Anxiety disorders come in a variety of different forms, but, generally, they all have similar symptoms. The most common symptoms are a phobia or nervous condition that can keep a usually healthy and happy person from pursuing a normal lifestyle. Anxiety disorders can either come about suddenly or may slowly get worse over a number of years before becoming disabling to the sufferer.

Some of the disorders that fall under this category include:
·Panic attacks,
·Agoraphobia,
·Social phobia,
·Specific phobias or fears of certain things that are harmless,
·Generalized anxiety disorders
·Obsessive compulsive disorder,
·Post traumatic disorders

All anxiety disorders keep sufferers from leading normal productive lives, and in chronic cases can disable the sufferer completely. Anxiety disorders can either begin at an early age or be triggered by a specific event in the sufferer’s life. An anxiety attack is likely to take place when the sufferer is under a lot of stress.

There are a few different therapies that can be used to reduce the effects of an anxiety disorder. Medications for chronic sufferers can be anti-depressants, benzodiazepines and Quetiapine. There are also natural drug free therapies that can be used alone or with pharmaceutical drugs. These therapies include counseling and behavioral modification therapies.

There are also support groups available. These can be very effective when coping with an anxiety disorder. A group environment will help a sufferer feel that they are not alone and provide the opportunity to share their ups and downs with other people that are going through the same type of illness.

When a person believes they may be suffering from an anxiety disorder, they should see a doctor immediately. A doctor will be able to discuss the symptoms with the patient and decide on the best treatment for the individual.

Some medications used for treating anxiety disorders can have side effects. A doctor will usually discuss these effects with the patient before beginning medication. If a patient experiences any reactions, they should discuss them with their doctor before stopping medication.

If a doctor has prescribed medication for the condition, it is important that the patient continues taking the drug for as long as the doctor deems it necessary. In many cases anxiety disorder drugs can cause reactions if they are stopped suddenly.

After an anxiety disorder has been diagnosed, a patient will often visit a mental health professional. A mental health professional should be someone the patient feels they can trust and be comfortable with. With the help of medication and therapy, many patients make a full recovery and live a normal life.

In recent years, there has been more and more cases of people who suffer from anxiety disorders. This disorder includes post traumatic stress, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety attacks.

Doctors and scientists still do not know what causes anxiety disorders ,but research that points to brain chemistry imbalance as a main factor. The symptoms of anxiety disorders are very often confused with depression.

So, why should you be concerned this particular disorder? The reason is because it is a real medical condition that can negatively affect your life and the lives of your loved ones. Note that a person may experience an anxiety disorder at any age. Children as well as adults are receiving treatment for this severe condition.

Anxiety disorders affect a person’s ability to respond to challenges normally. Sufferers experience mental confusion, headaches and backaches which are accompanied by profuse sweating without any physical cause.

So how does one prevent an anxiety attack? First, know all about the associated symptoms. If a sufferer ignores the problem exists and refuse to seek help, the consequences could be severe.

One common link in these symptoms is an unwarranted apprehension or excessive fear in situations that don’t pose a real or perceived threat. And the person in question tend to remain in this frame of mind for an unusually long time.

Here are some symptoms tied to the various categories of anxiety disorders :-

1. Generalized Anxiety Disorder:

Common symptoms are constant fatigue, apprehension, worries or morbid thoughts of fear of attack,. Usually accompanied by physical distress, shortness of breath and muscle spasms. This condition usually expresses itself daily and can continue for 6 months or longer.

2. Anxiety Attack:

Unlike Generalized Anxiety Disorder, an anxiety attack is where the feeling of absolute terror strikes suddenly. It normally lasts from a few minutes to several hours. Because anxiety attacks can occur at anytime and anyplace, it can create havoc in the person’s life, resulting in a reclusive lifestyle . Physical symptoms include mental confusion, nausea and muscle trembling.

3. Panic Disorder:

Symptoms are : shortness of breath, dizziness, fear of dying, chest pain, abdominal distress and heart palpitations. There are sporadic episodes of extreme fear that occur suddenly and without and apparent cause.

4. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder:

After September 11, 2001, the number of people suffering from this condition rose sharply worldwide. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is triggered by traumatic events such as an airplane crash, the death of a loved one or a physical assault, emotional abuse or rape. Irritability, extreme mood swings, insomnia, nightmares, flashbacks and feelings of anger or frustration are the most prominent symptoms.

5. Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder:

The sufferer is plagued by thoughts or certain patterns of behavior that they are compelled to repeat and feel helpless to control or discontinue.

