General anxiety disorder is a common problem, but doesn’t get talked about so much. In fact, millions of us are affected by some form of anxiety disorders. In this article I’ll talk about what this elusive disorder is, and what you can do about it.

What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD?

Virtually everyone has occasional bouts of anxiety, or anxious thought patterns. In contrast, GAD is a state of periodic and elevated anxiety, often characterized by excessive thinking and dwelling on the “what ifs”. As a result, you may feel that there’s no way out of the vicious cycle of worry. You probably have this disorder if you have recurring anxiety, as opposed to occasional worry.

What happens when you have GAD?

To illustrate how it works, we’ll use the analogy of a water faucet. If a faucet is working properly when turned off, we experience a relaxed home environment – which equates to a relatively anxiety-free existence. However, if the faucet has a leak and is dripping periodically, you could equate this disruptive dripping noise to that of someone with general anxiety.

Over time the pipe remains intact, however the leak gets worse. What was a minor disturbance can escalate into a loud, steady stream, which can no longer be ignored. This situation is how general anxiety disorder feels – it demands your attention.

Worse yet, this unstable situation is a breeding ground for the pipe to burst. In our analogy, this is when the disorder can turn into a panic attack.

What causes GAD?

General anxiety disorder is caused by recurring anxiety:

Repressed emotions A chemical imbalance Nutritional imbalance Physical, mental or emotional exhaustion caused by stress

What’s are your best treatment options? Once you know the causes of anxiety, you can work to reduce or eliminate anxiety entirely.

Here are four steps that you can take to help eliminate GAD:

Educate yourself. There are many excellent holistic books and classes that help reduce or eliminate anxiety by teaching the principles of the mind-body-emotion connection, as well as anti-stress techniques.

See a qualified medical professional to get a diagnosis in the event that you have a nutritional or chemical imbalance. You may want to do one or all of the following: a.) a blood screening, b.) a checkup with your physician, and c.) discuss your situation with a psychiatrist (Ph.D.) who understands medications. Your doctor can help you select the appropriate course of action if required.

Meet with a therapist or support group, which can assist you by teaching healthy ways to deal with conflict, rather than repressing emotions.

Use exercise as a Stress Reducer: Exercise produces the good hormones, such as endorphins, that keeping your mind and body balanced. Some people benefit from Yoga, a practice that incorporates relaxation techniques into exercise and movement.

While it takes commitment to identify and consider the best general anxiety disorder treatment that suits your lifestyle and your needs, it’s well worth it! Many people who treat their disorder proactively report full recovery. For you, this means you’ll be rewarded with a better quality of life, and a greater sense of peace.

I have Generalised Anxiety I am seventeen does this mean that I shouldn’t pursure the career of being a psychologist as I am not mentally stable myself so how can I help someone overcome their mental instability? It actually saddens me the thought that seeing as I have this I may not be able to have the career I want. I know there are ways to cope and make myself calm and not have anxiety, but won’t it always be there? Is there such thing as an anxiety disorder going away.

Answer by Heather
IF that is the career you want to presue , then your anxiety isnt going to interfere. Because you can understand and relate with others better because of your situation. dont let it stop you !! :D

If you suffer from an anxiety disorder you’re all too familiar with its effects. Anxiety disorders can appear at all phases of life and children can also experience them. There are different kinds of anxiety: panic, obsessive compulsiveness and generalized anxiety. This article covers the basic facts regarding generalized anxiety disorder, including symptoms and treatment choices.

Being continually afraid or concerned over everyday affairs is a typical symptom of generalized anxiety disorder. If you suffer from this it’s quite common to experience unrelenting feelings of tenseness, which can cause you to feel tired if it gets in the way of your sleep. Nausea and diarrhea, among other stomach health conditions, can result from constant worrying. People suffering from generalized anxiety disorder also have to deal with recurring back pain, neck pain, muscle tension, and headaches.

The exact reason for generalized anxiety disorder is still debated by doctors. Since many people with generalized anxiety disorder respond well to medication, it’s thought that the disorder has an effect on brain chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin. Since this disorder is typically inherited in families, experts believe that genes and several environmental concerns contribute to basic anxiety disorder. Specialists believe that those suffering with this disorder have experienced a very stressful event prior to the onset.

Although no one knows for sure what causes it, physicians at least have the ability nowadays to treat the distressing symptoms and improve patients’ daily lives. Medicines used to treat various psychological symptoms, such as depression, are often the first step in treatment. Prozac and Paxil are just a couple of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (also referred to as SSRIs) physicians might utilize to minimize or inhibit anxiety related symptoms and conditions. But when these medications do not work, health care providers have an option to write a prescription for something different that may work instead.

Combining drugs with therapy can be an extremely effective technique that will lead to excellent treatment results. Patients learn to control their adverse thoughts when they engage in psychotherapy. Commonly, psychotherapy sessions are led by a psychologist or psychiatrist who has experience in treating anxiety disorders. Exercises that focus on relaxation such as yoga or meditation can also be very effective and noninvasive ways to treat anxiety naturally. The combination commonly brings less serious symptoms and a better life for you.

Article by Donald Grossy

People worry about so many problems that it would be difficult to think about them all and qualify them as causes of anxiety. The distinction between the normal stress we call anxiety and general anxiety disorder symptoms comes from the intensity, the frequency and the disruptive nature of the worries. When affected by a general anxiety disorder, worries tend to be a lot higher keeping the mind busy and exhausting the body by a superior consume of energy. Then, the generalized anxiety disorder symptoms fall into two distinct categories. They can cover psychological and physiological manifestations of a varying intensity.

