need to be heard. After all this will score big points if your boss loves your ideas.

Changing your thought process is the key to winning the battle against social phobia disorder!

Social phobia disorder tents to make us sit back and be silent waiting for that moment when you have to say something, your not going to do that this time as you are going to mingle before the meeting and not sit there quietly as usual. Start chatting to all the staff it will break the ice.

Now, if your speech is a little long, and you are not fully confident about projecting it in one go, break it up a little always ask questions. This takes the focus away from you, it tends to put it back on the group.

Social phobia disorder will not exist if you take away the fear!

See just because you have a social phobia disorder, it does not mean you can not do all the normal thing that others take for granted. You are the only one that knows your scared, start thinking differently about your fear this will make the difference.

Another great point is, if you are lucky enough not to have to speak first, ask question and get advise from other speaker, let them know what you are going to bring up, they then can give you some feed back.

Always interact and come across interested, and be fully engaged at all time, give an impression that you really want to speak. Anxiety tents to get worse if you sit in silence waiting to be call up, speak out first, never wait for them to call upon you.

When you continuously speak, and do not sit in silence every one then gets to hear your voice, it becomes familiar. What this does is it takes the pressure of you hearing you voice for the first time.

Social phobia disorder no longer has to create anxious feelings if you just convince your self your not afraid, the anxious thoughts are all in your head. This in time will build your confidence level up that high they will not get you to shut up. I just had a giggle to my self right now, as this is the case for my self at present.

I

I was once where you are now, i would rather die then speak even though i always had so much to say, i use to get disappointed because i thought i was weak. So your not alone and you do have help. Pop over to my websitefree-from-panic.com, i have built this site to prevent any one else going through unnecessary trauma fromsocial phobia disorder. Believe me this does not need to control your life.
..

Social phobia disorder is commonly know as a physiological disorder that prevents individuals from being part of society. They tent to lock them selves away rather then have to face the possibility of having an anxiety attack. Now believe it or not this is very common illness, Very depressing for most people who live there lives this way. I would like to
go over firstly some or the typical fears some one with this conditions has to face on a regular bases.

Do you suffer from social phobia disorder?

Well it is the start of a new week, off to work as usual. Morning tea arrives and a couple of the senior staff members are planing a night out, instantly you try to exit the room before you get invited, as you do not want to have to lie to them why you can not attend. Oh no, you just did not make that exit fast enough.

Symptoms of anxiety attack just from an invite out, this is why we call it social phobia disorder!

Stomach knots. Sweaty hands. Ridiculous trembling. Finding it hard to pronounce your words with out quivering. Chest and throat become tight. Your heart is doing 165 beats per minute.

All those symptoms above are hard enough to contend with, but then you have to also deal with the lies your about to make, or the wild story that you have not already used, to why you will not be able to join them. Guilt then can be added to the list above as well. Just the thought of attending a social function brings on anxious thought, and negative thinking about all the what ifs.

Social phobia disorder creates so many uncontrollable thought!

What if i have a panic attack and no one can help me? What if i embarrass my self? What if they think i am weird i may loose my job?

The brain is the most incredible organ in our body. when you have full control over your thought pattern, you can turn any amount of fear into a mild panic situation, but for those who do not know how to deal with fear, they loose control the minute anxious thoughts begins. Briefly to explain the way the brain works when we are in a terrifying situation.

Brain function is this the real cause of social phobia disorder?

The brain has many sections just for this exercises we will relate to the middle section, and the front section. What happens is this, we are designed to react to fear with a certain amount of adrenalin, this is to prepare our bodies ,and to give us the power to identifier danger and react appropriately. Fight or flight this is called, very natural.

Social phobia disorder can be controlled you just have to though how to!

For most people they get scared, the brain function work like this, waves get sent to the middle section alerting us of fear, then the waves usually return back to the front section for normal function with in seconds. Usually no big deal for the average person. Now some one that can not control fear can not get the brain waves to return back to the front section, so they stay on continuous panic mode.

Social phobia disorder can be minutes away, you just have to learn how!

So where is all this going you ask? curing panic attacks for a victim of social phobia disorder is as easy as training our brain waves to flick back and forward from front to back, very easy if you know how.

So pop over to free-from-panic.com, this is my website i developed to help others understand social phobia disorder, and panic and anxiety attacks. There is a lot of informative information over there that can help you plan a full recovery for this condition, make the decision and follow through with it. It really is not that difficult to get back into society panic free.

Social phobia is a disorder that usually shows up at social situations, most typically when talking to strangers or while giving a public speech, there are many other symptoms and these can show up in many different situations. In short words, sufferers feel like they are being embarrassed or judged by other people while being in social situations. That is the reason why many people who suffer it choose to avoid all kinds of social situations and if they do find themselves in these situations they usually leave. Luckily there are many social phobia treatments available.