Anxiety disorder is a serious problem that can wreak havoc in any family. If you or a loved one is showing any of the above symptoms, then professional help is needed urgently. Please contact your local authorities to find out what help is available.

Anxiety is a hot topic in the mental health profession today. With more than 40 million adults in America suffering from one related disorder or another, this particular classification of mental illness takes its toll on people’s lives physically, emotionally and financially. Generalized anxiety disorder is one class of this condition that impacts the lives of many people.

Unlike other anxiety disorders where a very specified source of anxiety is found, generalized anxiety disorder tends to plague people with a host of concerns. Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by an overly exaggerated sense of worry and fear about everyday, normal events and activities. For people who suffer from this condition, everything from family health to upcoming tests can cause extreme strife. Rather than react with a normal amount of apprehension about little problems and even big ones, people with the disorder tend to make mountains out of mole hills. In the process, they can work themselves up to a rather agitated state and even experience physical symptoms in the process.

If generalized anxiety disorder is particular severe, patients might find themselves with a life that has been completely sidelined. In this case, the fears about money, work, health and so on overshadow everything else. Before too long, a sufferer might find him or herself unable to function in everyday activities.

The symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder do tend to vary from person to person a bit. In many cases, however, symptoms of the disorder might include such things as excessive tension and worry, a rather unrealistic fear about problems, restlessness, crankiness, inability to sleep, headaches and more.

The precise causes of generalized anxiety disorder are not completely understood. Some factors seem to play a role in its development, however. These include such things as genetic predisposition, brain chemistry and even outside stimulus that can give rise to natural anxiety, such as the loss of a loved one. When “normal” fears and concerns overshadow life and make functioning difficult, there is a reasonable chance that generalized anxiety disorder is present.

Depending on the cause of the disorder, a patient has a number of treatment options. Therapy is almost always advised to get at the root of the problem if it is caused by an outside source. In addition, medications can help alleviate some of the symptoms that make functioning and concentrating in everyday life difficult.

Generalized anxiety disorder affects more than 6 million people in America alone. This condition can lead to minor problems, or it might even completely waylay a person from enjoying life. When the symptoms are severe and the ramifications are serious, help should almost always be sought out.

A lot of people with anxiety disorders are suspicious of chemical drugs available for the treatment of their condition. Naturally, they turn to nature in a bid to find a solution for their problem.

Natural remedies for anxiety disorders don’t really enjoy a good reputation in the medical scenario; however, many people claim to have obtained relief from them.

From times immemorial, people have sought refuge in natural remedies for anxiety disorders. The impact of these natural remedies depends on the individual patient. Some of these medicines have been used for centuries and are still popular among those who wish to avoid drugs at any cost.

Here is a list of common and most-effective natural remedies for anxiety disorders:

1. Valerian

Valerian plant extracts have been effectively used in treating anxiety disorders. This medicine is taken in doses as high as 500 mg. The effects of this herb are almost instantaneous, and it does not display any addictive properties.

2. Passion Flower

The extracts of passion flowers have proved to be a very effective anti-anxiety remedy. Passion flowers comprise vitexin, known to be a very good relaxant.

3. Green Tea

Green tea has been not only known to treat a number of medical disorders but also to prevent them. It comprises L-theanine, which is known for its anti-anxiety properties. The medicine is taken in doses of 300 mg. While people usually benefit by having a cup of tea, for actual anxiety disorders, it has to taken as a supplement.

4. Kava

While this herb successfully provides relief from anxiety disorder symptoms , it has also been suspected to cause damage to the liver. Due to this reason, it is no longer recommended as widely as it once used to be.

5. Aromatherapy

Natural scents have been used from times immemorial to relieve stress and tension and curb symptoms of anxiety disorder. Aromas of lavender, sandalwood, and jasmine help patients deal with anxiety better.

While natural remedies for anxiety disorders have helped a large number of people, it has to be understood that they are not a cure for all ills. Consult your doctor before you use a natural remedy. Sometimes, it is dangerous to mix natural remedies for anxiety disorders with other types of medication, especially anti-anxiety drugs.

Weigh the advantages and disadvantages of using a natural remedy before you make a final decision. People who take the natural route should watch out for any side effects and use the remedies only if they prove beneficial.

Anxiety is a normal and natural emotional response to a threatening condition. Feeling of nervousness, fear and unease affects just every one of us at some stage of life or another, whether at a speech conference, an interview, examination or at work. Commonly, most of us experiencing anxiety would adapt to the stressful or tense situation and this feeling will eventually subside in due course. Nevertheless, when the state of anxiety reached an excessive, intense and prolonged phase which affects ones ordinary activities, it implies a potential mental state generally termed as anxiety disorder. As anxiety disorder is a treatable medical condition, one should seek the appropriate treatments and medication to control and cure the condition and should not view it as a weakness or instability of character.