From the physiological category general anxiety disorder symptoms include insomnia, digestive upset, frequent bowel movement, fatigue, muscular sores and tension and jumpiness. People who suffer from an anxiety disorder will have difficulties to rest and they will experience intense fatigue. In fact, besides the lack of sleep, the physical exhaustion is triggered by the brain chemical imbalance as well. The psychological general anxiety disorder symptoms include all sorts of fears, memory and concentration difficulties, permanent tension and irritability, and the impossibility to stop worrying.

In the case of teenagers and children, general anxiety disorder symptoms require a close monitoring because the young anxiety sufferers cannot know whether their worries are disproportionate or normal. There are some common symptoms with all the other patients and some more peculiar ones that characterize this group age. The ‘what if’ worry seems to be recurrent with most teenagers and children as a form of worrying about some future event. Then, younger anxiety victims will express intense self-criticism, a great fear of mistakes and the permanent need for reassurance and approval. Even if you can identify some such signs in the child’s or adolescent’s behavior, only a professional can pass a viable diagnosis.

When the general anxiety disorder symptoms pass the diagnosis of an expert opinion, starting a treatment and a form of therapy is the next required step. Only patients who have more intense symptoms will be prescribed medication, but such a solution only works temporarily. The patient will also have to learn how to self-soothe in addition to learning relaxation techniques and going for psychotherapy sessions. Any person who suffers from general anxiety disorder symptoms can reduce the intensity or prevent a panic attack by learning how to deal with the condition.

Many people experience stress and anxiety in their everyday lives. Anxiety is inherent to living and can be part of having a job and establishing relationships with other people. Worrying about getting a project done at work or having a fight with a spouse can provoke anxiety in many people. These events, however, can be emotionally strengthening at times; they can widen your comfort zone and help clear up misunderstandings with others.

For some individuals, however, anxiety is ongoing. The feelings of nervousness and stress wear them down rather than building them up. These individuals carry fear with them every day. Anxiety overtakes them, preventing some sufferers from performing daily activities. The Report of the Surgeon General on Mental Health states that 16% of adults between the ages of 18 and 54 suffer from various anxiety disorders for at least one year. Generalized anxiety disorder, with its hallmark symptom of persistent anxiety in everyday situations, is quite common among adult anxiety patients.

Generalized anxiety disorder can be attributed to many factors. Environmental factors can contribute to high levels of anxiety. Unusual amounts of emotional stress from situations like separations, conflict, financial difficulties, and lack of support networks can cause anxiety disorders. Similarly, people who have experienced trauma have a higher risk of anxiety-related health issues. Heredity can partially determine brain chemical balance, as well. Furthermore, certain personality types are more prone to heightened symptoms of stress than others.

Many anxiety sufferers experience worry, tension, fatigue, and the sense that they are constantly ‘on edge.’ Even a prolonged, perpetual need for stimulation – including strong urges for coffee, alcohol, money, or praise – can be symptomatic of an anxiety disorder. And, chemicals, caffeine, and excess work, ironically, can all exacerbate anxiety symptoms.

Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms can be reduced with massage therapy

If you, like many Americans, are a person with a job and meaningful relationships, you will likely never fully rid yourself of stress. Effective therapy will teach you how to manage those symptoms. You should choose the type of anti-anxiety treatment that is best suited to your income level, time constraints, and personality. Some people choose anti-anxiety medications. Others choose psychotherapy or counseling. Still others choose natural treatments such as herbal remedies or massage therapy.

Many anxiety patients turn to — and have found relief in — natural treatments. Holistic and homeopathic medication can alleviate the symptoms associated with generalized anxiety disorder. Such treatments heal the body as a whole, taking the balance of physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the human system into consideration. Holistic therapies aim to remove toxins that facilitate the negative effects of stress. Other individuals turn to massage therapy or acupuncture to relieve anxiety. Massage can help break down built up toxins or waste in muscles, and often has a calming effect on anxious patients.

Some individuals are leery of certain treatments. For example, anxious patients who are afraid of drug side effects might wish to avoid psychotropic medications. Other patients might be reluctant to be touched by a specialist, so they might shy away from massage therapy.

Perhaps you have wanted to try massage therapy to treat your anxiety symptoms, but are reluctant or scared. The following tips might help you to relax:

How can you use massage therapy to fully treat your symptoms?

-First, be assured that uncomfortable situations are exceptionally rare when it comes to how you are treated by a massage therapist. These people are professionals who attended school to learn how to give you the best possible holistic treatment. Besides, massage therapists rely on repeated customers and referrals to succeed. They want you to have a positive experience.

-You do not have to be nervous about your massage therapist seeing your body. You can get massages where you are full clothed, totally nude, or anywhere in between. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of undressing, a massage while fully clothed massage might help you ease into the idea. You will see that the benefits far outweigh any negative impressions you may have. You may even request a masseuse of the same or opposite sex to make you more comfortable.

-Try not to talk while you are recieving your massage. Sometimes when people get nervous, they have the habit of chattering, which ultimately makes them more anxious. Try clearing your mind instead. Let your brain and your mouth relax, and the rest of your body will follow suit. Try not to think about work or your family — or anything else that might prevent the massage from having the best possible effect on you.