Before using other treatment options, you might want to make some changes in your life, because what you eat and how you sleep at night can make lots of difference. Many people are coffee drinkers, truth is that caffeine can increase symptoms. Sufferers often drink alcohol in social situations because it makes them feel less nervous, but actually drinking too much alcohol can cause you social phobia attacks later after drinking. Another thing that can help you is to quit smoking and really easy and important is to get a good sleep. By making these changes you wont overcome your problem, but these changes will make it easier.

Medicines

First I want to tell you about medicines that can help you to overcome main symptoms – like blushing or being nervous, but I most certainly am not suggesting you to keep using those, social phobia is psychological disorder and there are much better and healthier social phobia treatments and by taking medications you can cause serious damage to your physical and mental health.

Therapies

One of the most effective social phobia treatments are therapies, there are two kinds of therapies: private and group therapies. Going to private therapies is probably easier, because its just you and therapist, but group therapies might be more effective, by taking therapies you will learn to face social situations and how to stop avoiding them, how to control your symptoms and different exercises. Most sufferers don’t want to go to therapies, because therapies involve talking about themselves and being around people, if you feel the same, you don’t need to worry, there are many other options.

Analyzing Negative Thoughts

One of the main symptoms are negative thoughts, when you’re about to join social situation or talk in front of group you have probably had many negative thoughts like “I’m sure I’m going to make an idiot of myself”, actually one very good treatment is to analyze those thoughts – Think why are you afraid that you’re going to embarass yourself, how do you know for sure and so on. This is one of the best social phobia treatments, people who go to therapies use this method as well.

These are just some treatment options, there are plenty of more. If you have chosen to cure social phobia on your own, you have to be patient and not give up, sometimes you may get rejections which can easily make you give up, but remember not to give up, everybody gets rejections sometimes. If you have tried some method and it didn’t work for you then try another method, there is a cure for everyone.

Social phobia disorder, it is a phase that most people would love to never have to hear. The fact is there are so many victim to this illness, and most of the time it gets ignored and eventually excepted as part of there lives. Firstly it does not have to be. This condition is actually treatable, as scary as it seems you have the power to switch it off, as quickly as you switched it on.

Social phobia disorder does not discriminate from, age, color, or race!

Before we go any further i want you to know this, i have been where you are now, i thought i just had to live with the fact that i was not normal, and i had to just cope with having social phobia disorder. I believed i had inherited this from my family, and there was no treatment out there to fix it.

I was 17, this illness stole 13 precious years from me, years that i could never replace. When the first episode takes place, you do not have any idea what is happening to you or, why you reacted the way you do. Those years stolen should have been the best days of my life. So do not think that age matters social phobia disorder will recruit any one.

The first episode of panic is the most frightening thing that could possibly happen to anyone, for no apparent reason, your body just starts to react in a way that has no explanation beside you thinking you are having a heart attack, or something more sinister.

Social phobia disorder can be cured with self help anxiety treatment!

Well you do survive it, but this is where it all begins, the constant thoughts in the back of your mind about that day, and what took place. It seem as if this is the only thought your brain wants to hold on to, no matter what you start to think about, it is like someone flicks a switch with out you consent, and there it is the episode being relived over, and over. and over, just like a D V D being fast forwarded, and rewound

You would think that something this frightening would be the last thing you would want to focus on, but for some reason you become obsessed about anxious thought, it is like you want to punish your self or something. Then you begin to dought your self and your ability of losing control, so you decide to shutdown from the rest of the world and stay in where it feels safe. ( Home environment)

Do not Give in to social phobia disorder, get back into society!

Social phobia disorder has now become the new way of living, why, because you gave those anxious thoughts the strength to take over, and make you feel weak, and then you lost the power to control them . Obviously this was not your intentions, never a less it did happen.

Breaking free from social phobia disorder is a matter of changing the way you react to fear!

First pointer, as silly as this may seem, you now have to realize that panic is in your life you, either fear it, or you except it and start to deal with it. Now is time for a reality check.

A plan to get social phobia disorder under control!

Today go out and by a diary, this is your viewing only.
Write in that diary, every single time you fear anxious, what the side effects were, how it made you feel. do not worry about the way you write it, your the only one that will sees it.
Record the time of day the attack takes place, how long it stayed, and if you can, what triggered it off. Most importantly were you alone or in company.
Do this for 1 week. At the end of the week go over your notes, review any patterns that may have taken place.
This is stage 1 familiarizing with the anxiety attack, let us give it a name, Hairy Harry, less threatening.
Ok now that you know the pattern of the side effects, you have to except them. Excepting them makes you react differently because, you are becoming familiar with your new friend , Hairy Harry. After all you are not scared of your friends, but initially you were before you got to know them and except there bad behavior.
After you except and you know what to expect, invite Hairy Harry to give you a stronger attack then usual. By doing this you are taking the power away from an attack, as your fear level has now changed, you do not fear him as much.
Last part of this exercises is inviting,i invite Hairy Harry back every day, yes every day, persist he comes to visit as you are now, familiar, excepting ,and open to his presents.