Recovery is a possibility if the combination of appropriate treatments is sought. With a great number of medication treatments available for the varying anxiety disorders, the doctors and psychiatrist are best able to diagnose your anxiety complaints to suggest and get you started on the most appropriate treatment for your specific medical condition. On a personal note, is it important that you appreciate the fact that if the effectiveness of a treatment course falls short of your expectation, there is other combination of treatments that would best control and alleviate your anxiety disorder permanently.

From the wide selection of available remedies and treatment options, you should evaluate the suitability of these alternatives and its effect in order to settle on the products or methods that best reflect your condition. Again, remember that it is always best to discuss and consult the with your doctor or psychiatric specialist to better understand the nature of these remedies and to gauge if the treatment selections are best fit for treating your anxiety and panic disorders.Traditionally, psychotherapy and prescriptive medication have been most commonly used and recently, complimentary and alternative medicines have gained popularity for its natural healing power. Although the effectiveness of alternative medicines in healing anxiety disorders have yet to be fully established but many trials have shed some lights on its use for such purposes.

Conventional treatment of anxiety disorder is no other than the traditional prescription of medications for lowering the chemical substances in the body that leads to constant anxiety. These medications, some of which can relieve the symptoms of anxiety quickly with few side effects, are also commonly used for treatment of depression. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and Beta-blockers are few examples of these medicines. Generally, medication alone is not enough and the treatment normally has to involve some forms of psychotherapy simultaneously. The main reason is that while medications allow the patients to better deal with anxiety disorders and relieve those adverse effects felt by them, long term use may lead to over reliance on these drugs.

Introduction of earlier techniques of Acupuncture and Ayurveda in controlling anxiety disorders has gradually been accepted as an option of alternative anxiety treatment. These treatments can help to restore comfort and release tension and negative sensation by stimulating internal energy flows that relieve the imbalance of tension build-up in the specific organs. They use essential oils derived from flowers, herbs and plants as well as sterilized acupuncture needles to stimulate the effect of relaxation and energy through scent.

Another alternative anxiety treatment is Gemstone therapy. Here its believed that gemstones have properties that can correct imbalances within your body. Each gemstone that is used in this treatment has healing properties and colors. The right balance can be achieved by placing a gemstone at a specific point on your body.

The choices of alternative therapies and anxiety management techniques are not only numerous, they can be very diverse in nature which extends from exposure therapy, relaxation techniques and supplements, self esteem therapy, cognitive therapy to anxiety education, attention training, nutrition, exercise, assertion and so forth. As long as the core anxiety can be addressed in a structured and supportive anxiety treatment course, full recovery is a certainty.

Most of the world’s populace has or will suffer from some kind of mental disorder. It seems that a new one is discovered each month. Never the less these disorders and Phobias can make the life of the suffer quite miserable. One the most common mental conditions is called anxiety or anxiety disorder. There are many derivations of this common mental illness. A severe form is called GAD short for Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

In general anxiety is the natural reaction to being exposed to a dangerous, unsecured or threatening experience. GAD on the other hand is an excessive and pathological anxiety. It is so severe that often people who suffer from it cannot normally function in society. Their daily life’s activities are disrupted by unreasonable fears to the point that they are unable do much more than physically exist.

The unique feather of GAD is that is not triggered by a specific incident, situation or object. This “free-floating” anxiety, unlike panic or anxiety attacks does not depend on a memory of a triggering event. Worldwide it is estimated that between 175 and 196 million people suffer from GAD. Women are more likely then men to suffer from this anxiety disorder.

It is generally accepted that generalized anxiety disorder is associated with the irregular levels of chemical neurotransmitters in the brain. Serotonin, Norepinepherine and Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA) are chemical neurotransmitters known to be involved with anxiety disorders. Research has shown that all three of these chemicals interact with one another during an anxiety or panic attack. The reduction of one or more of these neurotransmitters can result in the reduction of anxiety.

GAD suffers are at high risk to react to situation or location stress such as in large crowded stores, work place and transportation environments. Normal anxiety stressors like interpersonal relationships at work and school, financial and health problems can increase the affects of GAD symptoms.

Additional psychiatric problems commonly are manifest with GAD. These include depression, phobias and panic disorders. Adding these problems to the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder can complicate treatment options. Frequently the patient also will suffer from a number of physical disorders related to stress. These include intestinal, digestion and cardio-pulmonary related problems.