-Persistent pain or tension will be alleviated over time, so don’t give up on massage if you don’t see immediate results.

Massages will help relieve the tension associated with general anxiety disorder — but all of your symptoms will not be cured after the first or even second massage. It is also unrealistic to avoid your feelings of anxiety. Denial will not help you to cope with the problem areas in your life. You must create a whole mind-and-body strategy for handling stress.

Massage therapists go to school to become professionals who can offer natural alternatives for health concerns. Massage therapy training from Certified Careers Institute in Clearfield, Utah will provide you with a foundation for a career that can help many patients who suffer from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

They help us to refrain from unpleasant and unsafe situations and therefore play warning or adaptive function.

The fear is always affiliated to a particular object or a situation and anxiety is an indeterminate emotional experience. The menace in Generalized Anxiety Disorder is less detectable, unclear, so it is usually described as a floating fear. If the fears, worries and anxiety start to dominate and control someones life, when they start to severely interfere with their home, social and business life, then we can say that the individual most likely suffers from an anxiety disorder.

Psychological symptoms of anxiety disorders are irrational fear and trembling, feeling of constant stress or internal turmoil, lack of concentration. The victim gets angry without a reason and can become extremely sensitive to noises. Also, in most cases anxiety disorder patients develop insomnia (they have big difficulties to have a rest, they wake up constantly during the night and could have bad dreams during their sleep.)

Common physical symptoms of anxiety disorders are: palpitations or skipping heart beats, feeling problems swallowing, dry mouth, difficulty breathing (lack of air), chest discomfort, frequent urge to go to the toilet, weakened sexual drive, noise in ears, pins and needles in fingers and toes, trembling hands and many more, depending on the persons.

Anxiety disorders could be grouped in seven main categories: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder also called Social Phobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Specific Phobia and Agoraphobia.

The most common characteristics of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) are: ongoing illogical worries, anxiety, fear and expectations of something horrible that might happen, that occur most of the days in a span of at least 2-6 months. The patients find uneasy to control their worries that are to a great extend exaggerated considering the situation. Adults suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder most of the time worry about everyday life, the responsibilities in the workplace, money, family wellbeing, unpleasant things that could happen to their kids, family members, close relatives etc.Irrational fear completely overwhelms the sufferers and makes them to feel paralyzed, helpless and under threat.

Generally speaking, GAD is best treated by blend of psychotherapy (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) and pills. Medications mostly used are Antidepressants from the group of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) and at the beginning of the therapy Benzodiazepines. Some medication free therapies and programs developed by former sufferers are also achieving impressive results and can be purchased online.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms & Treatment

There are ways to treat generalized anxiety disorder symptoms. But first, what is generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) all about? It has to do with worrying too much over issues and situations that might not even warrant the anxiety displayed for them. Relaxation and leading a normal life is practically impossible for someone who is battling with extreme anxiety.

GAD patients most likely have the same things on their minds as most people. They could be fretting over money, work challenges, health concerns or family woes. Only for someone with GAD, the worry level is cranked up a few notches. However, whether the anxiety is proportional to the situation or is excessive, they both have a similar ending. There is no off button for the anxious thoughts.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms To Watch Out For

GAD signs and symptoms experienced change from time to time. Some days are better while others are not so good. There could be parts of the day that you are smiling then you become problematic later. Although GAD is not caused by stress, it can aggravate the symptoms. Panic attacks or depression can appear out of nowhere.

The Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms is not the same for everyone. However, most individuals who experience Generalized Anxiety Disorder manifest a specific combination of the psychological and physical symptoms listed below. These are the common warning signs that a GAD problem might be present.

• Psychological – These include being unable to relax, fear of rejection or losing control, dread feelings, trouble concentrating, failure to manage anxious thoughts, and irritability.

• Physical – Among these are easy exhaustion, being on edgy or jumpiness, difficulty falling asleep or remaining that way, restlessness, muscle soreness, tension and aches, and diarrhea, stomach problems and nausea.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Several treatments are available that can significantly reduce GAD symptoms. However, the most effective GAD treatment plans are those that are able to combine therapy with various self-help activities. These are the ones that churn out the most favorable results.

Treating GAD entails therapy. Studies reveal that medication and therapy are about equally effective. The beauty of therapy for GAD is that it is free from adverse effects. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is especially helpful in Generalized Anxiety Disorder treatment. It takes a look at the distortions in the ways people look at themselves and the world.

CBT for GAD consists of five parts: education, physical control strategies, behavioral strategies, monitoring, and cognitive control strategies. Therapy length varies from one person to another. Nevertheless, most anxiety therapies are fairly brief. Many of the methods and techniques learned can be performed daily at home.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Treatment can also be in the form of medications. Note though that such drugs are only recommended as temporary solutions to provide relief from Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms during the initial stages of treatment. The three medication types prescribed for GAD are benzodiazepines, antidepressants and buspirone. Therapy is still the answer to achieving lasting success in treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms.

Depression is a serious mental illness that plagues millions of people worldwide. It is also highly socially stigmatized and people often mask depression symptoms, and even pretend they are not there. Indicators of a depressive condition are hypersomnia (sleeping too much), dysphoria (severe feelings of unpleasantness, the opposite of euphoria), sad demeanour, antisocial tendencies, anxiety, panic, and sometimes suicidal thoughts or ideations.