Social phobia disorder is a mind game, it is as severe as you allow it to be!

There are many other exercises that can control the way you think about anxious thoughts, take a look at my website free-from-panic.com, over there you can occupier your self for hours with knowledge on how to become social phobia disorder free, just like i am

Social anxiety disorder, more commonly known as social phobia is an increasingly common disorder that many people are suffering from. Let’s take a look at what exactly social phobia is and what treatment exists for this often debilitating disease?

First of all, Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia, is the fear, or at least the feeling of discomfort, of being around other people. That’s the explanation of the illness in its broadest sense.

People who have social phobia problems may know that people are not truly judging or criticizing them however, the problem s they can’t stop the feelings that come up when they are facing social situations.

Luckily there are many social phobia treatments available.

Treatment for social phobia may take some time before you start seeing first results, this is the reason why many people choose to give up. It is also important to believe that your condition can be cured. There are many factors that can change speed of treatment, it depends on how severe your social phobia is and your commitment in cure.

Psychological treatment

First I have to say that psychological treatment alone cannot guarantee results. Sometimes the disorder becomes rooted in a person’s life in such a degree, that it makes him think that it is part of his personality, and not an outside learned behavior, which is what it actually is. When talking about psychological treatment, the most efficient treatment is behavioral-cognitive therapy.

This method consists on training a person to detect the thoughts which do not contribute to his quality of life. The behavioral side consists on exposing him In a controlled way to the situations that cause anxiety. Gradually, the anxiety caused by these situations, will decrease to a level that the person can control.

A social phobia cure option that you might be interested in is hypnosis. This method is not very common, because some people have reported that it doesn’t work. Fact is that every person is different, so everything can’t work for everyone.

Curing social phobia by hypnosis doesn’t even require you to leave your house, if you have good audio CD, then you can listen to it from your computer. But remember, if you’re quite convinced that it won’t work for you, then it probably won’t, because it is very important to believe in your social phobia cure method

Another treatment option for social phobia that I recommend you is curing it by using self help methods. It can be done very effectively if right guide is followed. You can find some tips from the internet, but for better results I would recommend you getting a book or ebook. If proper self help methods are used, then you will target all your symptoms, learn how to control your physical and psychological symptoms and getting rid of anxiety while being in social situation. So if you’re looking for effective treatment for social phobia, then I highly recommend you to use self help methods from a proper guide. Advantages of self help methods are that it’s quick and usually with permanent results and it’s not as time consuming as it is going to social anxiety therapies.

Lifestyle changes: Certain regularity in your lifestyle can also work wonders on your way to Cure Social Phobia / Anxiety. Balanced diet, regular exercise, yoga; and relaxation techniques like meditation and aromatherapy also help in treating this type of anxiety. Studies have also indicated towards music as an important component for Social Phobia Treatments as it helps to sooth your nerves and also distract you from the constant worrying and concerns you inflict on yourself.

You could be one of many who suffer from social phobias but without comprehending the symptoms finding the most suitable social phobia treatment can prove distressing. The general definition of social phobia is the increasing sense of worry in any particular social situation.

Click Here to understand more about social phobias treatments

Considering the general definition of social phobias you would be correct to guess these types of anxieties are very common and to many mental health professionals social phobia is a growing issue afflicting more than 15 million people. Several social phobias start to appear in children and is identified as development social phobia but this type of anxiety disappears as the child becomes more confident. However there are many social phobia situations that can develop into chronic phobias.

A persistent feeling found amongst sufferers of social anxiety is the extreme fear that they will somehow fail to measure up with others or the victims will be embarrassed in social situations. These social situations can be anything such as going to the movies or social gatherings and meeting new people. Even though these fears are irrational, their outcome on sufferers and their loved ones is anything but.

Everyone can identify with social phobias at some stage in their life yet the feelings subside. However sufferers of social phobias do not become relaxed in certain situations and often become more uncomfortable; sufferers can suffer symptoms such as dry mouth, shaky voice, dizziness, blushing or cold flushes. Obviously the most basic human nature will elicit a flight response to these episodes and instead of directly tackling their fears of embarrassment sufferers choose to shun such situations. This results in a drastic alteration of their quality of life.

Social phobias are an accumulation of many situations within a person’s life and rarely linked to one specific incident so discovering the causes require constant vigilance. Without understanding the causes social phobias are easily misdiagnosed which can be extremely frustrating. Misdiagnosis can lead the victims to treat clinical depression or schizophrenia leaving the social phobia untreated and could increase in severity. The tragedy of misdiagnoses is the victim can feel discouraged and believe they will never be free. However with mindfulness the right diagnosis can lead to the discovery the correct social phobia treatment program and successfully treat even the most brutal cases. There are a variety of social phobia treatments ranging from self-help courses, medication, counseling to supplements. The right treatment is available and it is possible to live a social phobia free life.