Additional Gad symptoms include sleep disorders, racing thoughts, persistent unreasonable worries, nausea, persistent lack of energy and tiredness, depression, the inability to concentrate, manic like mood swings and inability to use self control around others especially in a social environments. All of which makes the life of a Generalized Anxiety Disorder sufferer absolutely miserable.

As you can clearly see this is a very serious mental disorder that requires serious medical treatment. As with any anxiety disorder the sooner you address the condition the more likely you will have favorable results and outcome. The worst thing a sufferer of GAD can do is ignore their symptoms until they are so affected, they are unable to live a normal life.

If you have one or more of the symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder you should consult you family physician. Most likely they will refer you to mental health professional that specializes in treating this serious disorder. Again time is of the essence when treating any mental disorder

Are you suffering from an anxiety disorder? Are you tired of experiencing anxiety attacks (panic attacks)? Well you’re definitely not alone. With today’s society becoming even more fast-paced and stressful it’s no wonder that millions of people are plagued with some form of anxiety disorder.

If you are a sufferer of anxiety yourself then I am sure you know that there is an abundance of information online for anxiety disorder treatments and finding something that actually works can be hard. The sad reality is that 90% of online products are scams; people looking to make a quick buck off of others. It’s especially sad when they are preying on the vulnerabilities of people with more serious problems such as anxiety disorders who are desperate to find anything that will make their lives better.

Currently there are many books and programs online that promise to cure your anxiety disorder with their magical secrets that only they can tell you. Of course being the skeptic that I am I do not have much trust in the value of most of these products out there; and that rings true for anxiety disorders as well. Now this is not to say that everything out there is a lie, but finding a good quality product that rings true to their word is like finding a needle in a haystack, so to speak.

Just last week I found an example of an anxiety disorder treatment that proves this. It’s called the Easy Calm system; and at first glance I thought ‘great another low quality product sucking people in’. Surprisingly, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The first thing that made this stand out was that it was not another crappy anxiety disorder e-book.

So what exactly is Easy Calm then?

Easy Calm is a series of one-on-one video coaching put together by a well known personal development coach named Jon Mercer. It actually is quite ingenious as it gives you the benefit of a personal therapist guiding you through a series of ‘steps’ that you must take without the hassle or expense of having to travel to their office. Not to mention the fact that most people feel extremely uncomfortable with the idea of sitting in an office exposing their fears and anxieties face to face with a stranger. This is what I think makes this program unique. His anxiety disorder video ‘sessions’ are very relaxed and laid back so that you feel comfortable and relaxed yourself. The more relaxed you are, the more you will be able to take in, process, and put to practice the information given. He also understands that videos alone may not be enough to guide you, and their will be times where you may have questions or need some more personal support. For this reason he actually gives you his e-mail, not an auto-responder or a call answer service. He wants to personally help you as much as possible to an anxiety free life. This alone shocked me as it is extremely rare to see someone offer such personal attention with an online product.

For most people who suffer from an anxiety disorder, a book alone is not enough without a support system behind it. Yet, having to go to someone face to face and spill your guts can actually cause more anxiety. I believe that this system actually strikes a great balance between the two. The fact is though, what works for one person may not in fact work for another which is why Jon Mercer offers his first session for free so that you can see for yourself if it is something you feel would benefit you. Although, honestly it is backed by a complete money back guarantee anyway so there really is no loss, and it is extremely cheap seeing as it costs the same as just one anxiety book alone.

I highly recommend that if you suffer from any form of an anxiety disorder or experience anxiety attacks that you should at the least give the free session a try because you will have nothing to lose and quite possibly an anxiety free, happier life to gain!

Most people have heard of anxiety before, but only a few aware that there are in fact different forms of anxiety that you can suffer from. Social anxiety disorder is one of the most frequently diagnosed anxiety disorder conditions. This is a chronic mental health condition that can cause an irrational fear towards activities or situations in which the sufferer believes that people around them are watching them and judging them.

There are specific signs and symptoms that you will recognize if you suffer from a social anxiety disorder. They will differentiate this from other anxiety disorders. Usually you may have an extreme dread of being in situations where you do not know people, fear of situations in which you may be judged, worry that others will notice you looking anxious, and you stay away from doing thinks out of fear that you may say the wrong thing or otherwise humiliate yourself.

Causes of social anxiety disorder

There is no particular known cause of social anxiety disorder, but somewhat a variety of triggers and factors are involved. Biochemistry is considered as being a main factor here, as researchers are now investigating the idea that natural chemicals in the body may play a major role in creating the disorder. For example, an imbalance in the level of serotonin chemical in the brain could become a factor. This situation explains why most of the medications that are prescribed to treat the disorder work by balancing the level of serotonin in the patient’s brain.