These symptoms have often been categorized as weak and improper, leading people to hide them and deal with them in problematic ways. This can cause secondary indicators of depression, such as addiction (to manage the symptoms, also called “self-medication”) or staying in bed all day which can lead to missed work and other commitments. This will often cause a downturn in the quality of life of someone with depression, and likely cause the depression to worsen.

Powerful state of depression spirals

In this way, depression spirals into a more and more powerful state. When depression gets severe enough it can lead to suicidal thoughts and attempts. If you or anyone you know ever exhibits signs of feeling this way, it is important to call emergency services immediately as it is a highly dangerous state to be in. If someone is admitted to a hospital for suicidality, they (in most developed countries) are held for a 72 hour observation period so that they can be assessed and deemed safe for release.

Once someone has been diagnosed with a type of depression they are often put on antidepressant medication, as well as any other necessary medication. If they can afford it, or if medical care is free in their country of residence, therapy is also recommended. Medication is a way to maintain good mental health while doing therapy which usually has better long term effects. In fact, the combination of medication and professional, traditional therapy has the best remission rate for depression symptoms among any combination of treatments. The outlook for recovery and wellness among those with depression is very good.

Many other people experience the same issues dealing with depression so there is a large base of knowledge for people to draw on, as well as a large support group to have help. New medications are developed all the time to improve symptoms, and therapy is always being researched and improved in hopes that one day we may eradicate depression altogether. Provided people like you keep contributing to the research and development related to depression, we may well reach this goal sooner than people expect.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is an anxiety disorder that has struck about 6.8 million Americans as verified by the National Institute for Mental Health in 2007. This type of anxiety disorder makes a person worry disproportionately to the real cause or source of anxiety. There are some generalized anxiety disorder treatments available but before we head on to that, you must be familiar first with GAD.

Typically, the patient worries on simple everyday things such as work challenges, family problems, relationship issues, money problems, friendships and many more. The trouble with generalized anxiety disorder is that it has several physical symptoms that plague the sufferer incessantly such as irritability, agitation, sweating, hot flashes, rashes, difficulty with breathing, fidgeting, nausea, numbness in the hands or feet, muscle pain, insomnia, fatigue and others.

Experts recommend that the following symptoms should be occurring for at least a duration of six months in order for a proper diagnosis of GAD be made. There are a number of generalized anxiety disorder treatments available and each approach is a serious attempt on the part of the medical community experts to offer outstanding patient care. They are as follows:

1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Under this treatment, the patient is made to participate in a therapy session conducted by a professional. Allowing the patient to substitute the negative thinking patterns and behaviors actively with positive reactions is the aim of such generalized anxiety disorder treatments. The effectiveness of this method has helped around one third of the patients.

2. Pharmaceutical Treatments

This is done by administering selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or SSRIs which are a type of anti depressant that hinders the re-absorption of serotonin in the systemic brain. The drugs used here are also used to overcome depression. The only downside to these generalized anxiety disorder treatments is that it can lead to a number of side effects which are quite similar to the symptoms of GAD, such as headache and nausea. In addition, some patients have also felt the symptoms of diarrhea, sexual dysfunction and constipation.

On the other hand, a number of people would prefer to take on herbal remedies for anxiety before seeking for medical help. Luckily, there are some generalized anxiety disorder treatments available which are not pharmacological. One of the herbal treatments available is Valeriana officinalis, or Valerian, where its root extract has been used for centuries by physicians to manage nervousness. For this reason, there are a few proponents of this herb that swear to its anxiolytic effects. A number of herbalists favor the use of the root of kava-kava, or in its scientific name, Piper methysticum, as another form of natural remedy for anxiety. A herbalist will usually concoct a beverage out of its extract. This is then given to the patients to cure their anxieties. You can visit your local herbalist for these items and also find out more if any of this can be of great help to your generalized anxiety disorder.

It is ordinary to experience anxiety from time to time, especially if you are under a lot of stress. But, if the anxiety that you’re feeling bothers your everyday routines, relationships and makes it difficult to take pleasure in life, you may be experiencing general anxiety disorders. It is probable to build up the problem as a youth or as an adult. The condition has likely symptoms as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other sorts of anxiety, but they are all varied disorders. Being together with this disorder can be a long-term struggle. Usually, in most cases, it gets better with drugs or psychotherapy. Creating changes in lifestyle, learning coping skills and utilizing relaxation techniques can also be of assistance.

There may be occasions when your uncertainties do not entirely devour you, but you still experience anxiety even when there is no clear reason. Example, you may experience severe concern about your safety or that of your special someone, or you may have a wide sense that something unlikely is about to occur. General anxiety disorders usually starts at a young age, and the signs may widen more slowly than in other types of anxiety disorders. It is a long-term disorder that needs ongoing therapy. Special management are accessible that will not make you experience anxiety at most times. But you are always liable to becoming worried, especially when life becomes worrying.

General anxiety disorders mostly happen together with other mental health disorders, such as other types of anxiety disorders, substance-abuse disorders and mood disorders. It most usually happens with major depression. The condition is best treated with a mixture of some type of counseling and medication therapy. Counseling can tackle the main causes of anxiety and give ways on how to deal with it. Anti-anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines are frequently prescribed. But, long-term usage of this medication can direct to drug dependence if discontinued. It must be slowly lessened rather than stopped immediately. The effects that benzodiazepines have usually outweigh any gentle side effects and the probability of drug dependence.

