Anyone have panic disorder and pregnant??
I have panic disorder and have had it for 9 years. I have been on Paxil, but am now 24 weeks pregnant with my second child. With my first I didn’t have any panic attacks, but had postpartum depression. With this one I just started having panic attacks again. The doctor tells me it is from the hormones from pregnancy.
Has anyone else been through this??

I would panic, if I had someone else alive in me.
its just pregnancy….dont worry it should feel cool.
You should be happy….why panic? all women get pregnant
My friend and her baby was born with autism because of the anxiety meds she was on and now she has an even harder time trying to deal with an autistic 2 year old.
Really I dont have any good suggestions for you and Im sorry but you asked about personal experiences & thats all I know about it.
I guess if its a huge problem for you then take the meds but just also be aware of what can happen to your baby.
Ask your doctor maybe you can up your dosage.
Try yoga classes.
Try this site with women in the same situation as you.

I just saw my doctor for this as well. Though I got my panic under control before the pregnancy, the hormones seemed to bring on the beginning twinges of panic.
I find it helpful to know a few things. First off, it does have a lot to do with the hormones. This makes it a true physical feeling. You are not making things up or going crazy. That alone helps me calm down. Second, your breathing changes in pregnancy. So it’s harder to get those deep calming breathes naturally. You have to focus on it. This and the fact that you’re bringing another human life into the world is a lot to deal with.
My doctors told me if the panic got out of control, prozac has been shown to be pretty safe during pregnancy. And you’re well into the pregnancy now. prozac’s been around a long time as far as the new antidepressants go, and it has anti anxiety properties as well. There have been many studies done on pregnancy and this medication. Benzos aren’t a good idea.
Do you exercise? Walking is a great way to relieve stress and tenson. Also yoga is said to calm the mind. Deep breathing exercises help. Also, maybe you should set up a few appts with a therapist. My behavioral therapist was able to help me stop panic before it got out of control and gave me exercises to gain control back. Good luck and Congratulations