Genes are also a possibility here, as social anxiety disorder shows a tendency to run in families. And although it is obvious that the genes most probably play a major role here, researchers have yet to agree on whether this hereditary component is associated to genetics or whether it is behavior learned by other family members.

Treatment for social anxiety disorder

Treatment is certainly one of the most main aspects when it comes to a health condition such as a social anxiety disorder, especially for the sufferer who most likely feels powerless and as though their life is revolving out of control.

Psychotherapy is the most frequently prescribed treatment method, especially cognitive behavioral therapy. This is in fact the only form of therapy that has shown to be effective in treating social anxiety disorder It is based on the idea that your own thoughts is what really determines how you behave or react and therefore the goal of the therapy is to change the negative thoughts and replace with positive ones. Another alternative is exposure therapy, which involves progressively working up to facing the situations that you dread most and which as a result will help you to recover from your problem with anxiety.

Medications for social anxiety disorder and its side effects

The mildest type of social anxiety disorder medication is called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors boost the levels of serotonin in the brain, making the user feel more contented and calmer. Some famous brands that use SSRIs are Prozac and Zoloft. However, SSRIs have side effects as well, such as headaches, dry mouth, nausea, irritability, loss of appetite, sleeping problems, drowsiness, weight gain, shaking hands, and diarrhea. These are all bothersome side effects, but none of them is life threatening.

Benzodiazepines are minor tranquilizers or psychoactive drugs that slow down the body’s nervous system, giving it an all-over calm. These medications are typically only used as a quick acting, short term solutions to symptoms. One major side effect of these drugs is that they can be addictive. Therefore, they should only be taken as prescribed by a doctor. Other side effects from the medications can include tiredness, fatigue, slurred speech, weakness, memory loss, blurred vision, and dizziness.

Antidepressants are social anxiety disorder medications that influence the neurotransmitters in the brain. The side effects can be various depending on what kind of antidepressants is used. One major side effect of all antidepressants is they can generate suicidal thoughts, especially when the sufferers start to take them or when the dosage is changed. The Food and Drug Administrator (FDA) has put out a warning on all antidepressants.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are others antidepressant social anxiety disorder medications, which is very powerful and can have very dangerous side effects. These drugs can be deadly when combined with certain other drugs and foods. These should be reserved as a last resort unless all other forms of treatment have failed.

Beta-blockers, which are commonly used to control high blood pressure, are occasionally used as social anxiety disorder medications. These can be taken in low doses prior to a time when the patient believes they will experience an attack. The regular side effects are weariness, nightmares, diarrhea, nausea, cold extremities, abnormal vision, heart failure, insomnia, decreased concentration, dizziness, hallucinations, depression, sexual dysfunction, and dyspnea.

Anxiety disorder is considered a very common form of chronic disorder that hits more women than men. It greatly affects the lifestyle of individuals suffering from it.

People suffering from anxiety disorder have long lasting anxiety not specific to any scenario or object. They often feel worried and nervous but they just can’t explain why. Furthermore, they are usually not able to control their thoughts as the worrying thoughts keep popping up.

There may also be some physical symptoms that include dizziness, headaches, heart palpitations and insomnia. With anxiety and all these physical symptoms, a person’s quality of life is greatly affected and he/she faces more difficulties in dealing with day to day affairs and activities. It may also affect the way a person interacts with other people.

There are several types of anxiety disorders, each of them with different symptoms. Some examples are:

1) Obsessive compulsive disorder

2) Panic Disorder

3) Social Phobia

4) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

5) Generalized Anxiety Disorder

6) Specific Phobia

If you suspect that you are having any type of anxiety disorder as shown above, it is best that you go for a diagnosis as soon as possible. First, if left untreated, it can grow out of control and become worse. Second, it is important to get the correct diagnosis so that proper treatment can be carried out.

Most probably, one of the main reasons why people with anxiety disorder do not seek treatment is because of the social stigma with regards to anxiety disorder. They are afraid of being judged as abnormal or mentally ill.

If this is your situation, do not let it stop you. Anxiety disorder affects a huge number of the population and you are definitely not alone. Having anxiety disorder does not make you mentally unstable. Anxiety disorder can potentially strike any person.

Don’t deny yourself the chance to be free from anxiety disorder. Seek proper treatment and you will be able to control your anxiety and regain your healthy lifestyle.