Buspirone is a different anti-anxiety medication efficient for some individuals with general anxiety disorders. The results of the drug do not direct to drug dependence. But, Buspirone may 2 weeks or more to begin working, compared to benzodiazepines, which start to work within one hour. Some antidepressants such as venlafaxine, paroxetine and other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are also successful for the management of the disorder. These medications begin to relieve anxiety immediately, sometimes after a couple of days. Primarily, individuals may be given a benzodiazepine and an antidepressant. When the antidepressant begins to work, the dose of benzodiazepine is lessened and then discontinued.

Herbal merchandises such as kava and valerian may have anti-effects, though their success and safety for managing anxiety disorders such as general anxiety disorders may need further study. Cognitive behavior therapy has been proven to be helpful for the condition. With this treatment, individuals learn to know when their thinking is indistinct, to manage their indistinct thinking, and to change their behavior accordingly. Relaxation, yoga, meditation exercise and biofeedback may also be of some assistance. All of these can aid and improve to treat the disorder. This would then create complete change in the life of the person having the disorder.

In several cases, generalized anxiety disorder symptoms makes you feel worried most of the time, even since early days or teenage years. In other cases, the anxiety may be predisposed by a crisis or a period of stress, such as a job loss, a family illness or the death of a relative.

Even if the problem sooner or later goes away and the strain passes, an unsettled feeing of anxiety may last months or years. On top on the distress from nagging worries and anxieties, people with generalized anxiety disorder symptoms may be physical and psychological in nature. The physical symptoms may guide them to hunt for treatment from an expert physician, cardiologist, pulmonary specialist or gastroenterologist. Stress also can amplify the anxiety or end with a phobia, such as a fear of dogs, driving a car or attending a party. Persons with generalized anxiety disorder may have low self-assurance or may feel self-doubting, because they interpret intentions or actions coming from other people negatively, threatening or critical ways.

The exact generalized anxiety disorder symptoms continue to be indefinite. Nevertheless, a number of people have a hereditary or inborn tendency to acquire the problem. The disorder perhaps stems from a disruption in brain circuits that directs the fear response. One of these structures is the amygdala, a part deep in the brain that acknowledges information about environmental pressure, appraises their importance, and orchestrates an effective response. Another part of the brain called the frontal cortex, which is held responsible for judgment and planning, is also a component of the anxiety response. The chemical messengers such as gamma amino butyric acid and serotonin release signals along those circuits.

The condition is well thought-out to fade when positive chemical receptors in the brain do not work properly. The brain chemical gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) has an anti-anxiety response when it combines with receptors in the limbic system, the part of the brain that commands emotions. If these receptors do not let GABA attach, it will finish with feelings of anxiety. Imbalances in other neurotransmitters such as serotonin, catecholamine and cholecystokinin have also been implied with the disorder. A primary psychological variation, medical problems or certain medications can also be the cause for generalized anxiety disorder symptoms. Individuals may be extremely uneasy and self-critical, which can lead to anxiety.

Medical problems such as head trauma, brain infections, heartbeat irregularities, thyroid dysfunction, and asthma have also been associated to the condition. Prescription drugs, illegal drugs, alcohol, and caffeine can also generate generalized anxiety disorder symptoms. To facilitate repair of this unbalance, application of anti-anxiety medications is required. The anti-anxiety medications target the neurons in the brain to lessen the symptoms of anxiety. All of the existing medications are very successful and effective in binding to the parts of neurons that are concerned in producing these symptoms of anxiety. These medications combine to the parts of neurons that reduce anxiety as well, thus soothing excitability and generally bring calmness to the people who utilize them.

Generalized anxiety disorder is not an easy condition to live with. Having suffered light anxiety for several years, which for a full year progressed into acute extreme generalized anxiety, I can tell you that I’ve taken pretty much every anxiety remedy and experienced all the anxiety symptoms in the book, from headaches which last for several weeks on end, to electrical shock sensations in my brain while trying to go to sleep at night. Since I found the Linden Method, however, that is all in the past

Yes, There Is A Cure

Having tried using just about every prescription generalized anxiety disorder treatment I could get my hands on, none of which afforded me any genuine relief, I became consumed with finding a way to cure my affliction, for I knew that there had to be a way. Believe me when I tell you that just as I was at my wits end, I found what I was searching for.

Eventually, I stumbled upon the Linden Method, which I would soon discover was my reason for living again. The Linden method is a natural anxiety cure which was developed by Charles Linden, a man who once suffered crippling anxiety and panic for the better part of two decades.

Charles Linden naturally also grew to become obsessed with his own personal recovery and began to investigate anxiety remedies and individuals who had recovered from generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks.

His complete program, the Linden Method, is the culmination of a great many years of medical studies and it is safe to say that he is considered by many to be the world’s most prominent anxiety expert.

The name is not undeserving, for his method has wholly and permanently cured hundreds of thousands of sufferers of social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, OCD and phobias with an alarming 96.7% success rate.

So confident is Mr Linden in his product that he will give you a full 12 months in which to claim a total money back refund should you not totally cure your condition utilizing the Linden Method. On that note I can in all honesty state that I would pay out a lot more than tenfold what I did and even then it would have been a smart deal, for the Linden Method truly saved my life.

So, What Is The Linden Method?
The Linden Method is a generalized anxiety disorder treatment that is formulated upon nine principles also known as ‘the nine pillars’, according to which one must live by in order to journey the shortest road to recovery. This all might sound somewhat mysterious but it is all beautifully explained in the manual, which is a suprisingly simple read and just so downright plausible. On browsing the manual you’ll be immediately put at ease through Charles’s explanations of exactly what causes your anxiety and why you don’t have a cause to fear it. Basically the reason you’ve got nothing to fear is that you are not ill, physically or mentally.

Your anxiety condition is not a sickness, it is a habit: you LEARN to become anxious because of something medically known as ‘neuroplasticity’, which is the process through which the human brain learns behaviours. A good way of illustrating this is to use the example of driving a car. If you have been driving a car for some time, you might recall that at first you needed to really concentrate, but now most probably find it to be an effortless task: switching gears and indicating when you turn is just a thing that happens on auto-pilot.

This behaviour is learnt in your subconscious and anxiety is much the same. Generalized anxiety disorder develops as a subconscious habit, activated and perpetuated by a smallish organ around the centre of the brain named the ‘amygdala’. Fact – this organ is alone the agent responsible for the anxious response.

When anxiety is appropriate, it serves an important task in the body, however it is only appropriate whenever real danger is present. Long ago, when man were still hunter gatherers, people were regularly faced with authentic impending danger, such as being chased by wild animals. Suppose a prehistoric man were to be chased by a saber tooth tiger, adrenaline would be released into his system, activating what is referred to as the ‘fight or flight’ response and during this moment the hunter would receive phenomenal physical as well as mental potential. Through fighting or running, the hunter would spend the anxious energy generated by his fight or flight reaction.

The difference between people nowadays and the prehistoric man is that people in modern times are constantly exposed to certain stressors which trigger the fight or flight response: we stress about cash, friendships, traffic, children – we live in a never ending state of pressure.

However, almost all of these modern stressors, although they cause adrenaline to be delivered into the system, usually aren’t the types of situations which pressure us to either fight or run away (fight or flight) as with primitive man. Because we omit to exhaust the anxious energy created by our fight or flight response (by fighting or fleeing), adrenaline levels gradually increase in the system causing us to feel anxious seemingly all the time.

This is how the subconsicous anxious habit is cultivated – by constantly being anxious all the time, the mind believes that that we are meant to be anxious – anxiety IS learnt behaviour! The Linden Method teaches you how to methodically supersede this anxious habit with a new non-anxious habit, thereby causing your signs and symptoms to abate and to gradually disappear.

Fact – deletion of the subconscious anxious habit is the ONLY way a person can ever cure themselves of anxiety. Everyone, without exception, who has ever cured themselves of generalized anxiety disorder has done so by way of employing the Linden Method in some shape or form, although they mightn’t have known it.

Medication and natural anxiety remedies might help to mask your symptoms, but they cannot cure you. In fact most people who take anxiety medicine have learned to understand this: that their natural anxiety remedies and prescription medication at best only numbs their reality without providing them with any genuine sustained relief.

The Linden Method WILL cure you: it will take time, but the results are instant so you can look forward to your anxiety to subsiding within the first couple of days of use. If you’re looking for a generalized anxiety disorder treatment that will work – do yourself a favor and look into the Linden Method. It is far from a generalized anxiety disorder treatment: it is the cure.

If you are tired of ‘managing’ your anxiety condition and are looking for a generalized anxiety disorder treatment that will cure you, then it is time you got aquainted with the Linden Method, the world’s number one natural anxiety cure

Here are 7 of the questions I’m most asked about Generalized Anxiety Disorder…

1. WHAT IS GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER?

GAD is a chronic condition which leaves the sufferer with overwhelming anxiety and fear on a daily basis. They are normally fully aware they are continually anxious and fearful, but can’t stop themselves from worrying and thinking the worst about a variety of things, situations and events, in a way that far outweighs their significance.

2. WHO IS AT RISK?

To be diagnosed with general anxiety disorder you usually have had to had the symptoms continually for at least 6 months. GAD normally develops gradually over time. It most often first appears in childhood or adolescence, although it can strike in adults. It is more common in females than males and if there has been GAD in the family line before, you are more at risk.

3. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER?

Apart from the symptoms such as always being stressed and unable to relax, there are other signs such as sleeping problems, headaches, irritability, lightheadedness, nausea, hot flashes, sweating, twitching, shaking, depression, etc. There may also be a frequent need to urinate.

4. HOW IS IT CAUSED?

This is a tough one, as there is a variety of medical opinion on it. But there seems to be a common understanding that generalized anxiety disorder may be caused by genetics (family history), brain chemistry (chemical imbalances in the brain) or environmental conditions (death in the family, changing jobs / school, abuse, the use / withdrawal from addictive drugs, etc.).

5. HOW IS IT TREATED?

Most people will be prescribed drug-based medications to help manage their mood and calm them down. Typical are antidepressants and tranquilizers, although beta-blockers can be given for some of the more physical symptoms.

6. ARE THE DRUGS EFFECTIVE AND WHAT ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS?

They can be effective for many patients, but they are used to help ‘manage’ your condition, so there is no guarantee that when treatment is stopped you won’t relapse back into your condition. They do have some nasty side effects like nausea, stomach problems, drowsiness, slurred speech, confusion, dizziness, lightheadedness, memory loss, blurred vision, and so on. And, of course, there can be long term dependency issues.