There are various causes of anxiety disorder. There is not a single reason which is responsible for this trouble but this anxiety disorder usually arises due to the combination of more than one factors. The various factors that are regarded as the causes of anxiety disorder include:-

Biological Factor: The Major Cause Of Anxiety Disorder

The biological factor is one of the prominent causes of anxiety disorder. Whenever there is an attack on our well being, the adrenaline secretes a hormone in our body. This hormone prepares us for the fight, fright and flight reactions. This not only generates physical changes in our body but also psychological changes in the brain that enable us to react to a particular action. Some of the these changes include: The heart rate gets faster Experiencing strain in the muscles Shallow breathing Due to the physical strain; the brain also gets involved in this juncture, thus resulting into a lot of mental pressure.

Suggested measures to overcome this trouble include:- Following proper relaxation guidelines. Following or learning deep breathing techniques

Different Thinking Patterns , Another Vital Cause Of Anxiety Disorder:-

Every person has his own way of thinking about and reacting to a particular situation. The positive thinking tends to give a better and sound life, whereas the negative thoughts generate mental strain in the body, thus resulting into an anxiety disorder.

Suggested measures include: An individual has complete authority to change his thoughts, which further affect the physical and mental well-being of a person.

Excessive Stress and Lifestyle factor:-

Excessive stress and the way one leads life is also one of the prominent factors responsible for an anxiety disorder. Whenever an individual faces the burden of overwork /stressed out, an appropriate fight and fright reactions get activated in the body. It thus compels the person to react to a particular situation in hand. In addition to it, the way one leads life can also be one of the factors responsible for anxiety disorder. An unhealthy lifestyle habit includes:

Excessive work Improper/inadequate sleep Lack of regular exercises Poor diet schedule Behavioral Problem

You can overcome this trouble by following the simple precautions as:

By having a calm and peaceful attitude towards life By practicising self-care Intake of a balanced diet By taking a sound sleep for maximum 6-8 hrs daily

Upbringing Atmosphere: Upbringing atmosphere or the early childhood environment reflects your thinking capability. The surrounding environment can also be a major cause of anxiety disorder. It is usually during the childhood days, that a person learns how to deal with different situations in hand. As for instance, how you can express your opinion or the viewpoint regarding a particular matter and much more. It is the matter of time and experience that reflects change in the thinking patterns.

Genetic factor: Genetic factor is also a prominent cause of anxiety disorder that contributes to social anxiety. A long term study shows that OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and panic disorders observed in a person are the major consequences of genetic factor and the upbringing environment.

We can easily conquer all the above mentioned factors responsible for anxiety disorder. Since we can’t change our genes, so the genetic disorder which is the prominent cause of anxiety cannot be avoided.

Anxiety disorder has become quite common these days because of today’s hectic life. Everyone is running to achieve success; so it is obvious for anyone to get anxious at times due to some unforeseen situations. But when does an actual problem begins? Well, it begins with the excessive increase in the anxiety level or in other words when it gets out of proportion and the person gets overwhelmed. This condition is usually termed as ‘Generalized Anxiety Disorder‘.

But it certainly does not mean that diagnosis is the only most important thing if you have generalized anxiety disorder or any other anxiety disorder. On the other hand, the important thing is to know what you can do about this problem. It is quite probable that it is just an anxious phase in your life that will soon pass away. Nevertheless, there is nothing to get despaired if you have any kind of anxiety disorder as there are means that you can use to control your anxious thoughts as well as feelings. Additionally, the best about these means is that you will not need to have prescribed anxiety medications.

One such answer to your anxiety disorder is “Biofeedback Therapy’. This therapy has proved very effective in numerous cases. The best thing is that this therapy teaches you how to become more aware of the breathing. It is essential as rapid or shallow breathing is among the prominent causes of anxiety disorder. Once you are familiar with this therapy, your cognitive thoughts patterns along with psychological responses will be changed.

If biofeedback anxiety therapy is to be explained in simpler terms, it is a therapy that will help you in facing or overcoming your fears. It begins with the bottom. For instance, there are people who suffer from anxiety when driving while there are others who are deadly afraid of crossing bridges. In other words, for anyone suffering from anxiety disorder, there is an anxiety trigger that leads to an anxiety attack. With the help of this therapy you are encouraged to do those things you are most scared of. But it does not mean here that you will be compelled to sit in the car and drive if the anxiety trigger is driving. The main part in biofeedback anxiety therapy is ‘self-talk’. It’s you who will command to yourself that you will not let your anxiety control the life.

Though there are various biotherapists, but it is not necessary for you to seek their help as there are several sites that provide you detailed information about the working of this therapy and how you can apply it effectively to your day-to-day life. We all know that medications do have its pros and cons and it also holds truth that they can help in lowering the amount of power of anxiety disorder symptoms, but prescribed anxiety medications should not be viewed as a cure to treat anxiety disorders. The thing that works prominently in biofeedback anxiety therapy is your ‘will power’. So, if you are having anxiety disorder, it is majorly in your hands to throw it away from your life and live a normal life. Following this therapy seriously with strong will-power will certainly result into the permanent as well as natural removal of anxiety disorder from your life and you can live a very normal life.

Nearly everyone has experienced or will experience some kind of anxiety in their lives. It is completely normal to worry over your family when someone is sick, or that next bill when you are short on money. Final exams, that big entrance test, dream job interview tomorrow: all these things are a normal source of anxiety. But millions of people around the world experience this anxiety every single day – even when there is nothing going on to really worry about.

The latest figures released by the Anxiety Disorders Association of America say that there are an estimated 40 million people in America that suffer from some form of anxiety. With an estimated annual cost of $42 billion, anxiety accounts for almost one-third of the total annual mental health expenditures in this country. There are many specific illnesses that fall under the broad “anxiety disorder” category, such as panic disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress syndrome, and many others. The exact treatments for these disorders varies widely depending on the disorder itself and the circumstances surrounding it.

What Causes Anxiety Disorders?

Even with millions of cases a year to examine, we still don’t understand what exactly causes anxiety disorders. While we have narrowed down the potential causes for generalized anxiety disorder (one of the most common anxiety disorders), scientists and physicians still don’t know the exact reason it manifests in some people but not others. The most commonly held belief among researchers is that it is caused by a combination of genetics, brain chemistry, and environmental issues, such as chronic work-related stress, or sudden extreme stress such as the death of a family member. Withdrawal from drugs can also trigger anxiety disorders. If the cause in a specific case can be isolated, treatment can be more focused and effective.

Dealing With Anxiety Disorders

Living with an anxiety disorder is not easy. The symptoms can get so bad that people completely isolate themselves in their home, only leaving when absolutely forced to do so. This is a defense response, an attempt to avoid anything that triggers an anxiety or panic attack.

Treatment usually consists of medication and therapy to work through the issues causing the anxiety order. Persistence is also required, as it can take years to be completely cured. Many people suffering from anxiety find that self-relaxation techniques, such as meditation or yoga, can be very helpful in dealing with the stress, and can be used to stop an impending panic or anxiety attack.

With 40 million people and rising suffering from anxiety every day, knowing the causes and what can be done to treat it is extremely important. But with patience and treatment, it is possible to cure this illness.

What is an Anxiety Disorder?

“Anxiety disorder” is a term that covers many different types of nervous conditions that cause anxiousness, feelings of fear or other unwanted, counterproductive or irrational feelings. These feelings of anxiety can be due to a particular phobia, to a particular event or happening earlier in life, or may be due to pathological (medical) uneasiness. There may be no warning of the onset of your anxiety disorders. They can be sudden, or develop gradually over many years and such events are likely to cause profound disturbance of the sufferer’s normal daily routine. In the 21st Century, the occurrence of anxiety disorders is assuming alarming proportions. They afflict more than forty million American adults. Many adolescents, and even children, also develop these disorders. Most patients are seriously affected, with the disorder(s) affecting them for several months, or even years. You may suffer frequent bouts of fear, concern, or apprehension of some worrying event.

Why Do People Get Anxiety Disorders?

Many factors may contribute to the occurrence of anxiety disorders. There is not just one cause for all anxiety disorders. They may occur as the result of a combination of many different factors.

Those factors may include:

Childhood events: Disturbing and traumatic events in childhood, such as child abuse, loss of parents, separation from family, accident or illness, can leave a lasting effect on the mind. Even having been bullied, embarrassed, or made fun of at school can produce lasting anxieties that manifest into a serious anxiety disorder later in life.

Genetic: Parents with anxiety disorder can pass it on to, or cause their children to be more likely to suffer from this type of condition, because of genetic factors or the environment that they provide in the family home.

Stress and Trauma: Stressful, traumatic events can contribute to anxiety disorders. Domestic violence, rape (or other forms of sexual molestation), physical assault, death of a family member or loss due to natural disasters like floods or earthquakes, leaves a person feeling helpless. This feeling of powerlessness leads to fear and resultant anxiousness.

Substance abuse: Alcoholism and drug addiction may contribute to anxiety disorders in some people. And, not surprisingly, most alcoholics and drug addicts had some sort of disorder before they became addicted. The addictive substance was a coping mechanism for a time against the anxious, out of control feelings.