7. ARE THERE NATURAL ALTERNATIVES FOR GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER?

There are many alternative therapies for GAD such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), modelling treatment, psychotherapies, hypnotherapy, counselling, etc. Talk to your doctor about these other options. And there are homeopathic and herbal remedies that more and more sufferers are turning to as well. Talk to your local experts in these fields for expert information.

But the key to curing General Anxiety Disorder is to get rid of the continual fear that is carried around. This fear is so profound that it can actually trigger panic attacks. And the symptoms of panic attacks are so horrifying that your fear increases even more because you don’t want to have another attack. This has been referred to as your anxiety cycle, which needs to be broken to get to a permanent cure.

So next, to discover the simple ‘ONE MOVE’ technique that will eliminate your fear and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety, please go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and stop your panic attacks forever.

The author constantly researches health issues then writes reports on his findings so that you are perhaps more aware of the facts, and then, better able to make an informed decision on your choice of treatment and cure. Remember to always consult your doctor first.

Generalized anxiety disorder or GAD is characterized by excessive, exaggerated anxiety and worry about everyday life events. People with symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder tend to always expect disaster and can’t stop worrying about health, money, family, work or school. In people with GAD, the worry often is unrealistic or out of proportion for the situation. Daily life becomes a constant state of worry, fear and dread.

Generalized anxiety disorder often begins at an early age, and the symptoms may develop more slowly than in other anxiety disorders. Many people with generalized anxiety disorder can’t recall when they last felt relaxed or at ease.

You may find it impossible to banish your fears and worries, even when you’re trying to relax or unwind. This anxiety can go on for months and months. You may feel you’ve lost control over managing it. And it may interfere with your ability to carry out daily routines. You may feel anxious and worried about things both large and small.

People who suffer from anxiety disorder seldom seek help as they either feel embarrassed about their problem, or they are unaware of even having a problem. Safe to say, if you are reading this article then you probably have an idea that you need help, and that there is help available. There are many symptoms that people who suffer from anxiety disorder experience, ranging from the physical to the psychological.

It is important to understand as much as you can about your problem, and the possible treatment and cure before you speak to your doctor or health care provider. This will help you to ask the right questions and understand the treatment options that are at your disposal. Anxiety disorder is a serious problem as it can affect your life.

Natural herbs are less costly than medication, and consist of herbs, vitamins and botanicals.

Below are some common herbs used in anxiety disorder treatment.

Passion Flower
This is a natural plant that is used to treat anxiety, amongst other ailments. Its has unique calming properties, and can also reduce body tremors from fear. It promotes better sleep, and can act as a painkiller. It also contains anti depressants, and is used for high blood pressure and epilepsy. Lavender
This is a more popular alternative than the passion flower, and is also known for its calming properties. It is also one of the more effective treatments for panic attacks, and is a tonic for the nervous system. Lemon Balm
This is used to calm the digestive and nervous system, and also reduces blood pressure. It is uncertain if used alone, lemon balm is effective for treating anxiety attacks. It is usually taken with Valerian, Chamomile or Passion flower. Kava
It is an effective tranquilizer, and whilst it is not an addictive substance, research suggests that it may be linked to liver problems. Valerian
This is another natural plant used for treating anxiety. It also promotes better sleep, allowing for the body to rest and recuperate. Chamomile
Chamomile flower leaves are used to make tea, and is a natural alternative for treating anxiety. It also reduces fever, encourages sleep and enhances the body’s metabolism. Dandelion
The roots and leaves are used to treat the body’s internal systems, and through it, provide relief for some of the symptoms of anxiety. It is commonly used in salads and tea, and can also be used as a substitute for coffee.

Millions of people in this country suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. This disorder is characterized by exaggerated feelings of anxiety and tension every day of their lives over real and perceived issues. They imagine issues that cause them great amounts of stress and worry, which can range from health to money to family problems. For some of them, just the thought of going to work causes them great anxiety.

If you worry excessively about everyday problems for 6 months or more, you probably have generalized anxiety disorder. Even though you realize that the issue doesn’t warrant the attention you are giving it in the amount of worry it is causing you, you can’t shake the anxious feelings and it affects your overall health and wellness (http://www.wilddivine.com/servlet/-strse-6/Healing-Rhythms-Guided-Training/Detail).

This makes it difficult for you to relax and even get a good night’s sleep. You may have difficulty concentrating on things that do need your attention and you startle easily. There are also physical symptoms that accompany this anxiety disorder, which include:

? tiredness

? headaches

? muscle aches and pains

? nausea

? trembling

? urinating frequently

? feeling out of breath

? sweating

? hot flashes

Those with mild cases of this generalized anxiety disorder (http://www.wilddivine.com/wellnesslibrary/45.html) can go about their daily lives and work with ease, even though on the outside it looks as if they are able to handle all kinds of situations effectively.

Some experts suggest that generalized anxiety disorder can be inherited, since it does tend to run in families. The symptoms may not manifest themselves until later in life, but in the majority of these cases, people report that they have had some of the symptoms since their teenage years.

For those for whom the disorder is not inherited, it usually starts with a stressful trigger and then compounds from there with the person thinking the worst case scenario for every situation which arises in his/her life. The good news is that with treatment, this disorder can become manageable, if not eliminated all together.

One form of treatment teaches people suffering from anxiety disorders (http://www.wilddivine.com/) how to manage the feelings of worry on their own. If stress at work is the trigger, one can think about all the forms of stress that exist and work to find ways of reducing or eliminating these stressful problems.

A person that worries excessively about his/her financial situation can benefit greatly from financial planning. Sometimes, this disorder is the result of drugs or medications and when they are stopped the anxious feelings go away.

Cognitive behavioral treatment has been found to be quite effective at helping people control their own generalized anxiety disorder. In this treatment, a therapist works with the patient to change the negative thoughts that he/she has about normal situations in life that lead to the feelings of constant worry. Some of the elements of this therapy involve exposing the patient to these situations and letting them confront their fears to see that they are groundless.

There are also medications one can take for relief of generalized anxiety disorder. These drugs are called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and there are several different drugs in this category. They are antidepressants that help the brain block the reabsorption of serotonin and the possibility of anxiety attack symptoms.

Herbal remedies, too, are often used in treating this disorder, such as Kava, which helps to reduce feelings of anxiety. This is effective if you are worried about some of the negative side effects of some of the medications.

Everyone worries about something from time to time, no matter how few cares they seem to have. Children worry about bullies, homework and mean teachers while adults worry about paying the bills, keeping or getting a job, their relationships and so on. Having some worry is natural, but what does it mean if you worry excessively about things that never bothered you before? What if things that only bothered moderately in the past or didn’t seem hopeless suddenly seems like insurmountable problems? You may be suffering from generalized anxiety disorder.

Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms include chest pain that may be confused with a heart attack, breathing attacks that present like asthma, feelings of extreme nervousness, over thinking small issues until the thought of them become unbearable (triggering some of the other symptoms mentioned above), being unable to perform functions that were easy to do in the past (such as driving a car, visiting with friends and so on) and more. These symptoms are often confused with other medical problems, and it usually takes tests to rule other possibilities out before an anxiety disorder is diagnosed.

There are many different approaches when it comes to generalized anxiety disorder treatment. Antidepressants are often used for treating extreme symptoms, however, more and more medical professionals are recommending that people who suffer from generalized anxiety disorder first try self help techniques in conjunction with therapy to overcome this disorder. Many doctors and psychologists will no longer write a prescription for an individual with this problem until they have exhausted all other avenues. Time has shown that if the issue is addressed with therapy and specific self-help techniques, in a majority of cases the end result is a healthy person who has control over their fear and anxiety.

What does this mean for you if you are suffering from generalized anxiety disorder? The first thing that you have to understand is that your fear and anxiety will not go away over night. It is going to take time and practice to get those things under control. One method is to learn how to control that fear. Some may think that this is simple, but those of you who have this anxiety disorder know that the anxiety that you have isn’t reasonable, but that doesn’t make it even easier to control. You must learn techniques to get that anxiety under control and them practice and apply them every day.

There are people who spend thousands of dollars in their lifetime on medications in an effort to control the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder, this does nothing for the actual condition itself, and eventually the medications become useless or they become addictive, defeating the purpose of taking a medication. The best way to deal with this disorder is to take control of it yourself. Find the right techniques that work for you so that you can get your life in order. You don’t have to live with this disorder and you don’t have to medicate yourself to keep it under control.

Most people have heard of anxiety disorder, but few know of the less extreme condition known as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). We all have “normal” worries in our lives, but when you have GAD, your worries are out of line with reality and can sometimes hinder you from functioning normally or being able to relax. The worry is also chronic. The general rule of thumb is if a person shows generalized anxiety disorder symptoms more days than they do not in a 6 month period, it is time to seek professional help. There are a wide variety of symptoms, and it is important to understand that each person displays his or her GAD slightly differently.

Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms can be both physical and psychological. The ones in the latter group are common with any kind of anxiety. A person with generalized anxiety disorder will be more irritable than usual. He will have feelings of dread which will prevent him from concentrating on any task. The inability to control anxious thoughts also creates an inability to relax. This person will also have an irrational fear of being rejected. If a person experiences any of these symptoms more often than he does not, he may want to be checked for GAD.

Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms that are physical in nature can be divided into a few categories. First the disorder can affect the muscular system. The anxiety settles in the muscles, causing tension, aches, and soreness. This constant physical discomfort, added to the psychological symptoms, results in the person having difficulty sleeping or staying asleep.

It is also possible for GAD to affect a person’s digestive system. The disorder can manifest itself through general stomach pain, as well as nausea and diarrhea. Someone with GAD may also find himself going to the bathroom more frequently. These symptoms alone can easily prevent the person from handling routine daily activities well.

The nervous system can also experience slight malfunction in someone with GAD. Suffering from the disorder can cause trembling, jumpiness, twitching, and an overall restlessness. Excessive sweating and hot flashes can be common as well. These are signs of anyone with a general nervousness, which is essentially what generalized anxiety disorder is.

Lastly, the physical complications of GAD can attack the body’s neurological system. The afflicted person will often experience feeling lightheaded and short of breath. These can lead to him feeling exhausted and tiring easily. These can be symptoms of many conditions, but combined with other information, can help someone determine if GAD is a possible issue.

Most victims of generalized anxiety disorder can still go to work and be involved in social situations. As could be expected, it is more commonly found in women than men. If diagnosed, GAD can be treated, mostly with self-help techniques and psychological therapy. In extreme cases medication can help, but is typically used as a last resort. Simple things like eliminating caffeine, exercising more often, and an improved diet can keep the physical symptoms at bay, but will not actually eliminate the disorder itself. If you or someone you know displays a handful of the generalized anxiety disorder symptoms listed above, on a regular and extended basis, it may be time to discuss GAD with a doctor.