Medical ailments: Certain disorders, like eating or sleeping disorders, depression and other nervous ailments, may contribute to more anxiety disorders, and possible medical problems. These disorders do not allow the body to function normally. Without proper sleep or nutrition, anyone is likely to become very anxious.

Personality: Whether a person is born with low self-esteem or develops it in later life, they are likely to become anxious.

Social and Economic Issues: Believe it or not, the rich are not immune to anxiety, peer pressure and stress. Life is stressful at all levels of human society. Being poor gives you may put more pressure on you – just to survive and try to improve your situation for yourself and your family.

Brain abnormalities: Medications prescribed to alleviate symptoms of some ailments can sometimes affect the chemical balance in the brain and cause an anxiety disorder. Allergic reactions to certain medicines might also lead to an anxiety disorder.

Treatments

There are innumerable therapies and treatments available for anxiety disorders. Certain drugs may help to provide some relief or even the possibility of a complete cure in some cases. Some patients have had good results when the advice of their personal medical doctor was combined with various cognitive therapies (forms of psychotherapy that are based on the belief that the way we think may have a positive or negative effect on they way we feel and deal with our life experiences.) You can become a stronger and more effective person by developing an optimistic attitude and learning to accept the tragedies of life. Additional knowledge can be gathered from many different sources, like the Internet, books, magazines and journals. Increasing your knowledge about your condition can be a very important factor in keeping most anxiety disorders at bay.

Generalized anxiety disorder is diagnosed if symptoms are present in most days than not for more than six moths.

Generalized anxiety disorder is one of the common anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders are the term covering several different forms of abnormal, pathological anxiety, fear, phobia and nervous condition, which may come on all of a sudden or gradually, over a period of several years and may impair or prevent the pursuing of normal daily routines.

The essential characteristic of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is excessive uncontrollable worry about everyday things. This constant worry affects daily functioning and can cause physical symptoms. GAD is usually difficult to diagnose for it lacks some of the dramatic symptoms, like unprovoked panic attacks, that are seen with other anxiety disorders. To be able to diagnose Generalized Anxiety Disorder, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms must be present more days than not for at least 6 months.

The diagnostic criteria for Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms are:

Anxiety disorder is capable of destroying your life if not treated immediately. Luckily it is possible to live free from anxiety for the remainder of your life.

Have you ever felt anxious about something for any reason? Or, feeling anxious or worried in the times of stressful situations? It is ok to feel what you feel as long as you have rational reasons to validate your feelings.

Anxiety is a normal response to any stressful event and it helps you deal with that situation. But, when anxiety becomes too much that it can affect your day to day activities and peace of mind, it becomes an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorder is excessive anxiety and worry about events or activities, which occurs most often than not in most days for at least six months. A person who has anxiety disorder finds it difficult to control the feelings of worry and fear.

The anxiety, worry, or the physical symptoms of anxiety disorder can cause considerable suffering or harm on the important areas of daily life activities. Some of the common types of anxiety disorders include separation anxiety, social anxiety or phobia, selective mutism, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PSTD), panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobia.

Each of these anxiety disorders has different symptoms, but the entire symptoms revolve around excessive, unreasonable fear and dread.

Separation anxiety is defined as developmentally improper and excessive anxiety relating to separation from home or to someone you are so attached with. Social anxiety or phobia is generally understood as extreme fear in the face of social interaction.

Selective mutism is the consistent failure to speak in specific social situations where you are expected to render speech. OCD is an illness wherein you have recurrent and unwanted urge to do something to relieve your discomfort. PST is an incapacitating condition that follows a terrifying event (persistent terrifying thoughts).

Panic disorder is categorized as recurrent brief episodes of intense fear that are accompanied by many physical symptoms, like heart palpitations and dizziness, even without external threat. Agoraphobia is defined as an incapacitating fear of open spaces, resulting to avoidance of crowds, and open public places.

General anxiety disorder is described by diffuse feelings of apprehensions with physiological symptoms. Specific phobia is a feeling of intense, irrational fears towards certain things, like closed-in places, heights, water, etc.

If you think you have an anxiety disorder, the first person you should see is your family doctor. A physician can determine whether the symptoms that bother you are due either to anxiety disorder or other medical condition, or both.

If indeed you are diagnosed to have anxiety disorder, the next step you should do is definitely see a mental health professional whom you are comfortable talking with.

Clearly, in order for you to be treated for this condition, you and your doctor should work together as a team and make a plan to cure you from anxiety disorder. Don’t let this condition ruin your mood, activities, or your life in general.

Get immediate treatment the soonest possible time once you think that you might have an anxiety disorder. The sooner you get the treatment, the sooner you will feel better and be able to enjoy life to the full.
